Happy Birthday to Me - 34 Things at Age 34 {Lowdown on Lindsay}

^^Longest title for a blog post ever!^^  Had to make sure I squeezed it all in, though!  ;o)

Happy Tuesday, ladies, and a special shout out to myself, because today’s my birthday!!!!  No, I’m not full of myself at all.  But seriously, you probably think that my birthday has come and gone since I’ve celebrated it 800 times already, but today is the actual day.  And this year I’ve decided that I’m going to adopt a new way of saying my age and Biana's method is my favorite – so let’s see… that makes me 25+9 today!  And just for fun, here's a picture of little ol' me circa 1986 or so?  I might have been 4 or 5?

Anyway, I have quite a few new followers here on the ol’ blog, so I thought that it might be fun to start a new series to allow you guys to get to know me a little better.  I chose Lowdown on Lindsay because, well, it was about the only thing that I could come up with that was remotely catchy.  Nothing cool starts with L!  So anywho, I’m kicking it off today by sharing 34 (or should I say 25+9?) facts about myself for my 34th birthday.  This could be quite challenging since I just participated in a Liebster Award that also required some random fact posting.  It’s really hard coming up with random things about yourself.  Anybody else ever tried?  With that said, some of you who have been following for a while probably already know some of this, so I apologize if you don’t get anything new out of it, but you’ll get over it.  Hehe.  I kid.

1/ I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, but I consider myself to be a Georgia girl.  My parents had only moved down there for a couple of years for my Dad’s job, and I just so happened to be born down there during the short window that they were there.  So it really doesn’t count, right?

2/ I’ve only been back to Ft. Lauderdale once since then.  My parents took me down there when I was around 12 or 13 to show me our old stomping grounds.  They tried to contact the elderly lady who had kept me during my first few months of life after my mom went back to work, but they found out that she had passed away just a couple of years prior to that.  My mom was pretty sad that I never got to see her again.

3/ I married my favorite person in the entire universe when I was 25 and it was the best decision I ever made.

4/ I have two babies here on earth and one angel baby in heaven.  All I ever wanted in life was to marry my Prince Charming and to be a mommy and I am so very thankful for Jacob and Olivia every single day.  And I’m also thankful for my little angel baby who is waiting for me on the other side.  You can read more about my miscarriage here if you haven’t already read the story.

5/ Pink is my favorite color.  Just stating the obvious, I suppose, since you can probably already tell just by looking at my blog.

6/ My first job was at a movie theater and it was the best job ever.  Yes, we got to watch all of the movies for free and yes, we got to see most of them before they were released.  Most of my bestest friends who I still hang out with today are people with whom I worked there, and we sometimes get together and reminisce for hours.  So much fun.

7/ My second job was a bank teller.  It was my least favorite of all of my jobs.  Everything was just overly conservative there, and most of all, I hated being on high alert all the time.  I lived in constant paranoia that someone was going to hold a gun to my head and try to take all of my money.  It never happened, though, thank goodness.  If it had I would have probably died of a heart attack and I wouldn’t even be here typing this today.  ;o)

8/ I also worked for T-Mobile back when they were still VoiceStream.  That job was awesome because our location was privately owned, it wasn’t very busy, and we got to play video games in the back and watch movies most of the day.  Too bad I can’t have that gig anymore…

9/ I’m now a Sales Coordinator in the Sales & Marketing Department for a worldwide corporation, and I’ve been here for 11 years (makes me sound really old).  I always thought that I wanted to be a career lady, but as of late, I just wanna stay home, take care of my fam, and blog.  Is that too much to ask?!

10/ In related news, if this blog ever takes off, I will not hesitate to hightail it right outta there!

11/ After 34 years, I have finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up.  A blogger.  I’ve only been doing it a little over a year, and I feel like I’m becoming more and more obsessed with it every single second.  Seriously, I just want to take all the pictures, blog all the topics, design all the things, and read all the blogs.

12/ I wish that all of my blogging besties (you sweet ladies) and I could meet up sometime at a blogging conference.  Seriously.  I think that would be the most fun thing ever!  Anybody want to do it??

13/ I’m a diehard Georgia Bulldogs fan.  My grandfather, hubs, and several other family members graduated from there so it’s in my blood.

14/ I’m also a diehard Dave Matthews Band fan.  I love them and have loved them for more than half of my life, I’ve been to 20 of their concerts, and I’ve traveled all over to see them.

15/ I’m also a diehard Friends fan.  I feel like that’s worth mentioning since I quote the show on the daily.  Could I be any more awesome?

16/ I love to travel, but mostly just domestic.  I’ve been tons of places in the U.S., and while I would love to travel overseas, the thought makes me a little nervous… And not really nervous about the terrorism or the plane crashing or anything like that… mostly just because I have a nervous stomach, and I’m worried I’ll get diarrhea on the plane.  #Oversharing  #SorryNotSorry #YouWillKnowMeAndYouWillLoveMe #AllOfMe

17/ I’m a super good speller – like so good that my co-workers just ask me how to spell stuff instead of looking it up themselves – however, I just had to google how to spell diarrhea.  Who invented that spelling, anyway?

