Five On Friday - Two Nights Out

Happy Friday!  I’m feeling refreshed and ready for the day after a good night’s sleep last night.  Had to get caught up after our late night out Wednesday night.

Two nights out this week.  Two nights out!  I can’t even remember when the last time was that I had two nights out in the same week, but it was sure good for my soul!  #MomLife

O N E – Ladies’ Night

Monday evening I met some friends for margaritas at our favorite local Mexican restaurant.  One was my best friend whom I get to see all the time, but the other two moved away almost three years ago – one to Washington and one to Alaska… sheesh!  Since they have been clear across the country for the last three years I hadn’t seen either of them in what seemed like forever, so it was a wonderful reunion.  We spent the evening catching up over drinks (and water for preggo) and it was such a wonderful time.  We talked non-stop.  Becks, AKA Miss Alaska, headed back to Alaska this week (just in the nick of time since she can’t fly anymore after this week – hello belly!), but Eryn, AKA Miss Washington, is here to stay for a while, which means – more ladies at ladies’ night!  I just don’t know what I would do without my girl time!

T W O – Date Night with the Hubs to See…

Mid-week date night, what what?!  Those are pretty much unheard of now that we have two little nuggets to take care of, but boy was it nice spending some time with my favorite!  Interruption-free, I might add…

T H R E E – …Elton John!!!!

All I have to say is WOW.  He is just amazing.  I’ve always loved his music so when I found out that he was coming I knew that we had to go.  He most definitely did not disappoint.  He played 26 songs over 2.5 hours and it was just phenomenal!  He played the perfect mix of new and old – a few new songs for us to get to know – and he played all of the old favorites – Your Song, Tiny Dancer, Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets, Candle in the Wind, Yellow Brick Road, Rocketman, and my fave Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.  (They always play that in the stadium in Athens on Saturdays before football games – hence, my fave.)

Our seats were incredible – just to the side of the stage and six rows back.  His piano was right there in front of us, and at first I was disappointed that he had his back to us, but it was even better because we could see his hands as he played the piano.  So cool to watch.  He was really energetic and he would jump up after every song and walk over to each corner of the stage waving and getting everyone all hyped up.  I have nothing but great things to say about the entire thing.  If you ever get a chance to see him, DO IT.

F O U R – And Make it a Double

My parents joined us for the concert so we had a fun little double date night!  They actually started dating in the early seventies when Elton’s music was becoming popular, so it was the perfect trip down memory lane for both of them.

F I V E – And While We Were Away…

The baby-sitter and the children were playing!  Our baby-sitter is Jacob’s old teacher from his two year old class at daycare.  She was always his favorite teacher, so it works out perfectly that she baby-sits on the side.  We know we can call her when we need a night out and our parents can’t watch the kids.  And most importantly, it’s nice to know that Jacob and Olivia are in good hands while we’re gone… she works at a daycare so she has loads of experience and she also loves our babies like her own.  I never worry one bit when we leave them with her.  We are so blessed to have her in our lives.  And look at the hilarious texts I got while we were away...

Happy weekend, all!  I hope you all have weekends filled with relaxation, productivity, or whatever it is that your little heart desires!
