Confessions {1.27.2017}

It’s been almost three months since I participated in a good old fashioned confessions link-up.  Three months!

I confess…

… that I was originally scheduled to recap day three of our NYC trip from 2012 today (you can see the first posts here and here) but it was just too involved, so I bailed to do this post instead.  Stay tuned, it’s coming!

… that I feel like I’ve been in a funk these last couple of weeks.  I pretty much always get in some kind of funk in January and February but the funk this year seems to be worse than usual.  #GetMeOut

… that Olivia transitioning to the toddler bed has been a pretty big disaster.  We just can’t get her to stay in it and it seems like she’s scared of her entire room now since we changed it.  The first two nights, Brian laid on the floor in her room until she fell asleep and it took almost an hour each night.  An hour.  Ugh.  Tuesday night we had finally had enough of that as we don’t want to get in a bad habit of staying in there every night, so we bribed her with some new princess underwear… we told her if she will stay in the bed and fall asleep by herself each night for the rest of the week that she can have some new ones this weekend (she is currently in need of some anyway).  This bribery worked the first night, so we’ll see how the remaining nights go and then hopefully it will stick?  In addition to the not staying in the bed at bedtime, she has also taken to creeping in our room and getting into bed with us around 3 AM every night since then, too.  However, instead of sleeping, she would prefer to party, so needless to say, none of us have gotten much sleep this week.  #SendWine

… that due to the lack of sleep this week, I finally took some Nyquil to help me Tuesday night.  I am still sick, so it’s not like I’m just taking it for the sleeping qualities, but I could probably get by without it if it weren’t for that.  #NyquilSevere,ILoveYou  #WhoUsesACommaInAHashtag?

… that since I’ve been so tired in the morning lately, I’ve been reading my daily devotional each night instead of first thing in the morning like I wanted to do for my New Year’s resolutions.  While I would rather start the day with the devotional, this last week it has been more important to get sleep.  At least I’m still reading it, though, right?

… that I got an email for Jacob’s school registration for the 2017-2018 school year about a week ago and I have yet to do anything with it.  He’s obviously staying where he is no question about it, but I dread doing the paperwork every year because it takes so. flipping. long.

… that I “like” all of my own Instagram photos… is that weird??  I’m not necessarily doing it for the extra “like,” it’s just that I’ll be scrolling through my feed and “liking” the other pictures, so when I see my own photo I have the compulsive need to “like” my own picture since I “liked” all of the others.  Haha.  #OCDToTheMax  #TellMeImNotAlone

… that I’ve never seen an entire Hallmark Christmas movie, nor do I want to.  The acting is bad and they are just so cheesy, and I’m sure they’re all predictable, too, so why bother?  My mom, on the other hand?  She lives for them!  #RomanticToTheCore

… that I also can’t stand any movies that make me think weird… anything about psychos or murderers or ghosts or aliens or anything like that is not for me.  When I was little, Flight of the Navigator scared the ever-loving crap out of me.  All I could think about was what if that happened to me?  The real world is bad enough… why do I need to see made up bad stuff??  #SunshineAndRainbowsOverHere

… and speaking of movies, I also can’t stand the old 80’s movies that everyone loves – Sixteen Candles, Back to the Future, Dirty Dancing, Ghostbusters, Teen Wolf, The Breakfast Club… they bore me to absolute tears.  #BlasphemyIKnow #ButGiveMe90sMoviesAnyDay

… oh, and do not get me started on E.T.  He is terrifying and that movie is just about as depressing as it gets.  #AndFunFactThatMovieAndIShareABirthYear

On that note, I think I’ll go edit some pictures from our NYC trip, do Jacob’s registration paperwork, “like” some of my own Instagram photos, chug some Nyquil Severe, and watch a raunchy comedy like This is 40… those are my cup of tea these days!  #GettingOld  #ButNotCloseTo40  #Yet

    1. Haha, sometimes I make myself spit out my own coffee, too. ;o)

I know, I totally need to try to watch Dirty Dancing again. That one, I would probably give another chance! Happy weekend, Heather!

  2. So sorry about Olivia. Transitioning to a bobbed can be so tough!! I hope it gets better with each night. You made me laugh about the 80s movies. I'm not a fan of most. But I do love some hallmark Christmas movies. I watched them all hahah

  3. Fingers crossed things get better really soon with Olivia. I honestly dread the day we have to transition Emmy. Cam was so easy, but I have this feeling she is going to be the opposite. I love Hallmark Christmas movies. Yes they are super cheesy, but I love the holiday feel. Ha ha! Plus I don't have to follow the storyline close since you know they end up together. :)

  4. Hoping things with Olivia start to fall in place & soon! Like Jess, Cash was a breeze. Wyatt, however, I think will give me a run for my money. haha!

Give me all the cheesy romantic Christmas movies. I can have it on in the background & get so much done, come back & still know what happens. lol!

  5. Oh my goodness - Dirty Dancing is my favorite movie of all time. How can you not love it?! And Hallmark Christmas movies are a favorite, too. Yes, cheesy and terrible acting, but I can't get enough of the light hearted fluff. I am totally with you on ET though - I do not get that hype at all! Good luck catching up on some sleep!

