Five on Wednesday - Texture Spray, the Best Jean Shorts, and Before I Do Book Review

Hey, y’all!  Olivia’s birthday is on Saturday, so her birthday post will be live on Friday which means… I’m coming at you with some Friday favorites on a Wednesday this week!

O N E – Dry Finish Texture Spray

I have been using this Not Your Mother’s Double Take Dry Finish Texture Spray for years, and it does wonders for my hair.  My hair is baby fine and stick-straight, so it won’t hold a curl, it never frizzes, and I have to wash it every single day because it gets oily very easily.  I can’t even use conditioner because it weighs my hair down so badly.

I started using this dry texture spray a few years ago, and it adds so much body and volume to my hair.  It smells really great, and it also helps hold my curls better… yes, believe it or not, I curl my hair every single morning.  You probably can’t even tell because my hair is so straight!

Wellll, I just went to reorder it earlier this week as mine is almost out, and I found out that… they’ve discontinued it!!!!

WHYYYY.

There does not appear to be a replacement for it, so I’m now in search of a new dry finish texture spray.  I’ve done some research and it seems that the Living Proof Dry Volume and Texture Spray has excellent reviews, but it’s crazy expensive, and I just can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on a hair product.

I also came across this Kristin Ess Dry Finish Working Texture Hair Spray, and it looks decent.  It’s still pricier than my beloved Not Your Mother’s, but it’s not nearly as expensive as the Living Proof.  The reviews are mixed, though, so I just don’t know whether to try it or not.

Ladies with fine hair, I need your help!  Do you use a texture spray?  If so, please send me all of your recommendations!

T W O – The Cutest Tops for Girls

I posted about these tops on Instagram the other day, and I thought I’d share them here on the blog, too, in case you missed my Instagram stories.  These tops from Cat & Jack are absolutely darling, and they’re perfect for spring and summer.  I bought one of each to give to Olivia for her birthday since she asked for “stylish clothes” and I’m hoping she likes them.

The tops are excellent quality, they come in two different colors – lavender and coral with polka dots – and they have a keyhole with button closure on the back.  They’re $16 each, which is a great price for the quality, and I thought they’d make great Easter basket stuffers!

I know we’re still in the thick of winter, but I thought I’d go ahead and share since apparel at Target tends to sell out quickly.

T H R E E – The GOAT of Jean Shorts

Target has brought back my beloved denim shorts for yet another year, and again, I wanted to go ahead and share them here in case you have been trying to get your hands on them for the last few years and couldn’t.

I’ve had these jean shorts for years, and they are, hands down, the best jean shorts I’ve ever owned.  They’re not too short or too long, they’re flattering, they hit at just the right spot on my waist, and they have a little bit of stretch for ultimate comfort.  They’ve also held up very well in the wash year after year.

I love them so much that I have four pairs, and they’re pretty much all I wear during the summer.  They have been selling out every year for the last 3-4 years, so if you have been wanting to try them, now is the time as they’re fully stocked!  And they now come in black and a dark wash, too!

F O U R – Before I Do Book Review

I started this book by Sophie Cousens last week and I have enjoyed it so much.  I love the main character, and the storyline reeled me right in from the beginning.  It has a “Serendipity” feel to it, and y’all know how much I love that movie, so that’s probably why I have loved the book so much.

From Amazon:

Head-in-the-stars Audrey is about to marry down-to-earth Josh. Though they are polar opposites, they have a healthy, stable relationship; Josh is just what Audrey needs. But romance should be unpredictable and full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey’s found herself wondering if Josh really is "The One."

So, when Josh’s sister shows up to the rehearsal dinner with Fred, Audrey’s "What If? guy"—the man she met six years ago and had one amazing day with—Audrey finds herself torn. Surely Fred’s appearance the night before she is due to get married can’t be a coincidence. And when everything that could go wrong with the wedding starts to go wrong, Audrey has to ask herself: Is fate trying to stop her from making a huge mistake? Or does destiny just have a really twisty sense of humor?

If you’re looking for a light and easy read, look no further than this one!  The reviews are excellent, too!

F I V E – Ted Lasso is BACK!

Did y’all see the good news?!  It was announced last week that Ted Lasso will be back on March 15 for season 3!!!!  If you haven’t watched, Brian and I both cannot recommend it enough.  It is just the best show.  You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll feel soooo warm and fuzzy after each episode.  It is one of my favorite shows of all-time and I absolutely cannot wait to see where season 3 takes us!  I’m counting down the days!!

  1. I am so excited for Ted Lasso, March 15 is not that far away we’ve been waiting! I hate it when they discontinue products that we loved!

  2. Oh those shorts look and sound really nice! Also, that meme with baby Yoda in the play area had me craaaacking up!!! We had that happen last year with Jane and there was nothing we could do to get her down. LOL!

  3. I like Milkshake's Texturizing Spritz and have been using it for years. You can use it on dry hair, but I find that it works best on wet/damp hair. I use 10-11 sprays for my shoulder length hair and spray it all over.

  4. I would love stick straight hair! Ha ha! My hair is naturally curly and frizzes so easily! I always style it so it is A LOT less curly than it is. I hope you find something that will work for you. OHHH, I am so excited about Ted Lasso! I didn't know season 3 was coming out so soon.
