The Perfect Stadium-Approved Clear Bag + GameDay Essentials

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

In the last few years, stadiums and other large facilities that host mass gatherings for big events have implemented rules about the type of bags that they allow inside.  While this does make things a little tricky for patrons, it’s important for everyone’s safety.  That means that if you attend pro sporting events, college sporting events, concerts, and miscellaneous other shows for entertainment, chances are, you’re going to need a stadium-approved bag.

Football season is just around the corner – just five more days!!!! – so it’s almost time to pack those stadium-approved clear bags and have them ready to go!!  I found the perfect stadium-approved clear bag last year, and I thought I’d share it with all of you today, just in time for football season!

A few reasons why I love it…

  1. Despite it’s small-ish size, it holds a ton of stuff!  There is plenty of room for all of my essentials, and then some.
  2. It’s lightweight.
  3. It’s durable and made of good quality materials.  Sometimes on Amazon, you never know what you’re gonna get, but this bag is truly top-notch.
  4. In addition to the main compartment, it also contains a small inside clear pocket to hold smaller items so they don’t get lost in the bottom of the bag.
  5. It has an adjustable strap so you can get the perfect fit whether you’re wearing it as a crossbody bag or by your side.
  6. The shoulder strap is soft and comfortable, even after hours of wear.
  7. The plastic is so soft and supple.  Every single one of the plastic bags I’ve used in the past has always been made of a very thick, stiff plastic that makes it difficult to maneuver in and out, but this one is completely different… the plastic on this bag is so flexible!
  8. The zippers are smooth and high quality, and they’re easy to open and close.
  9. It doesn’t have that weird plastic smell that so many other plastic products have.
  10. It’s easy to clean – just wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe and let it dry.

This bag comes in seven different colors – black, blue, green, grey, maroon, red, and white, so you can select one to match your team’s colors!  It has over 7,000 reviews on Amazon with 4.7 / 5 stars, so I’m not the only one who agrees that it’s a winner.  And now for the best part – it’s only $15.99!

Now that you’ve heard all about the bag, I’m going to share all of the essentials that I carry with me to games, concerts, and other events.  All of these items fit easily in this bag, and I still had room to spare!

  1. Driver’s license
  2. Credit card
  3. Cash
  4. Phone
  5. Charging bank
  6. Keys
  7. Pill box with meds
  8. Gum
  9. Oil roller
  10. Hand sanitizer
  11. Antibacterial hand wipes
  12. Lipstick
  13. Chapstick
  14. Compact
  15. Sunglasses

Five on Friday - Awesome Running Shorts, the BEST Travel Bag, and a Phone Holder

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Hey hey and happy Fridaaaay!!!!  Even though it was a short work week it felt long for some reason, and we’re looking forward to some downtime at home this weekend.  I’m hoping to get a few more spaces cleaned out in our house since I neglected it last weekend in favor of going to Athens.

Are y’all ready for some of my favorites from the week?

O N E – Best Running Shorts

B bought these running shorts for me for Christmas and they are ahhhh-maaaazing.  They are seriously every single thing I’ve been looking for in a running short.  The fabric is soft, the waistband is stretchy and comfortable, and they wick away moisture when you sweat.  They sit perfectly above my hips, but they’re not so high that they’re uncomfortable.  They have built-in underwear for added comfort, and they have a small back zipper pocket for you to store a key or anything else you may need.  The quality of these shorts is incredible, and it’s hard to believe that they’re from Amazon.  If you’re looking for a great pair of workout shorts, I can’t recommend these enough.  And they come in a variety of colors.

T W O – Hanging Travel Bag

My parents bought this hanging travel bag for me for Christmas, and y’all, it is the absolute best thing ever!  I got it all set up last week and used it for the first time on our trip to Athens and I cannot say enough good things about it!  This bag is big enough to hold full-size bottles and there is ample room for every single thing you’d ever need to travel.

There are two main compartments with leakproof chambers, and each of the compartments has mesh pouches and elastic bands that hold bottles upright.  In addition to the two main compartments, there’s another medium sized compartment with a zipper closure (at the bottom), and two additional smaller compartments with zipper closure (at the top).

The compartments fold in so the bag can zip up, and then there’s yet another zipper pouch on the front outer part of the bag.  The best part is that there’s a hanger on the inside of the bag so you can hang it and see everything inside… this is awesome since so many hotels have very little counter space.  I was able to hang mine on the back of the bathroom door and access all items easily which freed up the counterspace for other items.

