The Best Cutoff Jean Shorts Styled Five Different Ways

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I’ve been wearing and raving about these cutoff jean shorts for years, and apparently, they are best sellers because Target continues to bring them back year after year.  These babies are comfy, stretchy, affordable, and stylish, and they make me feel like a million bucks every single time I wear them.  I have collected five pairs over the years because they’re pretty much all I wear during the summer.  They fit true-to-size (my perfect fit is a 2, but I can also wear the 0 or the 4).  They are soooo versatile (as most denim is), and today I’m styling them five different ways…

Casual Date Night

Pair these shorts with a cute, dressy top and some wedges and you have the perfect outfit for a casual date night.

Summer Concert and Hot Summer Days

B and I love attending concerts during the summer, but it is always HOT, so I love pairing these jean shorts with a simple tank and comfy sandals to keep as cool as possible on those sweltering nights.  This combo is also great if you’re a baseball or a soccer mom and you have to spend lots of time out in the heat.  And I love wearing these shorts to the pool or beach as a coverup, too.  This tank is fantastic, too, by the way, and it comes in a lot of colors!

From Cold Mornings to Warm Afternoons

This time of year, we have HUGE temperature swings from morning to afternoon, so this combo is perfect for those days that start out in the 50’s and move to the 80’s by the afternoon.  I love to throw on these shorts with a simple tee and a cardigan first thing in the morning, and then I just shed my cardigan once the temperature rises.

Transitioning to Spring or Fall

For the in-between seasons, I also love pairing my shorts with a cute button-down long-sleeve shirt because it’s such a classic, effortless look.  It doesn’t look too summery or too wintery so it’s the perfect combo for the in-between seasons.  And the best part about tops like this is that you can wear the sleeves long or roll them up as the temperature increases in the afternoon.

Chilly Evening Outdoor Event

And on nights when there’s a chill in the air, but you’re still in that warm weather mood, just pair the jean shorts with a cute sweater and some sneakers, and you’ll stay warm and cozy without losing your spring and summer vibes.  I have always loved a sweater and shorts combo… there’s just something about it!

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

  1. Yes! I agree! I bought them two seasons ago, I think. They have the perfect amount of stretch. I bought them in the medium denim color. Last year, someone recommended Walmart cut off shorts and I bought those in pink and black. I now have white, pink, black, denim and honestly these are the only shorts I wear out anymore. They are so versatile! I wear them from April-November I would say! I love the look of long sleeves with shorts so I really like the button down/button up open with the shorts.
    Great post!
