Before I get started today I just want to say thanks to everyone who texted, emailed, and private messaged me earlier this week. We made it through Irma safely and we managed to stay dry in the process. Winds peaked around 75 mph and the worst of it hit during the day on Monday. We have loads of trees down all over town and we were without power for about 7 hours, but fortunately it was cool outside so we didn’t swelter without the air conditioning. We did have to throw out everything in our refrigerator, but it was a small price to pay compared to what some others are facing. So anyway, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers. They were much appreciated.

Now on to something more
interesting… fall fashion! Since we live
in the south, it typically stays warm here through September, sometimes even
early October, but I like to start transitioning to my fall wardrobe around the
first of September regardless. I have
found three easy things to add to your wardrobe early on in the season that
will leave you looking ready for fall, but won’t cause you to overheat.
O N E – Booties
During the summer, I’m all
about open-toe shoes, sandals, and flip flops – anything to stay cool! Once fall rolls around, flip flops are out
and boots are in, but nobody wants to wear them when it’s still hot outside. Booties are great for transitioning to fall
because they give you that fall look without making your entire leg sweat like taller
boots do. These are my go-to right now. If you want to be even more
comfy, grab a pair of open-toe booties! I
have these and I could not love them more!!
They allow for air to get through the shoe, so they are even cooler. You can pop them on with skinny pants and a
sleeveless blouse or a summer dress to instantly transform your look without
sacrificing your comfort.
Some favorites…
ONE (currently 25% off!) // TWO // THREE |
T W O – Scarves
Scarves are probably my
favorite accessory of all because they’re so versatile. They come in all shapes, colors, and fabrics,
and this time of year any scarf made of light, breathable fabric is perfect to
throw on. It gives you that cozy feeling
in the morning when there’s a slight chill in the air, but it isn’t so heavy
that it’ll have you sweating in the afternoon.
And if it does get really hot during the day, you can always take it off
and nobody will know the difference!
Some favorites…
Leopard // Pink // Buffalo Plaid |
T H R E E – Cardigans
Cardigans are another one of
my favorite transition items because during this time of year layering is everything. Some mornings we wake up to upper fifties and
low sixties, but by the time 4 PM rolls around it might be mid-eighties. It’s always good to start the day with a
cardi to keep warm, and like the scarf, you can always discard it when you get
too hot.
Some favorites…
Cheetah // Green // Polka Dot |
I utilized all three of
these items last year when I challenged myself to wear 365 different outfits in
2016. Accessories played a big part in
that challenge because they allowed me to wear the same dress or combination
but make it look totally different. In
case you missed that post, you can find it here.
What are your fall
transition items?

Yes to Booties! I have a pair of TOMS and they are perfect for Fall and they are comfortable! I was hoping you would talk about cardigans. I need some new ones!
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely on the same page with booties and cardigan! I totally forgot about scarves - I can't wait to break out my new leopard one from the sale! And I still can't believe you did a different outfit for a year - that is so impressive!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely yes to the light scarves & I like my utility jacket as well! Glad you guys are safe! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI have my eye on some open toe booties, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase soon! A cardi is always a great staple for those cool mornings but warm afternoons!!
ReplyDeleteBring on the booties!! I am so excited for those and fall in general. It's definitely been cooler here recently than it normally is in September, which is really weird, but I'm not going to complain. I just hope it isn't a sign of the winter we have to come.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are all Ok!! Yeeeees, bring on the fall fashion!! I love booties but cannot bring myself to wear the open toed ones! LOL! Maybe because when it's chilly here that just doesn't seem right, but I always think they are so cute, just not on me LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo glad it wasn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteI really need to work on my cardigan game this year. I have none. Insert gasping face here.
I love your picks! I just got a pair of grey jeans and a pair of olive pants that I am super excited to add into my outfits! xoxo ERIN. PS so glad you are safe

DeleteI need some ankle boots for sure this year!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad everything worked out for you and like you said it could have been a lot worse. Let's hope all of these crazy storms are behind us. Booties and scarves are my favorite for fall! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteOh, I love all of these! I'm currently using cardigans a lot but I'll be breaking in all my scarves and booties soon. I don't like high boots, so I'll take booties all year long!

DeleteI'm so glad you all are safe!! I love booties and they are my favorite shoes to wear in the fall! I used to be Obsessed with scarves until I had Lilli; now I get too hot in them carrying her around, haha!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes, so true about the scarves!! Plus Olivia wants to always play with mine when I wear them. Haha.
DeleteScarves are my JAM. I add them every fall, and I'm totally in love with blanket scarves this year! I have way too many cardis though haha

Looks like we have some common faves! I love cardigans like these but they just do not fit me well...makes me sad because they really do help create easy outfits this time of year.