I was able to fit the following in my bag:

1 contact case

1 pair of extra contacts

5 hair ties

10 bobby pins

1 bottle of shampoo

1 bottle of body wash

1 body scrubber

1 full-size face wash

1 full-size face cream

1 razor in its storage container

1 full-size deodorant

1 full-size Bath & Body Works body cream

1 small bottle of contact solution

1 small bottle of hairspray

1 small bottle of hand lotion

1 pack of Q-tips

1 mini sewing kit

1 container of dental floss

1 small tube of toothpaste

1 travel toothbrush

5 feminine products

1 full-size Wet Brush paddle brush

All of this fits in the bag easily and there is still plenty of room to spare!  The bag has thousands of ratings on Amazon with 4.8 / 5 stars and it’s just a great product.  I highly HIGHLY recommend this bag!  Thank you again, Momma and Daddy!!  :o)  :o)

T H R E E – Phone Holder

This adjustable phone holder was another Christmas gift, and yet another item that I’m loving.  I sit at my desk for several hours every single day and this stand allows my phone to stand upright or sideways for easy access.  It’s adjustable so you can customize the angle.  It has rubber grippers on the back and bottoms so your phone doesn’t slide around, and it’s open on the bottom so you can charge your phone while it rests.  The best part is that it’s so small and sleek that it barely takes up any room on my desk.  It’s such a small, inexpensive thing that has made a HUGE impact in my day-to-day functionality.  And it also comes in five other colors if you don't like rose gold.  ;o)

F O U R – 90’s Pop Station

I know I mentioned this already on the blog, but the 90’s pop station on Amazon has been one of my favorites these last couple of weeks!  If you have an Echo device in your home, just ask Alexa to play 90’s pop music.  She will then play theeee best mix of music for you for free, and you’ll be guaranteed to be jamming all day and night long.  I’ve listened for hours and hours these last couple of weeks, and I can’t get enough.  This station plays a great mix of 90’s pop, hip hop, and R&B, and songs are rarely repeated so it’s not like you’re listening to the same handful of songs over and over like you do on Pandora sometimes.  90’s forever, y’all!

F I V E – UGA Mug

My littlest brother gave me a set of Georgia mugs for Christmas, and I’ve been using this one since I got it.  I used it on the morning of our National Championship win, and I may just use it for the next 365 days.  Haha!  It’s definitely been a favorite this week to glance down at that mug on my desk and remember that we’re finally the champions!!!!

(And I know I’ve talked about this a ton on the blog this week, and I promise not to dwell on it forever.  Haha.)

Back to School Favorites

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Our kids started school on Monday, so I thought I’d share all of our back-to-school favorites!

1 – Thermos Funtainer

We use these Thermos containers to send hot foods in the kids’ lunchboxes.  They both love macaroni and cheese and buttered noodles, and Jacob also likes several of my pasta dishes for leftovers.  These containers keep food cold for seven hours or hot for five hours and the exteriors stays cool.  In the morning, before I pack their lunches, I pour hot water in them to warm them up, and then I just pour the water out, add the hot food, and the food is still warm for the kids at lunchtime.  Thermos also has this version that comes with a folding spoon!

2 – Hand Sanitizer Backpack Holder

These hand sanitizer holders clip to backpacks for easy access, and the best part is that they come with empty bottles that you can fill and refill with the hand sanitizer of your preference.

3 – Lunchbox Notes

These lunchbox notes are precious, and they’re the perfect way to let your kids know you’re thinking about them when you can’t be with them during the day.  This version has 101 unique love notes, and there is also a Facts and Funnies version, where each sheet contains one random fun fact and a joke or riddle!  Our kiddos are loving those!  Jacob especially loves the random facts.

4 – Avery Kids No Iron Fabric Labels

I’ve raved about these labels time and time again, and they are a necessity for when the kids go back to school.  These labels can be added to the insides of shirts, shorts, pants, jackets, face masks, backpacks – you name it!  And the best part is that no ironing is needed.  Just write your child’s name or initials on the label with a permanent marker, peel, and stick.  The labels are washer and dryer safe and the adhesive stays put, so the labels don’t fall off.