  6. No 80's movies!!?? Ooh come on! LOL! That's just plain crazy :)
When we moved Brayden & Ella into a bed we always had a baby gate at their door so they couldn't get out, could you try that or would she bust right through it?? LOL. It's not funny but reading that reminds me of what Avery will be like! I can only imagine how tired you are!!

  7. We are about to transition Shepard to his own toddler bed and I am TERRIFIED! Thanks for your honesty - I have a feeling I will have a similar confession soon! http://www.bormandco.com

    1. EEK, it is SO rough! I hate to worry you about it so early on, though... maybe Shepard will be like Jacob... he did GREAT in his big boy bed. As a matter of fact, he wouldn't get out of it on his own for years! He would always wait for us to come in and get him. Lol.

    1. Yep, that's what everyone is saying... I guess I need to give it another shot!

  9. Oh girl, I feel your pain with the crib to bed transition. Henry was a trooper when we switched him, but Eliza was, and still is, quite the opposite. it's gotten better, but there are still nights that are challenging. Girlfriend likes to party! Much like Olivia. We should just let those girl FaceTime at night! Bahaha!

As for the scary/weird movies, I'm pretty much the same. Or, if it starts out with a death, I'm done. I'd even go as far as to say that some Disney movies have made me so sad from the get go that I just have to turn it off or leave the room. I like comedies or romantic comedies. Nothing sad, weird or purposely scary.

I hope you feel better soon! Hang in there, girl! Think spring thoughts! ;)

  10. Lol! I could write you letters to respond to these kinds of posts.

    1) I am sorry you are feeling bad still. I always reach fore the Nyquil too.
    2) I read it is actually good practice to like your own IG photos. I wont explain the technicals, but keep doing it. I do!
    3) The only 80 movie I love is Dirty Dancing. I think I could change your mind on that one with a viewing party.
    4) The funk is STRONG #reasonsIhatewinter
    5) Happy Friday eve!

  11. Haha I just love confession posts. Did you know that there is a ZZZQuil? Basically Nyquil minus the cold medicine part! I haven't taken it but Mike tried it out and it seemed to help a little!
I have accidentally 'liked' my own photos and then unliked for fear of judgement!! haha so you are not alone!
Jackson discovered the whole climbing into our bed thing..and so we went back to baby gating his door. Sometimes I feel so bad that we do it, but they are still little enough that having them walk through the dark house at night freaks me out!

  12. I feel your pain with the bed transition. Tim STILL has to lay in bed with Mila every night until she falls asleep. And she is STILL getting out of her bed! After 6 months! Sometimes she wakes up more than the baby! It's insane! Good luck, friend. I hope the bribery continues to work for Olivia! And I've never seen a Hallmark Christmas movie, period. They're just not my thing.

  13. It’s been forever since I have done a confessions post as well! Maybe next week! The funk is real. It’s that after Christmas hangover funk. Winter is just not that fun without the excitement of Christmas. I hope you get to feeling better soon! And yes, I’ve liked my own photos before. And then I quickly unlike them. Haha! You crack me up about the movies and your hashtags!!

  14. I'm team sunshine and rainbows too - it drives my husband crazy!
I can handle the "darker: content if its related to history though, so that's how we get around it.

    1. Yes, I usually can, too, that's so true! As for the fictional crazy stuff? No thank you!

  15. This list has tickled me. I hope you get some much needed sleep soon. That's what terrifies me about having kids; I love sleep too much.

And old movies? They bore me too. Maybe if I had seen them in the 80s when they came out, but now? No thanks!

  16. I hope you are feeling better soon!! Being sick is no fun, esp. with kids!! I'll admit I actually like the Hallmark movies. ;) My favorite on is Front of the Class (probably because the lead, Jimmy Wolk, went to my high school).

  17. No 80's movies?! That's crazy talk LOL! I am a HUUUGGE Hallmark Christmas movie fan, I can tell you the ending about 30 seconds into each one, but I still get sucked in every single time!

    1. Right?! I knew I was going to hit a nerve with a lot of people by saying that! Haha. And yes, maybe I need to add "watch a Hallmark movie" to my Christmas bucket list next year... maybe if I watched one I would like it? Haha.

  18. Oh my goodness I'm the same way with old movies!! It drives my husband nuts but I just can't watch them, haha! I hope Olivia gets better with her big girl bed, and that you get more sleep soon!!!

  19. Oh no! Hoping the next several nights start to go smoother for you guys with the toddler bed transition *hugs*. And I will co-sign the never having seen a Hallmark movie in it's entirety, they all seem exactly the same :-P

  21. My mom is OBSESSED with the Hallmark channel movies. I was trying to talk her into canceling cable, because we did it last year and don't regret it at all, but she said she would miss the Hallmark channel too much!! :)

  22. Haha you crack me up! I'm totally with you on the scary movies. I do NOT like scary movies. They terrify me. I still have nightmares from seeing Hocus Pocus (a classic for most) when I was little. Hilarious!

  23. Haha. I love these. So truthful. I love Hallmark movies, but yes they are cheesy. I do like some 80s movies, but Rory LOVES them. He will put one on and I cringe and finally tell him to change it. I just can't with those movies very much. I love scary movies, but not the new ones. They are too real.

  24. I am about to hit the hay and I'm going to take some Nyquil. This virus I have has my sleep totally off and I slept till noon today!
