July 4th Home Tour

Happy Tuesday, friends!  Today I just wanted to pop in and share with you our home all decorated for July 4th!  I have been slacking on my holiday decorating this year (Valentine’s Day and Easter) because I have been spending most of my time focusing on decluttering, organizing, and simplifying things around our home, so a lot of other things took a back seat these last six months.  Since a lot of the decluttering is done, and I now have more time to focus on other things, I decided to decorate the house for The 4th!

As you all know, the kids are home with me for the summer for the first time ever, so I thought it was more important than ever to decorate for The 4th since we’re home more often to enjoy them!  Without further ado, here’s our house all decorated for the red, white, and blue!

The focal point of our home and my favorite space to decorate has always been our mantle above our fireplace.  I always love to hang a cute little string of decorations across the front and then decorate the top as well.  For this year’s décor, I started with a green boxwood garland (similar here) and I’m so in love with it that I think I might leave it up all year for my every day décor.  It adds so much to the room!  I added our star marquee lights that I got from Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago (similar here) along with a couple of white tin buckets (similar here), and then strung that adorable garland (similar here) across the front.  Boom, done!  The tall vases on either side are part of my every day decorations and the framed family beach picture is always on the mantle as well.  I normally would have taken the picture frame down, but since we’re all wearing red, white, and blue in the picture, I thought that added a nice little touch.

I loaded some summery books into the kids’ seasonal book crate that stays by the fireplace and then stood the Boom Crackle Pop sign (also from Hobby Lobby a few years ago) next to it.  A few of our favorite summery books are Oliviatown, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Night Night America, The Grouchy Ladybug, Be Happy, and Hoot Owl Hoot.  I’m going to be so sad when our babies outgrow the picture books.  :o(

On the coffee table, I always keep a basket of holiday props that the kids can play with, and this year’s basket is filled with red, white, and blue headbands, light-up glasses, and patriotic glow sticks.  They always love having holiday decorations that they can play with!

In the kitchen, I added some pops of red, white, and blue to my tiered tray, and I also stuck a flag in our boxwood wreath on the pantry door.  Tiny flags are so easy to decorate with and they add such a cute little touch to everything!

For the bar cart, I left most of my every day stuff on there (the glasses, the waters, the letter board, and wine) and then I added the wooden flag decoration (Hobby Lobby, where else) and some cute little paper straws and picks for drinks.  I made that chalk board a few months ago to last us until Jacob’s birthday, so I left it the way it was for the home tour.

And that’s it!  The kids did put a couple of red, white, and blue pinwheels in the ground by the back porch outside so we have a festive little pop outside as well, but I forgot to take a picture of them.

Have a great day, y’all!
