Disney World Vacation Day 6 - Character Breakfast and Goodbye

Thursday was the final day of our trip and our travel agent had lined up a character breakfast so we could have one last hurrah before hitting the road!  The breakfast was at Ohana, which is a restaurant in the Polynesian Resort.

We decided to go ahead and pack up our car and take it to the breakfast instead of using Disney transit because that way we could just head straight home afterward.

We arrived promptly at our check-in time of 9 AM, and we took pictures with Pluto while we waited for our table.

Once we were seated, the waitress brought out freshly made pineapple-coconut breakfast bread for us to enjoy while we waited for our food, and shortly after that, Lilo made her way to our table for our first character meeting of the morning.

Our kids have actually never even seen Lilo and Stitch (shame on us for not preparing them properly for the trip – haha) but they were still excited to meet them!  We even got some genuine smiles out of Olivia!

Shortly after Lilo left the table, the waitress brought out the main course – a large family-size bowl filled with scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, ham, Mickey waffles, and biscuits with fresh fruit on the side.  I had told Jacob prior to leaving for the trip that he would probably get a chance to eat Mickey waffles, so he was excited to finally see some on his plate!

We all stuffed our faces until Mickey and Stitch finally made it to our table.  The kids had already seen Mickey, but this was Hawaiian shirt Mickey, so naturally we had to take more pictures.  Stitch was a hoot and he kept messing with the kids’ ears and tickling them so they thought that was funny.

Once the breakfast was over, we said our goodbyes and headed over to the hotel gift shop to spend the last of our snack credits, all except for one, because I was saving that for one last treat...

We still had seven remaining and I wasn’t about to let them go to waste so we grabbed some Cheez-Its, more gummies, Spree per Brian’s request, and a few other things.

While I was there, I saw THE CUTEST Disney frame.  It didn’t have the castle on it, but it was so much better than the other two I had seen everywhere else, so I went ahead and bought it.  I’m so happy that I did because I like it way better than the Mickey frame I had purchased previously.

Once we left the gift shop, we headed downstairs in search of my last treat… a Dole Whip.  Yep, we had been at Disney for over five days at that point and I had yet to try one of the famous Dole Whips, even though it was near the top of my list of things to do.  There are only a couple of places in the entire Disney area that sell them, and it just so happens that one of the places was right there at The Polynesian.  How convenient!!  The little outdoor shop that sold them didn’t open until 10 AM, and we just so happened to get there right at 10.  It was fate, I tell you!

Never mind that I had just eaten a gigantic breakfast and never mind that it was only 10 o’clock in the morning… when you’re at Disney World, you get a Dole Whip when the chance presents itself!  And friends, it was unique and delicious and worth the wait!

We snapped some pictures in the lobby of the Polynesian on the way out because it was just so darn pretty, and then it was time to hit the road for the long drive home.  The drive was uneventful and smooth.  We stopped once at Zaxby’s for lunch and we were home with enough time to get unpacked and get some laundry started.

We had a great time reminiscing all evening, checking out our candy haul, looking at all of the autographs in the kids’ books, and getting our new frame set up on our travel gallery wall (it's the one in the very bottom right of that photo).

This trip was surely one that we will never forget and it is my favorite so far that our family of four has taken together.  Disney was truly magical and I am just so grateful for the opportunity to go.  We hope to do it all over again in a couple of years!

Stay tuned, because next week I’ll be sharing lots of important tips and tricks and some things that we learned that might be beneficial to you if you ever decide to plan your own trip!

  2. We love eating at O'hana (for any meal really the food is AMAZING!). We went to the Lilo and Stitch breakfast a few years ago and had a wonderful time. They're always so much fun and a great way to meet lots of characters without all the lines. I can not get over how many snack credits you all had left at the end of the trip... we rarely have any!!
