We had a great
week, and we’re looking forward to an even better week this week because the
kids only have school for 3.5 days because it’s almost fall break!!!! Let’s get to the recap!
Monday, September 28
Monday morning, I got to snooze an extra time. Brian sleeps a little later on Mondays and Fridays since he works from home, so I always sleep a little later, too. :o)
When we woke up, it was a brisk 56 degrees outside which was THE BEST THING EVER, and I dropped the kids off at school in leggings and a pullover!!!! Can you tell I’m excited?! Haha.
We had to decorate the school campus for fall on Monday morning, so we waited for the car line to finish running, and while I waited, I did some blog housekeeping, I went through my emails, and I chatted with one of my faaaavorite people – HI TRISH!!
Once everyone had arrived, I met them outside the main office and Kate had already filled her SUV with all the things we needed, so we were able to get straight to work.
We always put out fall wreaths, bows, and an abundance of scarecrows around campus, and we also decorate the main office. It looked so festive when we were done, and I was home by 9:30 AM.
Right when I walked in the door, I started prepping dinner for us as well as one of my friends and her family since she recently had surgery. On the menu was beef stroganoff in the slow cooker. I had to brown the stew meat and chop some onions, so it took a little more prep than your average slow cooker meal where you just dump everything in.
Once it was in there, I cleaned up and I left Belle in the kitchen while I got to work. I had to finish my blog post for Tuesday, and I didn’t have much time, so I didn’t want to be bothered with watching her while I worked.
I paused my work to eat lunch with Brian, and then I worked on my blog post some more, and I also did two loads of laundry.
Before picking up the kids, I let Belle out and played fetch with her for a long time, and then I was on my way to the car line. I caught up on organizing a few lists in my phone while I waited, and we were on our way right after they dismissed.
When we got home, I finished preparing dinner for our friends. I had to add the noodles, toss a salad, and bag it all up along with the baguette and chocolate chip cookies that I was including.
While the noodles were cooking, I finally finished my blog post for Tuesday (and boy, did I rush through it, so there were oodles of typos last week), and then it was time to head out.
Olivia had to be at dance at 4:30 PM, and after I dropped her there, I headed to my friend’s house to drop off dinner. We ended up chatting for 30 minutes, and her sister (who is also my friend) stopped by to chat, too.
I had to head home to finish preparing our dinner after that, and right when I walked in the door, Brian left to pick up Olivia. I got the noodles ready for our pasta and I steamed some broccoli (since my family won’t eat salad), and I warmed some bread.
When Brian and Olivia walked through the door we sat down to eat, and then we all cleaned the kitchen. Brian wanted to swing by CVS and Walmart after dinner, and I left the kids to play with Belle and get showered while I went for my walk.
Tuesday, September 29
Tuesday morning, I woke up at 6 AM, I got ready, and I did my morning things – unload the dishwasher, eat breakfast, take vitamins, etc. – and then I dropped the kids off at school. I was thrilled because I had nowhere to be Tuesday, and the kids didn’t need to be picked up until 4 PM since Olivia had Velocity after school, so I had a nice, long stretch of 7.5 hours at home to get stuff done. After flying by the seat of my pants all day Monday, that felt really good!
I grabbed a piece of leftover brown sugar pound cake that Momma had sent home with me on Sunday + a cup of caramel crème coffee, and I got to work! On the list for Tuesday was:
-
Work on some blog housekeeping
-
Catch up on emails
-
Finish my blog post for Wednesday
-
Start my blog post for Friday
-
Start my blog post for Monday
-
Start my blog post for Tuesday
-
Catch up on a few things in my planner
-
Do four loads of laundry
I also decided to start posting to do lists in my Instagram stories again from time to time, and the first one went up Tuesday. There was such an influx of positive feedback from y’all that I just decided to start doing them every day again… but I’ve changed a few things about them to keep them interesting. ;o)
We went back upstairs to my office after that so I could transfer the photos from my phone to my computer, and then I worked on organizing them while Belle slept some more (after she peed on the rug in my office, of course). Grrrr.
Around 12:30 PM, I decided to eat lunch. Belle was sleeping peacefully so I really didn’t want to wake her, but my hunger won out, and I scooped her up and took her downstairs. I sat outside with her while I finished my lunch, and then we headed back to my office where she lay right back down to snooze some more. While she slept, I turned on You’ve Got Mail for some happy background noise and I finished my blog post for Wednesday, and I finished my blog post for Monday.
