Girl Chat - My Dream Vacation

*This post may contain affiliate links.

Brian and I have always loved to travel.  In the seven years that we were together before we had kids we travelled all over the United States – NYC, Vegas, LA, Malibu, Washington DC, NOLA, The Bahamas, Hawaii, etc. – and we enjoyed every second!

In addition to traveling for leisure, Brian also travelled a lot for work back then so he has been all over the world – Brazil, Germany, Ireland, England, Cyprus, Canada, etc.  I never accompanied him on any of his work trips because I knew he would be working a lot and I didn’t want to be touring around foreign countries alone all day.

With that said, I have never been out of the country.

What?!  I know!

I have always wanted to see Europe, so my dream trip would be a month-long (or however long it would take to do all of this) European vacation.  I figure I’ll probably be satisfied with seeing everything just once, so I might as well see it all so we only have to cross the pond once!

With the current state of the world, the idea of international travel does not really sound appealing at this time (especially since I have kids to worry about now), but for the sake of this post, we’ll just pretend that when we go on our trip, we will be in a current state of world peace.  ;o)

#DreamOn

Anyway, on this trip I would, of course, want to travel with my favorite travel companion of the last 14 years, my hubs.  If the kids were a little bit older and I knew that they could hang, I would love for them to come along, too.  I could never be away from them for a whole month!  It would be too hard!

On our tour of Europe, there are many countries, cities, and specific sights that I would love to see and they are as follows (in no apparent order):

London, (BABY!) England

See Big Ben
Ride the London Eye
See the Tower of London
See the Tower Bridge
Tour Buckingham Palace (can you even do that?)
Eat at a little Café along the River Thames
Tour St. Paul’s Cathedral
Walk around Trafalgar Square
Tour Westminster Abbey
Visit Piccadilly Circus
Visit Harrods
Take a picture in a red phone booth
Ride a double decker bus
Walk through Notting Hill
Visit Selfridges (the department store from my favorite movie, Love Actually!)
Walk through St. Luke’s Mews (the street where Juliet and Peter lived in Love Actually)

Paris, France

Kiss Brian by the Eiffel Tower
See the Mona Lisa at The Louvre
See the Arc de Triomphe
Tour Notre-Dame Cathedral
See Jim Morrison’s Grave-Site
Shop the shops at Champs-Elysees

*And I used to want to put a lock on The Pont des Arts (Love Lock Bridge) but they stopped allowing people to do this.  Frowny face.

Italy

Eat, eat, eat, and eat some more
Drink wine, drink more wine, and drink even more wine
Tour The Vatican (I’m Catholic so this would be amazing!)
Make a wish at the Trevi Fountain
Visit Amalfi Coast
See the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Visit St. Peter’s Basilica
Visit Casa di Giulietta in Verona (Juliet from Romeo and Juliet’s house)
Winery Tour in Tuscany
Gondola ride in Venice

Greece

Visit the Acropolis of Athens
Visit the Parthenon
Visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus
Visit Mount Olympus
Stay a few nights in Santorini (looks like pure heaven)
Lay out on the beach… the water is unbelievable!

Ireland

Drink beer in an Irish pub
Visit Cliffs of Moher
Visit Guinness Storehouse
Visit the various castles
Kiss the Blarney Stone

Prague

Visit Prague Castle
See Charles Bridge
See The Prague Astronomical Clock
Take a picture in front of Lennon Wall

Then if there was any time leftover, and if I wasn’t too homesick I wouldn’t mind stopping by Barcelona, Amsterdam, Vienna.

A few of my travel necessities?

Hanging toiletry bag (I have one similar to this one and I have used it for years!)
Money belt to keep money, passports, IDs hidden from pick pockets
Travel pillow for the flight (this one looks flipping awesome!  I struggle to sleep sitting up!)
Hand and Face Wipes (these are our absolute favorite!)

And of course, chapstick and gum.

What about you?  Where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world?

  1. What a great dream vacation! We would love to go to Ireland. We went to Paris and Monte Carlo a few years ago. It was incredible. So I have kissed Ben under the Eiffel Tower! We had a lock on on of the bridges!
I hope your dream vacation becomes a reality one day!

  9. I spent part of my childhood living in Switzerland. I always loved that I did but I cherish that time and the traveling we did when I was a kid. I fell in love with Europe. Then I student taught in Rome and fell in love with Italy. I would love to go back with my family to show them that part of my story! Loved seeing where you would go :) xoxo ERIN

  11. I never realized you haven't been out of the country. This would definitely be an exciting trip especially to see all of those amazing places. Greece and Italy are on my list of one day to visit places too. Eric might have a work trip in Prague this fall so I am crossing my finger that goes through and I can tag along. Beautifully Candid

  18. Ahhh a whole month sounds AMAZING! Ireland is an absolute blast, and honestly you could do a whole separate trip here with just the kids too. It is such a kid-friendly country. You can take your kids to the pubs at night and they are so good to the kiddos. London is awesome too. I'm so thankful we went for our honeymoon because it was a surreal trip. If you ever go, let me know! I'll join you for France!
