Five on Friday - Halloween Dress, Simplified Planner, and New Rae Dunn Mugs

This week flew by since it was a short one with the holiday, and I’m excited to see another weekend on the horizon.  Today I’m sharing a few favorite things from the week!

O N E – Cutest Halloween Dress

I bought an adorable Halloween dress for Olivia last year and she’s been wearing it ever since… even during summertime.  Haha.  She’s grown like a weed this past year and her dress is now more of a tunic, but she refuses to wear it with any kind of leggings or pants, so I figured I’d try to find a new one for her this year.

Target always puts out the cutest Halloween stuff for girls, so that was the first place I looked, and sure enough, they had this adorable dress by Cat and Jack.  It’s only $12.99 so I scooped it right up!  Cats and bats and pumpkins, oh my!  She was thrilled.

T W O – New Simplified Planner Goodies!

I posted about the new Simplified planners for 2021 last week in this post, and my planner and accessories arrived earlier this week!  I went with the Happy Floral cover this year and it’s my favorite cover so far.  Eek!  It’s so beautiful!  The watercolor brush strokes are even more beautiful in person.

The stickers inside the planner were also updated this year to include the cutest rainbows and flags, and gold foil hearts, stars, and arrows.  I feel like I’ll use these more than I did the stickers that were in the planners in previous years.

This year, I also grabbed a planner pouch and a pencil pouch which are new to the Simplified line.  The planner pouch is big enough to hold the planner and the pencil pouch full of stuff, with room to spare.  They’re both leatherette so they’re sturdy and easy to clean and I love them so much!  They’d be perfect to use as a makeup bag or travel bag, too.

If you’re interested in ordering a 2021 planner, it looks like the daily and weekly editions are still fully stocked in all covers!  Usually by now, many of them are sold out, but Emily said that they ramped up their inventory this year so there would be more to go around.

I cannot wait to sit down with this thing and start planning 2021!!  It was definitely a favorite from the week.

T H R E E – Rae Dunn Insulated Travel Mugs

I came across these Rae Dunn travel mugs at Marshall’s a couple of weeks ago, and I am SO excited about them because they’re insulated and they have lids, so they keep my coffee hot and I can also take it on the go.  I tend to drink coffee very slowly, so I pretty much always have to reheat it once or twice to get through one cup.

I used this Pumpkin Spice mug for the first time earlier this week, and it kept my coffee hot until the last sip… almost two hours later!  Now I’m glad I grabbed two of them.  In addition to the Pumpkin Spice mug, I also grabbed the Boo! mug for Halloween.  Cute mugs are definitely a weakness of mine.

F O U R – Devotional

Throughout this whole pandemic, I’ve struggled to stay positive, and August was particularly difficult.  I opened my daily devotional last weekend and saw this passage, and my goodness, it’s so true.  Some days it’s so hard to be joyful, but joy is always there if we really want it… we just have to remember to choose to see it.  Just a little reminder in case you’re struggling, too.  <3

F I V E – ESPN College GameDay

B and I watch ESPN College GameDay religiously during football season, and this past week was the first episode of the new season.  Towards the end of the episode, Kirk Herbstreit addressed the social injustice going on in our nation right now, and he became very emotional as he spoke.  He specifically pointed out how white people need to do better to stand up for the black community, which is something that I agree with wholeheartedly.

His words were genuine and heartfelt, and it restored some of my faith in humanity after seeing so much pushback from the white community lately.  If only everyone could be this compassionate for their fellow man.  You can see the short clip here if you missed it.

On the Blog This Week

Finally, today is September 11, and it's been 19 years since that tragic day back in 2001.  My heart is with those who were affected, and I will never forget.

  5. I LOVE that you keep posting about social injustices that are still occurring. I know not everyone agrees with this and I'm sure it is even harder as a blogger to post things like this. But please know it does not go unnoticed and is so appreciated by those trying to make a difference in our world.

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet comment. It really does mean a lot. I do get backlash on occasion from posting these kinds of things, so it is nice to see the positive messages from people like yourself. :o)

I truly believe that these social injustices are human rights issues and I just don't see how anything will resolve until the white community steps up and does something about it. I know I'm just small peanuts compared to some bloggers and influencers, but I still want to use my platform to speak out and reach as many people as I can. If I can reach even a handful of people, it's worth it.

Thank you again for your kind words. <3