I had to flip the laundry after that, and while I was up, I let Belle out and grabbed a cup of hot tea and a couple of leftover cookies that Brian had made. When I got back to my office, I had to work on a few more tasks…
-
Make my hair appointment
-
Clean out one of my lists in my List Master app
-
Correct some blog typos
-
Clean off computer desktop
After that, it was time to get ready to pick up the kids, so I turned off
the dryer and lay out the last of the clothes, I let Belle out, and I drove to
the school to pick up the kids. Olivia
had really enjoyed her first Velocity meeting, and Jacob had enjoyed hanging
out with his friends after school for a bit.
When we got home, I threw some chicken nuggets in the oven for Olivia, and then I watered the indoor plants and did two Bible studies. I started putting away the laundry, but I didn’t have time to finish because it was time to take Olivia to dance.
When I got home, Brian and I made breakfast for dinner together, and he and Jacob and I all ate together. After the kitchen was clean, I went for a two-mile walk, and on my way home, I had to stop and snap a picture of this cutie ghost that our neighbors hung in their tree. I’ve been seeing them all over social media this year, and they’re even cuter in person!
We went in as it was getting dark, and Jacob and I both got ready for bed. When Brian and Olivia got home, she got ready for bed, and then we watched one episode of Friends before the kids went to bed. Brian and I watched some more of Saturday Night Live and then we went to bed, too… me with my warmer in hand, of course. There is nothing better than getting in a pre-warmed bed when it’s chilly.
Oh, and that night when I checked my Timehop (look at my streak!), there was a quote from the best show of all time at the end. ;o) Oh, how I miss Matthew Perry.
Wednesday, September 30
Wednesday morning, I got up at 6 AM, I got ready, and then the kids and I loaded Belle up in the car with us because she was going to get her first haircut. She and I dropped the kids off at school, and our resource officer stuck his head in the window so he could give her some pets, and then we were on our way to the groomer.
We are taking her to the same place we took Maui her whole life, and the lady who groomed Maui was gushing over Bellie and how she’s already way bigger than Maui ever was. I left her in good hands, and then I headed home. I grabbed a cup of coffee and one of my protein breakfast bars, and I got started on my list for the day:
-
Catch up on emails
-
Work on blog post for Friday
-
Work on this blog post
-
Start blog post for 10/7
-
Start and finish blog post for 10/12
The groomer called at 11 AM to say that Belle was almost ready, so I
drove over there to pick her up. She
looks so different now with her hair out of her face, but she looks so
cute! And while I was there, the people
who work there were all telling me how much they miss Maui, and they kept
talking about how tiny she is. We miss
her so much, too.
When Belle and I got home, I spent some time with her outside, then I ate my lunch while she ate, too. We went outside a little longer after that, and then we went to my office so I could finish my blog post for 10/7. By the time I stopped working for the day, I had three future posts completed and two in the final stages. Woo hoooo!
After school, we had nowhere to be since the kids have zero activities on Wednesdays, so we headed home, the kids did homework, and then they had some video game time while I did a Bible study in my office. After my Bible study, I did a couple of quick loads of laundry, I added a few things to my planner, I looked at my rolling to do list to see what I could tackle on that, and I put all the laundry away from the week. I also tidied our bedroom and bathroom since things had gotten messy. We also had a bunch of toilet paper and tissues that Brian had gotten in bulk from Sam’s that needed to be put away, so I did that, too.
Mini pizzas were on the menu Wednesday evening, and since the kids were home, I asked them if they wanted to make them. They were both excited – they love getting in the kitchen! – so they did that while I got the house cozy for the evening, turning on all the twinkle lights, putting pumpkin spice in the diffuser, and turning on our Halloween playlist since it was October-Eve!
After the kids went to bed, Brian and I watched some more of SNL, and then we went to bed, too.
Thursday, October 1
Thursday morning, I had my lab appointment for my annual well visit, so I couldn’t eat breakfast. I dropped the kids at school and headed straight to my appointment. I was in and out in just a few short minutes, and then I headed home to eat because I was starving. I used to skip breakfast all the time in high school and college, but I could never do that now. Eating first thing in the morning used to make me feel sick, but now I feel sick when I don’t eat!