18/ I’m actually a really shy person and I’m super awkward around people that I don’t know in real life.  Even I still think it’s a little crazy that I started a blog for all to see.

19/ As a matter of fact, I haven’t even told most of my real life family and friends about my blog and I never talk about it with the people who do know about it.  Except for Brian.  He probably gets tired of hearing about it because I talk about it a little too much with him.  I guess I feel more comfortable with perfect strangers knowing all about my day to day activities and whereabouts than people I’ve known since birth.  #Weird

20/ Totally off subject, I had my belly button pierced when I was 22… it was the one and only “wild” thing I’ve done in my life.  And now I’m regretting it 12 years later because my pregnancies made my belly button look really weird… and the piercing just makes it look weirder.  I don’t wear it anymore in case you were wondering.  I know that you were dying to know.

21/ I have no plans of getting a tattoo, nor have I ever wanted one, but I know exactly what I would get and where I would get it if I did – a tiny heart (just the outline, not filled in) on the side of my abdomen, down super low.  You know, right around where my c-section scar now starts.  Ha!

22/ I’m really struggling right now to come up with anything else and I still have a long way to go.

23/ I love jazz music and old standards.  Most days I’d rather listen to that than anything else and it’s my go-to music (along with DMB).

24/ I’m a creature of habit.  I thrive on schedules and lists and being organized.  My very first series (back when I had no readers) was all about time management and staying organized when you’re a full-time working momma.  You can read those posts below.  #ShamelessPlug

25/ If I knew that I was going to die and I could eat one last thing before I was done, I would eat a big fat slice of cookie cake from Classic Cookie Company.

26/ As a matter of fact, Brian and I love them so much that sometimes we order a large just for us and we cut it up and freeze it so we can have cookie cake anytime we want.

27/ We actually call cookie cake “cookie pie” and I have no idea why.  I think that Brian’s family started it?  So when I type about cookie pie, errrr cake, (which is a lot – more than any normal person probably does), I have to remember to type cake instead of pie because otherwise you people would probably have no clue what I was even talking about.

28/ Brian and I like to see who can get the weirdest thing written in frosting on the cookie cakes.  We’ve had some humdingers.  One day I think I’ll just have to dedicate a whole post to our weird cookie cakes.

29/ I just realized that I have been writing about cookie cakes for the last four points… and this makes numero cinco.  I’ll just stop now.

30/ I am a published writer.  Refer to my Liebster Award post to see why.

31/ I was in a movie.  Refer to the same Liebster Award post to see which one and why.

32/ I am now related to someone really famous.  Refer to the same Liebster Award post to see who and why.  Am I making you want to check out that post yet?

33/ I’m obviously running out of things to say since I’m repeating things from last week’s post, so luckily there’s just one more…

34/ I am so thankful for all of you.  And I’m serious.  From the bottom of my heart, I genuinely love connecting with all of you on a daily basis and I wish that I could meet each and every one of you in person and just give you a big ol’ hug!

So thanks for reading.  Are you even still reading?!  This was definitely long-winded.  Fortunately for you tomorrow’s post will be my March What I Wore Recap, so that won’t have many words… just pretty pics of my outfits.  ;o)

Hope you all have a wonderful day!  I’m heading to stuff my face with some cookie cake now!

  12. Happy birthday! These things are hard! I did 35 facts for my birthday last year. Definitely not doing it again this year, haha. I'm shy and awkward around people I don't know too. I would LOVE to do a blogger meetup sometime, but I feel like I'd be that weirdo who doesn't talk. And I also haven't told most of my friends and family about my blog. I know a select few read it, but that's it. I don't know why I'm so hesitant to share it. And your tattoo that you're not getting... I have an outlined black heart, but a little bit lower - just under my underwear line. Great minds think alike, you know. Such a fun post - loved learning more about you!

  13. Happy Birthday Lindsay! I love reading the facts about you. I am going to have a hard time when it comes time for my birthday. When I see cookie cake, I think of you now. And I would love for a blogging conference to happen and all of us ladies could go to it. You girls are my tribe. I don't tell a lot of my friends about my blog either. I just go about life and if they find it, so be it.

  14. Happy birthday Lindsay! I hope you had a great day filled with celebrations and lots of cake! And I think I may the only person on the planet to have not tried cookie cake (or pie!) That needs to change.

  15. Happy Birthday! I hope it was a great day!
I think you did a great job coming up with 34 facts. That's a difficult task! I'm all for a blogging conference!
I don't tell acquaintances about my blog. I did so well for years, but a few weeks ago, a mom to one of Lily's classmates found me and spread it around. UGH!!!
And thanks for linking to the Liebster Award. I came on here specifically to find that post. Haha!

  16. Glad you had a great birthday! I want in on the Blog Bestie Getaway/Conference. That would be a blast!

  17. I have soooooooooo much to say!!! I'll keep it short....

First of all, the whole diarrhea thing had me laughing super hard... "You will know me and you will love me," soooo funny!

Second, I can see so much of Olivia in that picture of you. So cute!

Blog conference? Heck yea!! I'd be so awkward and loud if I met you! It'd be funny, weird and probably perfect. I'd have to bring you a cookie pie!
