Five on Friday - Workout Top, Herb Garden, and a New Mural in Town

I’ve missed a couple of Five on Friday posts recently and I miss doing them so much!  There’s lots to share today so let’s get started!

O N E – New Workout Top

I’m very picky about workout tops and I have a hard time finding ones that fit all of my criteria – sleeveless, stylish, affordable, won’t shrink in the dryer, and long enough to cover my butt since I always work out in leggings.  I’ve found several different tops at Walmart and Target throughout the years that start out looking good, but after the first wash and dry they always shrink and then don’t cover my butt anymore.

I found these workout tanks on Amazon and put them on my birthday wish list, and my mother-in-law bought two for me.  Y’all, they are PERFECT!!!!  They’re sleeveless, they fit like a dream, the twist-knot front is flattering and adorable, they cover my entire butt but they’re not too long, THEY DON’T SHRINK!!!!, and they’re only $13.99.  Yes, please!!!!  I’ve been rotating both of these since I got them and I’m head over heels!  They come in five different colors (including a tie-dye version) and I seriously want all of them!!

T W O – Herb Garden

My mother-in-law is a gardener – she has a massive garden in her back yard complete with lettuce, tomatoes, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, multiple herbs, carrots, lemons, limes, and so many more things.  There is nothing that she can’t grow.  Last year for my birthday, she gave me seven pots of herbs and I kept them up all summer and fall.  There is nothing more satisfying than caring for and growing something that you can eat right from your own back yard.

Back at the beginning of March, she offered to plant new herbs for me in my planters for my birthday and I jumped at the chance!  We carried the empty pots over to her house one Sunday afternoon, and then she brought the filled pots back to our house a couple of weeks later.  I am now the proud owner of my very own basil, oregano, mint, rosemary, cilantro, parsley, chives, and thyme.

I have enjoyed having them out there these last few weeks and I’ve used them countless times.  It’s so nice to be able to walk outside on my own back porch to cut some fresh basil for pasta or fresh cilantro for guac or fresh mint for a cocktail!  Plus, they really add ambiance to our back porch.

T H R E E – Macy’s Sale

Macy’s has had so many great deals during this quarantine that I thought it was worth mentioning.  The majority of their apparel has been deeply discounted (we’re talking at least 50% off in most cases!), and on top of that, you can get an additional 25% off of your entire purchase + free shipping on $25 or more!!

When browsing last week, I came across numerous tops that were only $10-$15 each, marked down from $50+!  So if you’re in need of some new clothes or clothes for your kids, be sure to check out Macy’s.  I don’t really think to shop there often, but when I do, I’m always impressed!

This is a super cute top that's marked down right now.

And this one is only $14.99!

F O U R – New Mural in Town

There’s a new mural in town!  Woop woop!  Y’all know how obsessed I am with street art, and I absolutely love that our city is embracing it and working so hard to cultivate a city-wide appreciation for the arts.  The artist is Evelyn Henson and she’s known for her gorgeous Confetti Hearts Wall in Charlotte, NC.  I’ve been ogling that wall for months and trying to figure out a reason to go there so I could visit it.  Haha.  I was so excited when I found out she did a mural here, too!!

This new one is right up my alley – it’s bright, it’s cheerful, and it’s all of the colors of the rainbow!  We went to check it out for the first time on Mother’s Day and it did not disappoint!  We went in the late afternoon when the sun was beating down from the right side, so we struggled to get good pictures.  I’m hoping to go back one day in the morning so we can try to get some pictures before the direct sunlight hits it.

F I V E – The Way the Kids Close the Chip Bags

This is so random, and it drives me crazy sometimes, but I know it’s something I’m always going to want to remember… how the kids close the chip bags.  Hahahaha.  Every single time they get done eating chips, they attempt to roll up the bag and put the chip clip back on, but they fail every single time.  Most days I catch it before they put them away, but sometimes I go to get chips out of the pantry and I pull out something that looks like this:

Hahahaha.  It always gives me such a good laugh and I know I’ll miss it one day.

  1. Macy's has been offering some great deals during this time! I always like to look at the Free People sale items - some great deals can be had! I love that you have your own little herb garden. I tried when I first got my place, but they didn't do so hot. I might have to try again with a bigger pot - I think that was what my mom said was the problem last time. Cracking up over the chips - they sure tried. :)

  5. I love murals! They're so beautiful. Your workout top requirements also meet my requirements so I'll have to check those out. Lol, love your herb garden! My mom grows herbs as well and always uses fresh basil for her pasta recipes and it's so tasty! I planted a lot of veggies and a couple of herbs this year. So far, my sweet basil is probably a foot and a half tall and my bell peppers are starting to bloom. Woo-hoo.

  6. Your herb garden looks so good! I have several herbs all in one pot, and it's a little overgrown looking. The chips...yes! Have a wonderful weekend! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road

  9. Those workout tanks look great! I like the twist detail. I am very picky about workout tops too and have a really hard time finding ones I like. I typically prefer short sleeve, but they all seem to have more of a cap sleeve which I hate. And the length is always another issue as well! I'll have to check those out! And those memes are great!

  11. That mural is gorgeous! Perfect photo opp. :) And those workout tanks do look perfect -- they'd hide the post-baby (can I still say that 7 months post partum? haha) pooch and I love how the arm holes don't look too huge. Great find!