After breakfast, I went outside with Belle for a bit, and then she and I went up to my office. She was being crazy yet again, trying to chew everything in sight, so I sent her back downstairs to the kitchen while I got some work done. On the to do list Thursday was:
-
Finish my blog post for Friday
-
Work on this blog post
-
Shop for school tailgate and price all items
-
Email other middle school room moms with info
-
Venmo one of the room moms for reimbursement for
tailgate decor
-
Start blog post 10/9
I went downstairs to check on Belle, let her out, play fetch with her for
a bit, and eat lunch after that, and then we went back to my office, and she
actually settled down in her bed right away.
Thank goodness. Haha. While she slept, I tackled a few more tasks:
-
Catch up on emails
-
Look at links Olivia sent to me for her Halloween
costume
-
Catch up on responding to blog comments
-
Catch up on blog reading
-
Look into using Feedly for blog reading since
Blogger is still messed up
-
Blog housekeeping
When we got home, I made some of this mac and cheese for Olivia since she had her long dance night, and then I did a Bible study and my devotional while I enjoyed a cup of tea.
I dropped Olivia off at dance, and the traffic was so horrendous going in the opposite direction (the route I usually take back home) that I went home a completely different way. I stopped to put gas in my car on the way home, and I also started listening to the new episode of The Swiftie and the Scholar. They’ve been working their way through Folklore, my favorite Taylor Swift album of all-time, and they wrapped it up this week.
When I got home, I started cooking dinner. The boys and I had sausage, peppers, and onions tacos with tortilla chips and fruit.
After we were done eating, we cleaned the kitchen and I vacuumed thoroughly (again) because Belle had brought a stick in the house and had completely shredded it under the kitchen table. Hahahaha.
After dinner, Jacob printed some sheet music and then he started working on the song, and I was thrilled to hear that it was The Great Pumpkin Walz by Vince Guaraldi (from It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown). As I listened to the notes float through the house, I folded all the cleaning rags and put them away, and then I went to my office to tackle a few more things – I cleaned out and organized part of my Lists app and I started getting organized for Amazon Prime Big Deal Days.
After that, Brian headed to the dance studio to pick up Olivia, Jacob got in the shower, and I did a stair stepper workout. While I was on the stair stepper, I put some notes in my Lists app about Grandparent’s Day for next year since I’m sure I’ll be chairing it again. After every big event, I like to do an after-action review so I can think about what went well and what needs improving, so I wanted to get all my notes down while they were still fresh in my mind. I also love that I was able to workout in the outfit I was already wearing.
I also had to set an alarm for the Tooth Fairy because Olivia had lost a tooth Thursday and she had reminded us right before bed that the Tooth Fairy forgot to come. Lol.
Friday, October 2
Friday morning, I snoozed one extra time, and then I got showered and ready for the day. After I dropped the kids off at school, I headed home, made my coffee, grabbed my protein breakfast bar, and Bellie and I went to my office where she promptly curled up in her bed and went to sleep. You just never know what you’re going to get with her… some days she wants to chew on everything in sight, and some days she’s a perfect, sleepy, little angel. Hahahaha.

By the time all that was done, it was time for lunch! Brian and I ate together, and then I got
right back to it… I had lots of catching up to do on my end of the year blog
post, so I started working on that for a while.
I ended up getting caught up through the end of July, so I’m still a
couple of months behind, but I’m getting there!
Every year I say I’m going to stay on top of it, and every year I get
behind!
Also, while I was going through old photos from this past year, Y’ALL, I realized something!!!! Remember when the kids and I went to look at puppies back in July just for fun and I told them not to fall in love because we weren’t getting a puppy? And then we went and played with the cutest Yorkie, and I thought it was a girl but the person there told me it was a boy? But we had fun and took pictures with it anyway?
I was going through those photos for my year-end post, and I couldn’t believe it because, y’all, IT WAS BELLE. That guy was wrong about the dog being a boy and he had the puppies mixed up! That first dog we ever held was totally Bellie and now I know more than ever she was meant to be because she was literally the first puppy we ever looked at since Maui passed away. We saw her that day and made a beeline for her out of all the other puppies there! I don’t know why I never made the connection… I guess once the guy told us she was a boy I believed him and we dropped it. But he was obviously wrong because LOOK AT HER!!!!
