Whimsical Pink and Gold Little Girl Bedroom That is Fit for a Princess

Blush pink, gold accents, a light and airy canopy, dreamy twinkle lights, and princesses… what more could a little girl ask for?

Our Olivia is the epitome of a girly girl.  She’s obsessed with unicorns and Disney princesses, her favorite color is pink, she only wears dresses, and she’s already taken a liking to makeup and nail polish at the ripe old age of five.  She’s a girl after my own heart, that’s for sure.

When I set out to turn her baby nursery into a big girl room (cue the tears), I knew it needed to be as feminine as they come.  I did want something that will grow with her, though, so I opted for light grey walls, that stunner of a blush comforter, and very few “child-like” accents.  We did decide to carry over the Cinderella and Belle portraits on either side of her mirror... they are gorgeous in person and they fit in well with the whimsical atmosphere in the room, so they will stay as long as she allows them.  And they can easily be removed when she decides she’s too old for princess stuff… then the gold mirror will have its turn to shine.

Anyway, enough with the chit chat, I know you’re only here for the pictures!  I’ll just let them do the rest of the talking.  And I’ll be sure to link as many sources as I can at the end of the post.

Eventually Olivia will trade in her princess dresses for real makeup and other teenage things, and when she does, we’ll just take down the dress-up corner and replace it with a desk or a vanity where she can do homework or get ready in the morning.  I’m sure the unicorn on the wall will eventually need to be replaced as well, but other than those items, the rest of the room will grow with her.  The comforter and canopy are pieces that even a teenage girl would love… I know I would, anyway!  The gallery wall originally held photos from my maternity shoot when she was in my belly, and now it holds pictures of our family, but eventually she will be able to fill the frames with pictures of herself with her friends, and maybe one day, her boyfriend.  Ugh.  I don’t even want to think about that.  Moving on!

I also couldn't let it go unmentioned, that the framed print next to the window is from the talented Hannah Crosby.  She gifted it to us and it couldn't be any more perfect for this space.  Olivia loves it because she said that it looks like the top of a unicorn's head.  You can check out Hannah's website here.
