What I Ordered from Amazon in February 2019

Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments on yesterday’s post.  Sunday was probably the single scariest day I’ve ever been through with weather.  We are some of the fortunate ones who have already had power restored so I’m able to type this from the comfort of our home, and I am surely not taking that for granted.  Our cell phone tower was plowed down with the tornado so our cell service is spotty, so if you try to reach us that way and can’t please don’t worry.  We are safe.

If you haven't heard, 36 tornadoes ripped through the southeast Sunday, one of which was HUGE.  The huge one hit just at the end of the street that our neighborhood is on and there is extensive damage for at least 64 miles from that one tornado.  They are saying that it was an EF-4 that was one mile wide, and it was on the ground for around two hours.  It was absolutely terrifying.

The roads are still blocked so we had to take an alternate route to school, but I was able to drive through the wreckage on the way home and much of the area is unrecognizable.  Hundreds and hundreds of huge trees were uprooted and tossed on homes and across roads, buildings were ripped open, and I literally couldn’t even see the road for all of the debris.  The second I started driving through I regretted it, but the police officers and first responders assured me it was safe enough so I powered through.

The death toll is already up to 23 as I type this and there are so many families who have been displaced.  Of the 23 deceased, NINE of them are relatives of one of my old coworkers.  To say that I’m shaken up is an understatement and we were some of the lucky ones.  I can’t imagine how the others must feel.  Please continue to pray for our city and surrounding areas.  My family was so SO lucky.  So lucky.  God was definitely with us on Sunday.

I already had this Amazon post planned and ready to go for today so I’m going to proceed with it and I should have our weekend recap up, along with more details about how everything unfolded with the weather tomorrow.  I’m still processing everything and just didn’t think I could get all of the details up by this morning.

* * *

Our Amazon purchases in February were pretty light compared to other months.  We have been spending a lot of money since December, so we’re trying to slow it down a bit.  Here is what I purchased in February from Amazon… this excludes the items that B purchased from his account.

Paper Straws

Paper straws are one of my favorite things to decorate with (and they are also better to use for the environment), so I always keep them on hand.  I have plenty of Fall and Christmas and other holiday straws, but I wanted to find some that could be a part of our everyday décor.  I found these black and white polka dot straws and I’m in love!  A white background with black polka dots has always been one of my favorite patterns so I knew they would be the perfect ones to incorporate with our every day decorations.

Museum Putty

I already sang the praises of this museum putty in a previous post, but I thought I’d do it again here.  This stuff is perfect to use on the bottoms of drawer organizers to keep them from sliding around in your drawers, and it can also be used for a plethora of other things.  It’s so cheap, too!  Totally worth every cent!

Diamond Dazzle Stick

I have seen lots of great things about this diamond cleaner so I decided to try it out for myself.  I typically take my wedding rings to be cleaned at the jeweler once a year, but I just haven’t taken the time to do it the last couple of years, so I tried the stick.  It has a special cleaner in it and has stiff brushes at the tip so you can get in between the prongs and underneath your diamond setting.  My ring was SUPER blinging after I used it!  Highly recommend it.

Comfort Pup Warmer

Our little dog, Maui, is only four pounds so she is constantly cold, especially in the winter.  She lives in a little sweater during the colder months, but even with the sweater she still shivers when we put her to bed at night.  I bought this warmer to put in her bed with her each night and it provides a little bit of extra heat for her.  It has a Velcro opening with a little bag in it, and you just fill the bag with rice, heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and then put it back in the main bag and seal the Velcro.  She actually used one of these for her first few years of life, but then she chewed it up, and we never got another one until now.  She seems to like it at night, but if we don’t remember to put it up in the morning she starts to chew on it again... she’s probably trying to get to the rice inside.  Lol.

Command Towel Bar

I have been obsessed with Command products since they came out years ago.  I hang lots of stuff on our walls and other surfaces with command hooks and strips because they don’t damage any surfaces.  We use a dish rag to wipe off countertops and tables in our kitchen every day and we have never found a good place to store it.  We’ve always just draped it over the faucet which is annoying and probably unsanitary.  I bought this Command Towel Bar to hang on the inside of our cabinet beneath our sink and it is perfect to hang the dish rag out to dry each evening when I’m done cleaning the kitchen.  The towel bar won’t damage our freshly painted cabinets and it is also water resistant.  It can actually even be hung inside the shower as well, so if you’re looking for something to hang washcloths on, check these out!

Blue Light Blocking Glasses

I get bad eye strain and headaches from looking at a computer screen during the day, so I decided to try some blue light blocking glasses.  I didn’t want to buy expensive ones in case they didn’t really work, so I bought these.  I haven’t been using them long, but I do feel like I have noticed a difference in my eyes.  They don’t seem to get tired as quickly any more.  And they're cute, too!

And that’s everything that I purchased in the month of February!

And if you’re new around here and you missed this post that I did about Amazon you should check it out.  It highlights many of my favorite purchases EVER on Amazon in my 17 years of shopping… it’s basically an inside look at our Amazon account.  If you’re nosy like I am then you’ll enjoy it.  :o)

Happy shopping, y’all!

  10. I would be just as shaken up as you! When Hurricane Sandy hit years ago there weren't many fatalities luckily but the damage was terrible.

That diamond cleaner stick is great! My ring is so sparkly when I use it. :)