I stopped around 1:30 so I could catch up on few other things, and then I got the text from Sam’s saying my order was ready for pickup which was the absolute perfect timing because it was exactly when I needed to go get it before I had to pick up the kids.
I pulled up there in spot #4 and a guy was out there to load everything within five minutes. Then, I was on my way to the car line!
After school, my friend, Christy, who’s the other seventh grade room mom with me this year, stopped by our house to grab all the drinks from me so she could put them in her giant cooler and get them iced down before the tailgate.
Brian and the kids helped me get everything else inside, and then Olivia finished an assignment that was due by the end of the day, Jacob played video games, and I did a Bible study + started thinking about content for 2027. I also made my to do list for Saturday and it was a fun one. ;o)
By the time all that was done, it was time to freshen up, load the car, and then head to Little Caesars to pick up 20 pizzas – yes, 20! – for the tailgate. We had a lot of mouths to feed!
The pizzas were ready when we arrived, so we loaded them all into the car, and then we went to the school. When we got there, we made two trips with our wagon to get everything from the car to the tailgate, and then I helped the other middle school room moms decorate and set up our table.
We had to have the tailgate tables cleaned up completely by halftime, though, which was perfect for us since we were planning to leave at halftime. We had to get home to Belle, and I was ready to get into my PJs. ;o)
Olivia was sleeping over at her friend, Caroline’s, house Friday night, so she stayed at the game, and then she and Caroline spent the rest of the night watching movies, making and eating a candy salad, playing games, making up dances to Taylor Swift’s new songs, and then baking homemade chocolate chip muffins the next morning. :o)
When the boys and I got home, Jacob and I both showered, and Brian played with Belle. She was very full of energy after being in the bathroom all night, so Brian got on the floor and helped her get out some of her zoomies. She was barking at him and spinning around and it was so hilarious.
We all went downstairs to hang out for a bit after that. Brian and Jacob started watching Bumblebee, and I scrolled through social media for a bit while I sat with them since I wasn’t interested in the movie.
They didn’t finish the movie since they’d started it so late, and then Jacob went to bed a little before 11 PM. Brian and I still wanted to watch Ted Lasso, so we made toasted marshmallow old fashioneds and stayed up really late doing that. I don’t think we went to bed until nearly 1 AM.
Saturday morning, I was up at 8:30 AM, and I headed downstairs to let Belle out since I was the first one up. After that, I popped some cinnamon rolls in the oven. We usually have those on Sunday morning, but since Olivia wasn’t home, we decided to have them Saturday. She doesn’t like cinnamon rolls (CRAZY, RIGHT?!) so I thought we could just eat them while she wasn’t home.
While those baked, I unloaded the dishwasher and tidied the whole kitchen. It looked like a bomb had gone off there since we’d been gone all of Friday night.
Brian slept suuuuper late Saturday morning, so Jacob and I had breakfast together and then B came down shortly after we were done. We turned on College GameDay and started it from the beginning, fast forwarding through commercials until we got caught up. I curled up with my cup of coffee and parked it right there for the rest of the morning.
We all ate lunch together after GameDay was over and then we turned on the UGA vs. Vanderbilt football game. I sat on the couch and watched for a bit, and then I brought all my planning materials down to the kitchen table so I could get my 2027 planner all set up while I watched the game. The game wasn’t close, so I didn’t have to give it my full attention.
I got my planner completely filled in for 2027 – all birthdays, anniversaries, appointments (so far), meetings (so far), etc. It’s all ready to go, so I’m feeling pretty on top of things!
We decided to stop at Chick-Fil-A so we could try their new chicken and waffles sandwich, and OH MY WORD, y’all, that thing was so delicious. The crispy CFA chicken on those maple flavored waffles (as the bun) + the bacon was perfection. It didn’t look that impressive, but it sure tasted good! They give you maple syrup to drizzle all over it, too.
My friend, Jeannine, texted late in the afternoon to invite Jacob to watch Beetlejuice downtown for one of the movie nights that our local theater was putting on. We left Joy and Greg’s at 7:45 PM to get him there at 8 PM, and Olivia and I walked him in. It was just the cutest thing! They had a big screen outside in a big outdoor theater space, a concession stand, and the movie was free! The weather was awesome, too – it wasn’t too hot (although, it was a little too warm for October) and it was breezy since we had a bunch of rain moving in overnight.
