What’s Up Wednesday - November 2019

I’m not even sure when the What’s Up Wednesday link-up is for this month but I figured it wouldn’t be next week since that will be Christmas Day.  I’m just posting mine today to get it up because I know the next couple of weeks will be crazy!  Just ignore the fact that we’re only halfway through the month.  Ha!

What We’re Eating This Week

This might be one of the craziest weeks of the whole year.  We literally have something going on every single day and night this week so I won’t be getting remotely near the kitchen to cook.

Mon – Dinner out with the girls
Tue – Dinner out with old coworkers
Wed – Dinner out with family after the school Christmas program
Thu – I’m invited to a Home & School Association Christmas dinner, but I hate leaving Brian and the kids for three nights in one week, so I may skip this one and cook, even though I hate to miss it.
Fri – Dinner in ATL before The Nutcracker!
Sat – Out after church
Sun – ????

What I’m Reminiscing About

I honestly haven’t had much time to reminisce this month because I’ve been too busy being in the moment and planning ahead for Christmas.  It’s almost here, y’all!

What I’m Loving

Everything Christmas.  I can’t get enough.  And because Thanksgiving was so late this year, I feel like we were completely robbed of our Christmas season.  This one has just flown by at max speed and I’m not ready for it to be over yet.

What We’ve Been Up To

All of the Christmasy stuff.  Our elf, Cheek, has been with us for the last few weeks.  B and I celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary, we celebrated Maui's tenth birthday, we attended the tree lighting and parade downtown, we had Breakfast with Santa at our church, we visited Santa at the mall, and we’ve been trying to squeeze in as many other Christmas activities as humanly possible while also relishing in some downtime on the couch with warm blankets and Christmas movies.  Here are some recaps of the month so far…

What I’m Dreading

Christmas being over.  I’m just not ready, y’all.

What I’m Working On

Being present during my favorite time of the year and prepping for taking some time off in the coming couple of weeks.  The blog will still be rolling along, but I won’t be behind the computer.  :o)  Here are some of this month’s blog posts…

What I’m Excited About

I’m so excited to continue celebrating Christmas for the rest of the month.  Christmas Eve is always my favorite day of the entire year so I’m looking forward to spending time with family and carrying on our traditions.  I’m mostly looking forward to Christmas Eve mass.  It’s always been so magical to me and it’s pretty much my favorite hour of the whole year.

I’m also excited because my friend and her family who moved to Korea last year are back in the United States and we’ll get to spend some time with them after Christmas!!!!

What I’m Watching/Reading

Watching – All the Christmas movies and lots of Gossip Girl.

Reading – I finally started a Christmas book and it’s so cute!  I’m a big fan of the Shopaholic series, and Christmas Shopaholic has not disappointed so far.

What I’m Listening To

All the Christmas music!  Pentatonix is always a family favorite!

What I’m Wearing

Sweaters and sherpas and leggings and boots and scarves and a whole bunch of other cozy stuff.  This Old Navy sweater is definitely a favorite right now.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

We're heading to Atlanta to see The Nutcracker Friday evening and we’ll spend the night there since the kids will be with us.  Saturday we’ll probably stop somewhere for breakfast and then head home and then we pretty much have the rest of the weekend free, so I’m sure we’ll spend lots of time watching Christmas movies and checking things off of our Christmas bucket list!

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

I used to dread January, but over the last few years, January has morphed into one of my favorite months of the year.  Talk about doing a 180, right?  I just love the fresh start and the clean slate that it brings.  We get to put the house back together after it’s been decorated for various holidays for four months, we get to start working on goals and bettering ourselves (even though we can really do this all the time, but I always feel more inspired in the new year), and we get to decide how we’re going to spend the next twelve months and what kind of people we are going to be.

Also, it doesn’t hurt that January is the slowest month of the whole year for our family.  The craziness of the start of the new school year is over, the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over, we’re in between sports for Jacob since baseball breaks during the winter, and we haven’t quite reached the end of the school year craziness.  It’s nice.

And yes, June and July are slow months for us as well, but I often feel crazed during those months since the kids are home with me all the time.  January is the one true month where I have nothing on my plate and no tiny humans to take care of day in and day out!  It’s a nice time to decompress, catch up, refresh, and fill my cup for the crazy months to come.

What Else Is New

I’ve been evaluating my blog post load these last few weeks and deciding what posts I enjoy writing and what posts I think are valuable to you as readers, and I’ve come to the decision that in 2020 I don’t think I’m going to participate in the What’s Up Wednesday link-up anymore.

Since I started doing weekly recaps my WUW posts have felt a bit repetitive, so I think I’m going to make this WUW post my last one.  I figure, the only new stuff I really talk about in these posts are what I’m watching, reading, and listening to, but I can talk about that stuff in a Five on Friday post if I feel its worth mentioning.

So that’s it.  Nothing earth-shattering.  Hopefully y’all won’t miss them… I don’t think I will since I’m already providing all of the same information in other posts!

  3. I hope you all have so much fun at the Nutcracker. I kind of fizzled out on my WUW posts this year for the same reason.
