Our Week - The One with My Birthday Celebration at Momma and Daddy’s

We are home after an amazing trip to the happiest place on earth, and since we were there the whole week last week except for Sunday, today’s weekly recap only consists of one day – Sunday.  Haha.  Normally, I would have just skipped doing a recap for this day, but since I celebrated my birthday with my parents Sunday evening, I didn’t want to leave that out.

Sunday, April 10

We arrived home from Disney late Saturday evening, and after the crazy busy non-stop trip and daily suuuuper early wake-up calls, we were all exhausted.  I ended up sleeping in until 9 AM Sunday morning, y’all – 9 AM!!  I always sleep late-ish on the weekends (we aren’t morning people), but I’m always up by 8:15 or 8:30-ish at the very latest.  I haven’t slept until 9 in ages.  When I got up, I discovered that Jacob had just gotten up and Olivia was still sleeping, too, which was also crazy since they’re always up around 7.  We were exhausted, y’all.

I headed downstairs to let Maui out and get the cinnamon rolls in the oven, and then I headed back to my office for my quiet time and meditation before heading back down just in time to get the cinnamon rolls out of the oven.  By then, everyone was up, and we all watched virtual Mass together as it was Palm Sunday.  I hated missing Mass in person, but we all desperately needed the sleep.

The rest of the morning was spent planning the week ahead, getting everything unpacked and put away, doing a ton of laundry, and getting everything ready for Monday.  The kids started a new show on Netflix called Is It Cake? and I ended up getting sucked into that while I was unpacking.  In a nutshell, it’s a game show where cake artists have to make their cakes look as realistic as possible and then everyone has to figure out which one is the cake among the actual items.  The first episode was food themed, so they made cakes that looked like breakfast sandwiches, burgers, and tacos, and it was INSANE how realistic the cakes looked.

After TV time, the kids unpacked their stuff from the trip and did their laundry, and then we all had a light lunch.  I spent the rest of the afternoon finishing up laundry and unpacking, getting showered and ready for the day, and then getting all of our pictures organized from our Disney trip.  I took a ton, naturally, so it took some time to get them all in order.  I didn’t think I was ever going to be done unpacking and getting organized again, but thankfully, I finished just as we needed to walk out the door.

At 5:30, we swung by Publix to grab some milk and fruit for Monday because we had absolutely nothing in the fridge, and then we headed to my parents’ house for Sunday dinner and to celebrate my birthday.  Unfortunately, my Mama Cass couldn’t make it Sunday night, but my uncle, my littlest brother, and his roommate joined us, and it was a great evening.

My Momma cooked my favorite meal that I almost always request for my birthday – meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, black eyed peas, “pizza squash,” and biscuits, and it was ahhhh-mazing.  After dinner, we had Funfetti cake for dessert and I opened my gift – a beautiful sunflower necklace with my name as the stem (so unique and so beautiful!) – and it was a wonderful night celebrating my 40th with my fam!

And that was it for Sunday!!  I’ll be recapping our Disney trip starting with a By the Numbers post tomorrow, so be sure to come back here first thing tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

  1. I think the Is It Cake thing should be real life. Like I'd rather experience it than watch it, lol!
