Five on Friday - Sneakers for Spring, a Taylor Swift Coffee Table Book, and The Case for Christ Book Review

Hey, y’all.  Our kiddos are out today since it’s Good Friday, and we plan on attending Stations of the Cross at church to commemorate the day.

Today, I thought I’d share a few favorites as I usually do…

O N E – Comfy, Stylish Sneakers for Spring and Summer

My beloved Target sneakers started looking a little rough late last summer since I’d been wearing them so frequently for several years, so I wanted to replace them.  I was hoping to find some similar ones at Target, but sadly, they didn’t have anything remotely similar to the ones I had previously.  I ended up searching high and low on the internet and I came across these Havanas that looked so similar.  The Havanas came with a hefty price tag, so I added them to my wish list and forgot about them.

During Black Friday, I got an email from DSW saying that they were 50% off + I was able to use an additional coupon and get free shipping, so I jumped right on it.  That was way too good of a deal to pass up.  I ended up getting them for right around $40 (they are normally $90) and they have been the best shoes.  I realized recently that I never shared them here and I thought since warm weather is right the corner that some of you may be shopping for sneakers that are similar.  (DSW no longer has my exact version, so that's why I'm linking mine from Amazon.)

They come in so many different color/glitter/pattern/laces combinations and they are seriously the cutest shoes ever.  I have pretty much lived in them for the last few months, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on them.  They are suuuuper comfy, and I love that they are made so that you can just slide your foot in and go.  The laces don’t even need to be tied.  And they also come with an extra pair of laces in a different color in case you want to change things up!

The quality is top-notch, and they have held up beautifully these last few months.  Mine still look brand new despite the fact that I’ve been wearing them constantly.  I also love that they go with pretty much everything.

If you’re looking for an excellent quality shoe and you don’t want to pay an insane amount of money for Golden Goose shoes, these are the perfect dupe, and they’re only a fraction of the price.  One thing to note is that I did size up a 1/2 size from my usual shoe size.  I’m typically a 7.5, and I went with an 8.  I always have to size up to an 8 in Nikes, so basically, order your Nike shoe size in these and they should be perfect!  ;o)

I wear mine with these no-show socks and that combo is comfortable and so stylish!  Those no-show socks couldn't be more perfect with these shoes!  These are the shoes that I bought... aren't they the cutest?!

And I LOVE this version, too!!

And these with the black stars, too!

T W O – Taylor Swift Coffee Table Book

If you’re a TS fan, this coffee table book is beautiful!!  It’s a large hard cover book full of pictures of Taylor and all of her different outfits throughout the years, and it’s just so well put together!  I bought it for Olivia’s Easter basket, and I would actually love to have a copy for myself.  I should have added it to my birthday wish list now that I think about it.  ;o)  Anyway, if you have a little Swiftie in your house, this book will blow their minds!

T H R E E – The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel

I just finished The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, and it was absolutely fascinating.  The author was an atheist before setting out on his journey to investigate the actual evidence of Jesus, and after doing extensive research, he became a Christian, and then wrote this book on all of his findings.

My faith has always been strong, but I’m always looking for ways to strengthen it, so I picked this up at the recommendation of a friend, and it did not disappoint.  The evidence that is presented is so extensive, and it reaffirmed my beliefs and made my faith that much stronger.  There were parts that were really hard to read (the details of the crucifixion were explained in medical terms, but were very detailed and explicit), but that made me feel even more in awe of Jesus and the suffering that He went through to save all of us from our sins.

There were a couple of parts of the book that were a little bit slow for me (although, I read this mostly after Daylight Savings Time and I have been exhausted, so that probably played a role), but overall, it was fabulous.  If you’ve ever had doubts about your faith in Jesus, or if you’re looking to strengthen your faith and learn more about Jesus and the Gospel, I encourage you to read this one.

F O U R – Mrs. Meyers Compassion Flower

Yes, I’ve talked about this soap on the blog before, but since spring is here, I thought I’d share about it again!  This is my favorite Mrs. Meyers scent for spring and summer, so I always load up this time of year.  Mrs. Meyers soaps are clean and don’t have all of the chemicals that so many other soaps do, and they all smell so fresh and fabulous.  I don’t really know how to describe the scent of this soap to you because it is so unique, so all I can say is – order some for yourself!  You won’t regret it.  When I went to grab the link from Target, the page says that I have ordered it 7 times.  And each time I order, I order multiple bottles.  Lol.

F I V E – A Random Text That Made My Day

Back in February I was having a really bad day.  My vertigo and dizziness issues were prevalent all day, my neck tension was a 10/10 bad, and there were lots of little things that went wrong all day.  Near the end of the day, I was feeling exhausted and defeated, and I sat down to do my quiet time.  I had just started praying about everything that was going on, and literally 30 seconds later I got this text message:

I have no idea who it was from.  The area code is nowhere near where we live.  I Googled the number and couldn’t find any information on the owner of the number.  For all I know it could have been a scam or a mistake or a prank, but in that moment, it felt like such a God wink.  <3

Sometimes I hesitate to share things like this here because it makes me feel vulnerable, hence the reason I've been sitting on this for so long, but ultimately, I decided to share it to let all of you know that if you're going through something that seems never-ending (vertigo and anxiety for me), there is always hope.  Don't ever lose that hope.
