Five on Friday - Affordable Swimsuit, New Lunch Containers, and the Easiest Way to Cut Pineapple

Happy Friday, y’all!  It’s time for some favorites… it is Friday, after all!

O N E – New Swimsuit

I did some shopping for swimsuits at Target last week, and I found the cutest full-coverage bikini!  It’s a blush pink, and it’s metallic so it has a shimmer to it, and it’s so comfortable.  The top also feels really supportive, so it’ll be a good suit to wear even when I’m chasing the kids around on the beach.  It also comes in mermaid blue and Elsa blue if you don’t love the pink one.  It’s also extremely affordable, which is my favorite part.

T W O – Sistema Go Lunch Containers

Our kids have officially reached the ages where they have outgrown our beloved Yumboxes, and they need something that holds more food.  We have been using these boxes from Amazon for years as they’re large enough to hold a full sandwich, but when I use these, I still have to supplement with Ziploc bags because there aren’t enough compartments for all of the things they take, and sometimes their fruit ends up getting their sandwiches or chips wet which they obviously hate.

I recently came across these Sistema Go lunch containers at Walmart and they are AMAZING because they have two layers which means that they have more compartments, so every bit of space is utilized.  Each container has a flip top lid that fastens on the front.  The top layer has a compartment large enough to hold a sandwich, a smaller compartment for fruit, veggies, or a treat, and a cup with a screw-on cap that makes it safe to store yogurt or sauce in there.

The sandwich compartment pulls out to reveal another compartment large enough to hold chips or another sandwich, and the small top compartment pulls out to reveal another small compartment for fruit, veggies, or a small treat.

That’s a total of five compartments which is exactly what we’ve been needing for the kids – a sandwich compartment, a chips/crackers compartment, a fruit/veggie compartment, a yogurt compartment, and a treat compartment.  No more plastic baggies to contain leaking fruit!

They’re BPA free and dishwasher safe, and they’re big, so they’ll hold enough food for an adult, too.  They do fit in the kids’ Pottery Barn lunchboxes, too, so it’s a win all the way around!

The very best part?  They’re less than $10 each!!  Hopefully they’ll hold up!

T H R E E – Pineapple Corer

Y’all, Brian bought this pineapple corer months and months ago and we use it several times per week, and it is amazing.  I don’t think I’ve ever shared it with you before, but even if I have, I’m going to share it with you again because it is SO GOOD.

Our family eats a lot of pineapple, and I don’t know if you’ve ever priced pre-cut pineapple, but it is expensive.  We’re talking, like, $10 for a container that probably holds one pineapple.  Whole pineapples are only $2 - $3 depending on where you get them, so they are worlds cheaper to buy whole and cut yourself.  But have you ever tried cutting a pineapple by hand??  No thank you.

This thing right here makes it the easiest thing ever.  All you have to do is cut off the top, and then you twist the pineapple corer until it reaches the bottom, pull, and a perfect spiral of pineapple rings just comes right out.  You can then slice into tidbits or chunks or whatever size you prefer, and you’re done.  The whole process takes, maybe, two minutes?

Anyway, if you like pineapple as much as we do, we cannot recommend this product enough!  It has saved us so much money since we’re no longer buying the pre-cut pineapple!

F O U R – Suave Kids 3-in-1

Our kiddos have been using this 3-in-1 wash for a couple of years and I can’t remember if I’ve ever shared it with y’all or not, but the other day, I caught the scent of it in Olivia’s hair and I thought, “I totally need to share that!”

This Suave Kids 3-in-1 is shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all in one.  It comes in a large bottle with a pump so the kids can access it easily.  It’s free of parabens and dyes, and it’s tear-free, so you don’t have to worry about them having any pain if it gets in their little eyes, and it’s hypoallergenic, so it can be used on the most sensitive of skin.

And it smells incredible.

Jacob and Olivia both use it, and it makes their hair smell so fresh and clean, and we just love it.  It’s also priced very well at just $4.99 for a giant 28 oz. bottle.  The only place I’ve been able to find it is Target, but our location doesn’t always have it in stock, so I always order it online with my RedCard… it delivers in two days for free!

F I V E – Wedding on the Horizon

One of my long-time friends got engaged over Christmas, and she and her fiancé have set a date!  We received our invitation in the mail last week, and I couldn’t mark my calendar fast enough!  I loooove a wedding, and we haven’t had one to go to in years.  Most of my friends and I all got married within the span of five-ish years, so for a while there, it seemed like we were attending a wedding every month.  I’ve missed them all these years and I can’t wait to celebrate my friend and her man!

The wedding is going to be in Atlanta in August, so we’ll be booking a hotel and staying overnight, and I’m soooo excited for any excuse to have a weekend getaway with just B!  And any excuse to dress up, right?!  Haha.

  2. We have a wedding in August too. How fun. I need that pineapple corer. I hate cutting up pineapple. And that bathing suit. I saw it at my local Target and almost got it, but they didn't have any bottoms in my size.

  3. Your definition of "full coverage" and mine are WAY different. LOL

    1. Lol. I should have specified that the bottoms were full coverage on the back. Most swimsuits these days are the "cheeky" ones and I don't wear those. Haha. I need full coverage in the booty!

  4. We have that same pineapple tool and we love it! We go through 4 pineapples a week and it makes cutting them up a breeze. I just bought a bikini top from Target that I love too (but in a totally different style as I need waaay more coverage and support than that cute pink top). I hope you have a fabulous time at the wedding.
