Confessions {3.10.2016}

I enjoyed myself so much last week that I thought I would link up again with Jess to get a few more things off my chest.

I confess…

…that I am completely over these last two weeks.  Between Brian travelling, non-stop tantrums from both kids, and Brian and Olivia both being sick it’s been a less than stellar couple of weeks.  I just want a nice weekend this weekend… is that too much to ask?!

… that our kids have been insane these last few weeks.  Is there something in the air?  Spring fever?  Full moon?  Something bad going on in the zodiac?  Bad karma?  Some freakish supernatural weirdness going on?  I mean, seriously!  Y’all gon’ make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here…

…that after 40-something days of pooping only on the potty and no accidents (finally) Jacob has pooped in his pants three times this past week.  On purpose.  I mean, I just want to snatch him up and say, “WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOOOOU?!  YOU’RE ALMOST FIVE YEARS OLD!!!!  STOOOOP IIIIT.”  Remember that poo-poo party that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago?  Yeah, that’s been cancelled until further notice.  (I know you were all dying to hear about it, but we’ll have to save it for another day.  Hehe.)

…that after all of the crap that’s happened in the last couple of weeks I’m about ready to skip town.  I need an adult only vacation, like, yesterday.

…that I’m starting to hate working full-time outside the home.  I never thought that I was the stay at home momma type, but now that Jacob is in real school and not daycare it’s been a real pain in the ass trying to figure out who’s going to watch him on all of his 25692004 days off – fall break, Christmas break, spring break, summer break, President’s Day, Easter Monday, National Hot Dog Day (just kidding, I made that one up) – but seriously.  The days off!  AAAAHHHH.  I just want to be available to stay home with him on all those days off, and I want to be able to drop him off and pick him up in the regular car line instead of making him go to the early and after school programs, and most of all, I want to be able to stay home with both of my kids when they’re sick!  I am their mother, and all anybody ever wants when they’re sick is their mother.  Is that too much to ask?  Not to mention it would also be nice not to have to worry about juggling my work schedule for doctor’s appointments, early dismissals, and class parties either.  And then I could even volunteer at the school or be the room mom, too!  Sigh… maybe one day…

All this being said, overall, we are so incredibly blessed and I know that we have nothing to complain about compared to some people.  However, everybody is entitled to a little whining every now and then and it feels good to let it all out.  Thank you, Jess, for this outlet.  I'll try to keep it a little more lighthearted next week.  Haha.

And if you missed last week's confessions, you can read them here.

  2. haha I'm dying laughing at this :) I would LOVE for us to get out of school on National Hotdog day haha!!! But really, I understand how you feel and I think it would be hard to work full time with two little kids and crazy schedules. You're an awesome mama!

  4. OMG I so feel ya on needing an adult vacation!! And the kids, we're right there with you with the whining and the meltdowns, some days we are so over it! I always wonder how people who work outside the home make it work when the kids get into school, I'm sure it's super stressful, I'm sorry Mama!! Hoping your weekend will be relaxing!

  5. I say you, me and Lzzie meet up somewhere and enjoy a drink together! These last two months have been difficult up here. Cabin Fever has been oh-so-real and this Mama has been feeling it for sure. Yes, I'm right there with you, we're so blessed and I love my kids more than ANYTHING, but we're allowed to whine. It's hard. It's stressful. It's beautiful. We've got this!

  6. OH man, I'm so sorry you've had a rough week, Lindsay! I can't relate to having sick kiddos, unfortunately we don't have any yet. But I bet you are just exhausted...and on top of that work! Hats off to you! You definitely deserve a vacay or even a nice pamper day! Hope you can find some time for yourself soon. :)

  7. I can really relate to your confession about not loving being a working Mom. I'm not the SAHM mom type either, and we are still over a year away from Kindergarten but I've wondered those things already. Since Neal is a teacher some of their days off will align... but there will be "no school" days were Neal will need to work to do grades.. and then what?? I will need to try and balance my job to accommodate those days, and I want to be able to go on some field trips and things.. how is that all going to work??? Hope you get your much needed relaxing weekend! xoxo

  8. I love this! Some days I want to just get it all off my chest for 5 min then go back to kicking ass. I feel you, right now I'm still working (tomorrow I go on Maternity leave) so the toddler goes to early preschool and late preschool so that I can pick him up since dad works till 7:30pm most days. However I'm going to be a stay at home mom once my leave it us. I'm excited and nervous. I'm excited because like you said there is so many days off that its hard to work and watch them. Plus we have zero family around us. So since I'm preggo I usually called in to work to stay home with him when he was sick or there was no school. My biggest worry is I'll get bored or depressed while he is away. Yes we will have our new son with us but I don't see him being real chatty over coffee right off the bat. I feel like there is no win with this sometimes. If you work you miss out on so much with them, if you don't you miss out on doing things for yourself. Good luck with the potty issues too!! I'm so not looking forward to that. Now enjoy this upcoming weekend ( or at least take a nice warm bath)

    1. Oh gosh, Spencer, I can't imagine have no family around. We do at least have that going for us for weekend baby-sitting. I wish my parents could retire and help a girl out! Haha.

I can't wait to follow along with you and see how you like being a SAHM. I never thought that I could do that, but now I'm changing my mind!

I hope that you guys have a great weekend!

  9. I hope that the schedules will work out for you guys and maybe being a SAHM is in your future!! I know that my sister loves her career but struggles with wanting to be home with the kids too...but they know you love them so so much!! That's the best part! xo, biana -BlovedBoston

  10. I need an adult only vacation too. My girls have been sick, teething molars and not sleeping as well as they used too. Please oh please let this be a phase. I am sorry that Jacob has been pooping his pants. I cant even imagine that (yet) and feeling like you are starting all over again with potty training. I would love to be a SAHM too, but then there are days where I wouldn't want to. But when my girls are sick, that is definitely a time I wish I could be at home with them.

  11. Hang in there! Why can't us mamas get paid to stay home with our littles when they need us without punishment!? I hope things get better for you in the new few days/weeks!

  12. Aw, I completely agree with you on the staying with your kiddos. I feel very lucky to have this time with Ben. It puts all Moms in a very difficult spot. I think companies need to do a better job of creating a real work/life balance and offering shorter hours, etc.

  13. My work friends have little kids and they definitely have to struggle with juggling everything. I admire moms who work full time for handling it all! Hopefully the longer days will help!