Jeannine brought Jacob home a little after 10 PM, and then the kids went to bed around 10:30 PM. Brian and I finished the night with more college football, and I worked on some social media planning / ideas going forward. I’ve used PicMonkey for years to edit all my photos, so I finally downloaded the app on my phone so I could use it there for Instagram graphics (I usually make them on my computer because I feel like I’m so much faster / more efficient there than on my phone), and I started playing around with some content for fun.
When I put up a box the other day in my Instagram stories, most of you gave ideas for the blog, but there were quite a few who said that they wanted to see more from me on Instagram, so I’m going to try my best to step it up over there even though this is how I really feel about creating Reels...
Sunday, October 4
Sunday morning, I slept until 9 AM (which is late for me), I let Belle out, and from the get-go she was being soooo baaaad. She was trying to bite my toes and pants from the second I let her out of her bathroom, and she wouldn’t go potty outside.
I was the only one up, so I had to keep an eye on her, but trying to make waffles and take care of a puppy who’s acting crazy is tough. Haha. After I removed the first waffle from the waffle iron I saw that it had come out all weird, so I had to rack my brain to figure out what was wrong. I’ve been making these same homemade waffles for 15+ years, and I’ve never had one turn out poorly, so at first, I thought something was wrong with the waffle iron. I then went back through the ingredients in my head, and I realized I had forgotten to put oil in the batter. So, I mixed the oil into the batter and put some more on the iron.
Well, the second waffle turned out exactly the same way as the other (and it was gross), so I had to rack my brain again, and it was then that I realized I had used cornstarch instead of baking powder. Lol. I have never once done that in my life, so I blame Bellie for being such an annoying distraction.
I ended up having to throw out the entire batch of batter (which I haaaate… man, I hate wasting food) and I had to start all over again. By the time we sat down to eat, it was almost 10 AM, which is insanely late for us to be eating breakfast on the weekend. And all the while, Belle was nipping at my toes until everyone else finally got up and came downstairs to take her out.
I was in such a tizzy because the countertop was a disaster, my brain was boggled, all my measuring cups and spoons were dirty and had already been tossed in the sink, and I was so irritated with Belle, so it wasn’t the best start to the day. Haha. Everything turned around after that, though, thank goodness, and the rest of the day went more smoothly.
Well, I say that, and then I remember what happened next. I took Belle to my office because I didn’t want her to have to be alone downstairs since Brian was working a bit in his office and the kids were playing video games, and within 15 minutes of being in there, she peed on the floor. Sigh. We have no idea what got into her this weekend, but she was so bad. It’s a good thing she’s cute! Haha.
I banished her to doggie jail after that AKA the kitchen, and then I went back to my office to get everything done that I needed to do:
-
Transfer photos from my phone to my computer
-
Make my to do list for the day
-
Get my planner ready for the week ahead
-
Organize the photos I’d transferred
-
Catch up on emails
-
Make notes for next year’s tailgate (had to do
another after-action review!)
After lunch, we cleaned the kitchen, I threw the towels in the washer, the kids showered, I worked on this blog post to get it caught up, and then I edited some photos… all while watching my fall happy background noise… You’ve Got Mail. ;o)
It was time to shower and get ready for Mass after that, and then Brian and the kids and I all piled in the car and headed to the church.
After church, we picked up Belle and headed to my parents’ house for Sunday dinner. My Aunt Mary was still in town from our gathering Saturday evening, so she joined us at Sunday dinner, too. Momma made slow cooker ravioli, and it was so delicious.
We headed home around 8 PM, and once everybody was in pjs and ready for bed, we watched two episodes of Friends. Brian and I ended the evening with some more of Outer Banks, and then we headed to bed, too.
Happy Tuesday, y’all!

Yay for fall break! I am sat here in leggings and a sweater and I am happy about it being cooler too! It sounds like a busy Monday and how nice to have a day at home on Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Timehop is a blast from the past, I used to use that and then forgot all about it.
Aww! Belle looks beautiful after her groom.
I am doing an end of year blog post after you gave the me the idea and every time you mention yours I go and work on mine. hehehe
That is amazing that the first dog you held was Belle and the guy got it wrong. It was meant to be!
The tailgate looks like a lot of fun!
