2018 Fall Family Photos

Every fall our family takes pictures, mostly to use for Christmas cards, but also because I like to capture each year of our lives so we can look back one day and see how much our babies grew through the years.  A couple of years ago we decided to be fancy and we hired a photographer to capture the moment, but in the years since, we have used a camera with a timer and a trusty rusty tripod.  Since I’m no longer working, we try to save money where we can, so this year was no exception.

We set out before the sun rose one Sunday morning, and we headed straight to our favorite picture-taking spot in a local park near our home.  We bribed the kids with the promise of donuts in exchange for their cooperation and we hoped for the best.

The morning started out clear, but as the sun started to rise, in rolled the fog.  At first I started panicking thinking we wouldn’t be able to get a good shot, but it turns out that thick blanket behind us actually served as quite the unique backdrop.  It also made it much easier for the kids to keep their eyes open since it filtered out the sun.

After months of heat, we ended up picking the coldest morning yet, but the kids were little troopers and they powered through.  I guess that’s what the thought of donuts will do for you.  ;o)  We ended up shooting for a good 35-40 minutes and we ended up with just over 300 shots, many of which turned out to be PURE GOLD.

Without further ado, here they are in no particular order.  And in true Lindsay fashion, it’s #pictureoverload.  ;o)

Naturally we had to include some funny shots.  ;o)  Come back tomorrow to see which family shot we chose for our Christmas card!  Which one is your favorite?