5 – Pottery Barn Lunchboxes

Pottery Barn backpacks and lunchboxes are the only ones we ever use because they last forever!  Jacob is starting his seventh year of school, and he’s only on his second Pottery Barn backpack and lunchbox.  And the only reason we got him a new set a few years ago was because he needed a larger backpack.  These things hold up beautifully, and we love that they can be personalized so there’s no worry of mixing up bags with another student.  These lunchboxes perfectly hold any plastic food containers like Yumboxes and other Bento Boxes.  They also have an inside pocket to hold a cold pack, and they have an outside pocket as well as a side pocket to hold your child’s thermos.

6 – Pottery Barn Backpacks

Again – Pottery Barn everything!  Their backpacks are so durable!  Olivia is starting year four of school and she’s still using the same backpack and lunchbox set that she’s had since the very beginning.  I kid you not, both of them still look BRAND NEW after three years of use, and she is very rough on everything.  Their backpacks and lunchboxes are also machine washable, so you can just pop them in the washing machine on cold and then let them air dry.  They come in three different sizes and they also come in all kinds of fun colors and patterns, including licensed character sets.  Frozen anyone?  Star Wars?

7 – Yeti Thermos

These Yeti thermoses are wonderful!!  They hold 12 oz. and keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for hours.  They’re made of stainless steel, so they withstand all dents and drops, but they’re also BPA free for your child’s safety.  They don’t sweat in the humidity and they’re ultra-leak-proof, so they’re perfect for tiny hands.  The best part, though?  Every part is dishwasher safe!  No handwashing required!!

8 – Bento Lunchbox Containers

These containers fit perfectly inside the Pottery Barn lunchboxes and they hold just the right amount of food – a sandwich, fruit/veggies, chips/crackers, and a little treat.  They’re dishwasher safe and they’re so durable.

9 – Face Mask Lanyard

These lanyards are a great tool to help your little ones keep track of their face masks.  Our kids are allowed to take their masks off while eating their snacks, while eating lunch, and when they’re outside, and these lanyards guarantee that their masks stay with them at all times.  Now I don’t have to worry about either kid losing theirs, dropping theirs on the floor, or mixing them up with masks that belong to other kids.  Yuck.  And these lanyards have the safety “breakaway” feature, so they’re not a choking hazard.  Olivia wore one all last year and it worked out so well!

10 – Face Masks

We’ve tried several different brands of masks over the last 17 months, and both of our kids love Old Navy’s masks the most by far. We bought them each a five-pack last year before the start of school and they wore them every single day.  All five of Jacob’s are still in excellent condition after an entire year of use, and four of Olivia’s five are, too.  These have held up so well that we didn’t even purchase new ones for this new school year.  The kids both say that they’re the most comfortable ones they’ve ever had, they don’t slide down under their noses, they’re machine-washable, and they fit very close to their faces so we don’t have to worry about too many germs getting in from an overly loose fit.  Highly, highly recommend!

11 – Yumbox

In addition to the plastic Bento boxes above, each of our kids also has one Yumbox for the days where they want to eat a little bit of everything.  These work well for serving school lunches “charcuterie style.”  Each container has six different sections so you can send lots of different things and everything stays separate.  You can even include yogurt or other thick sauces and the box won’t leak.  These are dishwasher safe (top rack only) which is always a win in my book!  They are pricey, but they last for years!

And those are our favorite back-to-school items!  Do you have any favorite items that I missed?

Happy Wednesday!

Everything You and Your Tiny Dancer Need for Ballet, Tap, and Jazz

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Olivia just completed year three of dance back in May, and I feel like I finally have a pretty good grip on dance and recital life.  If you’ve ever had a kiddo in dance, then you know exactly just how much stuff they need to get through the dance year and the crazy long recitals at the end of the season.

We are heading to Olivia’s dance studio today to get her registered for the new season, and classes start August 9, so I thought it’d be the perfect time to share all of our favorite items for ballet, tap, and jazz + a few bonus items that we love to have on hand for recitals and competition.

