Guest Bathroom Refresh

Hey, y’all!  Wow, it feels like forever since I’ve shared any kind of home décor post aside from holiday home tours!  

When I first started blogging back in 2015, I shared a tour of pretty much every room in our house (you can see every single one of them here), but a lot has changed since 2015, so I thought I’d share some of the spaces again starting with this guest bathroom since we recently updated it.

Before we get started, here’s a little reminder of what the bathroom looked like when I first started blogging (you can see the entire post here)… and that shower curtain – wow – that damask pattern was peak 2009.  Haha.

And here’s what we have now!

I replaced the shower curtain years ago with a simple, but beautiful white one.  It's sold out, but I am obsessed with this one.

And we removed the towel rack and replaced it with artwork by Carrie Schmitt (that's no longer available) since nobody ever actually showers in this bathroom.  The best part was that we already had those frames on hand!  We've had them for years and they've always been some of my favorites.

I replaced the flowers on the back of the toilet with this beautiful scalloped basket that I won’t quit talking about…

And I shopped our own house to redecorate the floating shelves (similar here).  I kept several of the items, but I added some old books that belonged to my father-in-law, and I moved the pink flowers to a little white basket. 

I also grabbed this set of bamboo apothecary jars and this bamboo tray to hold cotton swabs and flosser picks.  I’ve always wanted to have useful items like those in the guest bathroom since it's the one that everyone uses when they visit.  It's been on my to-do list forever to make this bathroom more homey for guests, so I can check that off the list now!  

To warm up the space a bit more and pull the rattan vibes over to the other side of the room, I moved an old picture frame (similar here) in there and added a picture of our beloved Maui to it since this was her bedroom for 15 years.  <3

And we still have the same tissue box cover that we've had since we moved in almost 17 years ago, and I'm sure it'll be in there for at least another 17 years since it's timeless.  I can’t link it since it's so old, but this one is similar.  You cannot go wrong with a tissue box like this.

We’re also still using the same cabinet to store all our extra towels, soap, and tissues that we've had since we moved in.  It’s long sold out as well, but this one is similar.  It's so nice having the extra storage so we're not constantly running upstairs to replenish something every time it runs out.

I changed out the damask hand towels that also scream 2009 and purchased these floral ones.  And I tossed the old soap covers because I prefer to display the scent now. 

I also purchased a “please wash hands” sign (similar here) years ago and I love it so much.  It’s kitschy but it makes me happy.  Aaaand I’m a germaphobe, so please do wash your hands before leaving my bathroom.  ;o)

I am getting a little tired of the green paint after all these years (and I should also mention that the photos make the green look much more lime-y and bright than it really is... I struggled to edit them to get the color right) aaaand our light fixture is verrrry outdated, but those things take time and cost money, so one day down the road, we’ll tackle those projects.  And when we do, I’ll be sure to share!  Thanks for stopping by!
