Five on Friday - Necklace, Disney Dresses, and a Great Way to Decompress

Hello and happy Valentine’s Day!  We don’t have any major plans for the holiday, but I do love loving on B and the babies so I do have a couple of things up my sleeve for this evening.  In the meantime, I’m sharing some things that are making me happy this week!

O N E – Nana’s Necklace

After my Nana left us this past Christmas Eve, I pulled out this old necklace of hers to wear to her funeral and I’ve been wearing it ever since.  She passed the necklace down to me years ago when I was just a teenager and I’ve worn it off and on since then, but now that she’s gone I’m even more thankful to have this little piece of her that I can wear around my neck.  It’s so wonderfully old-fashioned and it’s something I’ll treasure forever.

T W O – Harper + Henry IS A SCAM

**** UPDATE - DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS WEBSITE.  WE FOUND OUT THAT IT IS A SCAM... A VERY PROFESSIONALLY DONE SCAM.  FORTUNATELY OUR CREDIT CARD IS DISPUTING THE CHARGE AND OUR MONEY WAS ALREADY RECOVERED.  IF YOU HAVE FURTHER QUESTIONS JUST SEARCH "HARPER AND HENRY BBB" ON GOOGLE AND YOU CAN SEE THAT THEY ARE TAKING PEOPLE'S MONEY AND THEN NEVER SHIPPING THE ITEMS.  AND THEY WON'T REFUND ANYONE'S MONEY EITHER.****

We’re heading back to Disney World for spring break this year (assuming the Caronavirus hasn’t completely taken over the world by then) so I’ve been on the hunt for some things for us to wear on our trip!  Two years ago when we went, I had a couple of shirts made for each of us and I think they’ll all fit again since I originally sized up for the kids.

That said, Olivia wears a dress every. single. day. of her life.  She’s a super girly girl and she loves her dresses, so I wanted her to be able to wear a couple of dresses this time instead of shorts and t-shirts every day.  I was considering letting her wear one of her princess dresses to Magic Kingdom, but inevitably they’ll start to itch or make her uncomfortable at some point during the day, so I just don’t think that’s the wisest route to go.

B came across Harper + Henry, a website that has comfy regular cotton dresses for girls that mimic the Disney princess dresses!!  I caught them when they were having a 50% off sale + an additional 20% off + free shipping, so I ended up getting a fantastic deal on three of the Disney princess dresses for Olivia for her birthday that she can also wear on our trip!  I went with Belle (because that dress is perfection and she was one of Olivia’s original favorites), Elsa (because she is Olivia’s current favorite), and Aurora (because it’s super pincess-y and it’s pink which is Olivia’s favorite color).  The dresses haven’t arrived yet, but I can’t wait to see them when they do.  They have rave reviews so I’m hoping they’re nice.  I’ll have to report back when we have them!

T H R E E – Shiatsu Massager

My friend Adrienne casually mentioned this Shiatsu massager to me one day in conversation and I added it to my Amazon wish list immediately.  My anxiety causes a plethora of issues for me, one of which is major neck, jaw, shoulder, and upper back pain/stiffness/tightness… apparently that’s where I carry my stress.  My therapist has told me repeatedly that I should be getting massages as often as possible to allow my body to release the physical tension, but I have yet to get one since massages cost a lot of money.

Well, last week, Amazon sent me a notification that the Shiatsu massager in my wish list was on a lightning deal, and between the fact that it was already on sale + the lightning deal + an extra coupon they had for the clipping, I was able to snag it with my Christmas gift card for just $17!!!!  It’s originally priced at $50 so that’s a major steal!

My expectations were verrrry high for this thing based on all of the rave reviews it has so I was fairly certain it wouldn’t live up to them.  Boy was I wrong!  This thing is pure heaven.  I like my massages to hurt so I was sure this thing wouldn’t be able to provide the amount of pressure that I like, but I’m so happy to report that it does!

I think the difference between this one and other bad ones that I’ve tried is that this one is on this little belt so you can place it pretty much anywhere on your body (hips, neck, arms, legs, back).  You can move it around easily to make sure that the balls are applying pressure to the right spots and the handles allow you to pull on it to apply as much pressure as you need.

It rotates clockwise and counterclockwise and it also has a heat option.  I’ve used it on my neck, shoulders, upper back, middle back, lower back, and hip and it’s been amazing.  Two nights after we danced the night away my hip was killing me, and this thing fixed me right up.  I can literally feel the tension in my body melting away when I use it.

So if you have any body parts that would benefit from a good massage, this thing is the next best thing if you don’t want to pay for the real thing.

F O U R – Kia Telluride Voted #1 SUV on Car and Driver

I’m hoping to get a new SUV this year and while we haven’t started test-driving just yet, we have started researching.  I’ve narrowed my search to 4-5 different ones based on looks, safety features, and ratings and I’m hoping to start test-driving soon.  With that said, every single time I pass a Kia Telluride on the road, my heart skips a beat.  I’m pretty sure it’s THE ONE.  I just have to hope that it drives as good as it looks.

One of my lovely readers brought to my attention earlier this week that Car and Driver just voted it #1 in the midsize SUV with a third row class, and after reading that article, I also saw that they also voted it #1 in the overall midsize Crossover and SUV category (article here) and they also gave it a glowing review in this article here.  Out of all 22 midsize crossovers and SUVs, the Telluride came in #1!  One step closer to making one of these MINE!

F I V E – Step-and-Repeat Pictures from the Ball

The professional step-and-repeat pictures from our ball are back and they are so cute!  I wanted to share them here since they weren’t available in time for my original recap.  Such a fun evening!

Friday Funnies

90's kids y'all feel me?

I laughed way too hard at this.  Also, I loved that song so much.

Interesting...

Pretty much.

JACOB!!!!  Last Saturday he woke up at 6:10.  Sigh.  Luckily he stays in his room until everyone else gets up.

Happy Friday, y’all!

  6. Happy Valentine's Day! What a sweet necklace with such sentimental meaning. Those Disney dresses are so cute! How fun will it be to go back for spring break. We were at the Philly auto show last weekend and checked out the Kia. It is a really nice SUV! We even talked about considering it when we have a need to get rid of ours, we would have to look into the towing packing for it a bit more since we need something big enough to tow our Airstream. I hope you have a great weekend!!! Sierra Beautifully Candid

  7. The JLo meme is just so funny and true. Since I am about the same age as she is, I am just in awe of her dancing and energy! Yea for the Kia!! I love how it looks. They must not be as popular here, because I have NEVER seen one driving around. Or maybe I did, and mistakenly thought it was a Range rover...ha, ha! Have a good weekend!