1 – Garment Bag

Olivia only uses this garment bag one time per year – recital weekend – but it’s worth every single penny to be able to keep all of her stuff organized.  During recitals, the kids have lots of different outfits and accessories, and they often have to get changed SUPER fast in between acts.  Each class only has 1-2 room parents to help 7-8 kids get changed in between acts, so the kiddos need to be self-sufficient and be able to locate their own stuff quickly.  This garment bag is perfection because it holds costumes on hangers up top, and then it has five pockets to hold shoes (ballet, tap, jazz), extra tights, hair pieces, makeup, and other props and accessories.  It’s small enough so that Olivia can carry it herself, it has a nametag slot so she can locate her bag quickly, and the entire bag is clear so she can see everything at-a-glance.  At just $13.95 it might just be my favorite dance item we’ve ever purchased.

2 – Ballet Shoes

Every ballerina needs a good pair of ballet shoes!  We’ve bought the Freestyle by Danskin ballet shoes from Target for the last three years and they’ve been great year after year.  Dance runs from the beginning of August until the end of May each year, and every pair we’ve purchased has lasted through the whole entire year.  We highly recommend them!  Once Olivia is a little older and even more serious about dance, we’ll probably start buying nicer ones, but for now, the ones from Target are perfect.  And so is the price.

3 – Dance Bag

Dance classes at our dance studio are combined, so Olivia takes ballet, tap, and jazz altogether in one long class.  That means she has to bring ballet shoes, tap shoes, and jazz shoes for each class.  We bought this backpack three years ago and it has been the perfect size to hold everything she needs.  She can toss her ballet shoes, tap shoes, and jazz shoes in and there is still room to spare for her leg warmers, her skirt, and a little cosmetic bag that holds a brush and elastics.  It also has two outside pockets (one on each side) to hold her thermos.  Olivia has been using this one for three years now and it still looks brand new!

4 – Leotard

Olivia’s dance studio requires girls to wear a leotard, tights, appropriate dance shoes for whichever particular class they’re taking, and then they have to have their hair up and out of their faces.  Girls 6+ have to wear royal blue leotards, and the littles wear ballet pink leotards, and we love these.  This one comes in lots of different colors including ballet pink and the royal blue shade that Olivia has to wear.

5 – Wide Hair Pins

Olivia is required to wear her hair in a bun for all recitals and performances  Buns have never been my forte, but I’ve learned some tricks of the trade from the other moms along the way, and one of the best tools to ever be recommended to us were these WIDE hair pins.  They’re not standard bobby pins… those are too thin to use in a bun, but these wide hair pins are perfect for sticking into the side of the bun as you weave the hair around the outside.  They work like a charm every single time and we are never without them during dance recitals.  You can never have too many on hand, so we always buy extras.

6 – Jazz Shoes

We purchased these jazz shoes for Olivia last year for her first year of jazz, and they held up beautifully the entire year.  Olivia said that they’re comfortable, too!  We’ll be buying another pair for the upcoming year.

7 – Smoothing Brush

This smoothing brush is a miracle-worker for creating a sleek ballet bun… regular brushes and combs just don’t work as well as these do!

8 – Thermos

Olivia carries a water bottle to class each week and she keeps one on hand during recital weekend.  We just recently started using these Yeti water bottles for kids and they are PERFECT.  They keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for at least 12 hours, they’re leak-proof, and they’re dishwasher safe.  The best part is that they don’t have a bunch of little pieces like most kids’ water bottles have.  This one comes in six different colors and it’s under $25 which is great considering it’s a Yeti!

9 – Ballet Skirt

Olivia’s dance studio doesn’t require the girls to wear a skirt, but she wanted one for the first couple of years.  She doesn't wear one for class anymore, but she keeps this one in her bag in case we need to run errands after class.  It slips on quickly and acts as the perfect coverup.

10 – “Invisible” Plastic Earrings

Dancers aren’t allowed to wear any jewelry whatsoever during recitals and performances, so we bought some of these clear plastic earrings to slide in Olivia’s ears on those days.  She had her ears pierced nearly two years ago, but her holes are still very quick to close, so it makes me feel better to have something in them during those all-day recitals.  These are just $5.80 for 50 pairs.  This was another tip that one of the other dance moms taught me.

11 – Ouchless Hair Elastics

Olivia isn’t required to wear her hair in a bun for class, so instead, we typically pull it up in a ponytail.  Our very favorite elastics are these ouchless elastics by Goody.  They don’t have the metal pieces in them so they’re comfortable, and they have just the right amount of stretch.  These are always in her bag for class, and they are the only ones I use, too.

12 – Tap Shoes

We’ve been using these Freestyle by Danskin tap shoes from Target for the last three years, and just like the ballet shoes, they hold up beautifully throughout the entire year.  They’re made very well, they’re comfortable, and best of all, they have a hook and loop Velcro closure, so Olivia doesn’t have to deal with laces coming untied during class.

13 – Wrap Top

During fall and winter when it’s colder, this wrap top is perfect for Olivia to wear over her leotard to keep her warm.  Because it’s a wrap, she can take it on and off easily without messing up her hair… totally necessary during recital weekend when she has her fancy bun!

14 – Warmup Boots

These warmup boots slide on over ballet shoes to protect the shoes and keep feet warm.  We haven’t bought a pair of these yet so I can’t speak to the quality, but they have 4.8 out of 5 stars with 870 ratings.  I’ve had these in my wish list for Olivia and will likely buy a pair for this coming year… it’ll be so much easier for her to just slide these on over her ballet shoes rather than to change in and out of tennis shoes.  Most of the time she just walks through the parking lot in her ballet shoes, but I’m pretty sure that’s frowned upon.  Haha.  When we start buying nicer ballet shoes, we certainly won’t be doing that anymore as they could get damaged.

15 – Giant Bag for Mom for Recital Weekends

This Barrington bag isn’t something that your tiny dancer needs, but it’s something you’ll definitely need for recital weekends.  I don’t know about y’all, but recital weekends are hard-core here, and I’m usually at the venue with Olivia for 20+ hours any given recital weekend for rehearsals, dress-rehearsals, and performances.  That means I have to carry a LOT of stuff with me, so I need something big to put it all in.  Brian bought this Barrington bag for me for Mother’s Day this year and, y’all, it is the best thing ever.  It’s HUGE, it opens super wide, it has a few pockets inside, and the entire things zips closed.  I’m able to fit all of my normal purse stuff in there like my wallet, phone, keys, etc. plus I still have ample room for an iPad, a book, my 32 oz. Yeti thermos, snacks, and a sweater since it’s always freezing in the venue.  It has become my main purse and I could not love it more.  The best part is that you can customize your bag… they have tons and tons of colors and patterns to choose from, you can choose your own leather color, you can customize your monogram in lots of different ways, and by the time you’re done, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind bag.  They’re pricey, but everyone I know who has one says they hold up forever, so they’re worth the money.  And actually, just for today until midnight, everything is15% off with the code HOHOHO as they're running their Christmas in July sale!

16 – Tights

I always buy this two-pack of tights at the beginning of the year, and it usually gets us through the entire year.  They are thick and sturdy so they hold up well.  Olivia is really rough on everything (she is known to break/destroy things constantly) so the fact that she’s able to rotate the same two pairs for ten months really says something about the durability of these tights.  We highly recommend!

17 – Bun Making Set

And finally, this bun making set is going to be your very best friend if you don’t know how to do hair!  I am terrible at doing any kind of hairdo, so the first time I had to make a ballet bun for Olivia’s recital I was so nervous.  I bought this bun-making kit on Amazon and watched a two-minute YouTube video, and y’all, I’ll be darned if it didn’t end up being the easiest thing ever!!  This kit comes with everything you need – bun donuts (four different sizes so you can decide how large you want yours to be), thick elastics, wide hair pins (similar to the ones I already mentioned earlier in this post), and hairnets to go over your bun.  With this kit, the smoothing brush, and a can of hairspray, you can easily create the perfect ballet bun in ten minutes or less!  The bun donuts are everything, y’all.  Everything.  Makes things so much simpler!

In addition to all of these things, your tiny dancer may also want to have a good pair of leg warmers during the colder months, and it’s also good to keep some of these no-iron labels and a Sharpie permanent marker on hand.  During recital weekends, all of the kids are in dressing rooms and there’s an explosion of stuff everywhere, so we are required to label every single thing in case items get mixed up among the girls.

These Avery no-iron labels are AMAZING and I use them for everything.  (You can read how we used them to label the kids’ masks for school last year here.)  As I already mentioned, you don’t have to iron these on… you just stick them straight on to shirts, pants, jackets, shoes, etc. and they’re washing machine and dryer safe.  You can wash them over and over and they never fall off.  They are awesome.

And that’s it, y’all… everything you need for your tiny dancer to have a successful year of ballet, tap, and jazz!
