Happy Friday, y’all!  I have a bunch of random favorites for you today, so let’s get started!

O N E – New Rug in Our Bedroom

I already shared that I used some birthday gift cards to purchase this rug for our bedroom months ago, but I couldn’t remember if I ever shared the final result once we got it under the bed!  It sat in our bedroom, rolled out in the middle of the floor for weeks before we could get enough people over here to lift our very heavy bed to get it settled, but it’s finally done, and I could not love it more, y’all.

It is so gorgeous!  The quality is excellent, it’s so soft, the colors are beautiful, the price is incredible, and it’s from a real brand – a brand that I know and trust (the lamps in our living room are the same brand) – and not some random Amazon brand.  I love it so much that I want it in the 8 x 8 version for our living room since we need to replace that rug, too.

T W O – Cocktail Ice Molds

Brian and I have been very into whiskey drinks lately – Old Fashioneds and Manhattans to be exact.  When we order an Old Fashioned from a nice restaurant, they always put one very large cube of ice in the glass, which looks so fancy (I love fancy!), and it’s practical, because the ice cubes melt slower, leaving your drink fresher longer.

For Father’s Day, I wanted to find some ice molds to put in Brian’s gift basket, and I came across these.  While they do come in cubes (as well as other shapes), I thought the round ones were even more fun because they’re so unique!

The ice molds are easy to use.  You fill the water to the “fill” line, put the cap on, sit them in the freezer, and the next day you have beautiful, very large, round pieces of ice.  Since water expands as it freezes, the water climbs to the top of the inside of the round cavern, and there’s a lip around the top to catch any overflow so it won’t spill in your freezer.

To remove the cubes, you simply run hot water over the outside of the shell, and they pop right out.  These would make an amazing gift for any cocktail lover… and they’re the perfect size to slide into a holiday stocking.  I know it’s only June, but the holiday season will be here before we know it!

T H R E E – My New Doctor

Well, naturally this is a MAJOR favorite from the week as I finally feel like I’m on the right track to healing.  This new doctor finally understands everything I’ve been going through, and he is confident he can help me get my life back, and all I can say to that, friends, is WHAT A RELIEF.  Praise God!

Brian and the kids came along with me to my third adjustment on Wednesday, and I asked Brian to discreetly snap a picture just for my memories.  I hadn’t really planned on sharing it, but I figured I might as well since I’ve been so vulnerable about the rest of the journey.

That little instrument in his hand is what he uses to adjust me.  It only takes a couple of tiny, gentle taps to my neck or behind my ear, and then I’m done!

(Also, please note that the day Brian took this picture was the only day that I saw the other doctor in the practice (there are two), so that’s not my actual doctor in the picture, but you get the point.  I’m grateful for both of them!)  In case you missed the details of this new treatment, you can see them here.

F O U R – No Kings Protest

I never thought a worldwide protest would be in my list of favorite things for the week, but here we are.

While it’s sad to me that there is a need for protesting at all, I am happy to see that people are finally starting to stand up to our current administration.  This nation of ours is in absolute shambles right now – there are countless things happening that are unconstitutional, hatred and lies are being spewed directly from the mouth of our own president, people are getting abducted on the streets and ripped away from their families by men in unmarked clothing and masked faces, the media is being silenced, congresspeople and their families are being shot and murdered in their own homes just for speaking up, and as we speak, our president, who promised there would be no world wars under his leadership is currently debating bombing Iran.  I could go on and on and ON about all of the terrible things happening, and it makes me so sad that I don’t even recognize our country right now.

During times like these when there are so many disastrous – and UNJUST – things happening in our country, I feel that it is incredibly important to speak up, and one of the ways we can speak up is to use any platform that we have available to us… like my blog.  Years from now, when my kids are grown and they are looking back in this space to relive their childhood memories, I want them to know that I did everything I could to speak up and speak out against the injustice in the world.  And I especially want them to know that their family was on the right side of history.

That said, I was so happy to see the millions and millions of people who protested all over the world last Saturday during the No Kings protest.  Most of all, I was happy that the protests were peaceful.  I would have loved to have gone to our local protest, but unfortunately, it was the day after my first adjustment, and I felt like a trainwreck for most of the day with all of my pain and unsteadiness and vertigo coming back.

Instead, I watched all of the protests from my phone.  I came across a post on Instagram with a roundup of all of the Taylor Swift themed protest signs, and naturally, those were my favorites, so I wanted to share them today.

As I always say, this blog is first and foremost a scrapbook for our family, of all our good times and bad, and unfortunately, sometimes those include things happening in the outside world and not just in our little bubble at home.  So, I share these today as a reminder of these tumultuous times, and hopefully we’ll be in a much better place soon.

F I V E – Beautiful Words

And finally, I saw this beautiful sentiment on Instagram the other day, too, and I wanted to share.

Life is too short, friends.

So, remember to watch the sun set and remember to read that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand for far too long.  Remember to kiss your babies and linger over your morning coffee (or tea if you’re like me).  Remember to laugh.  Remember to spend time with your favorite people, whoever they may be.  Remember to spend more time doing the things that make you happy and remember to soak it all in and be present (my word for the year) while you’re doing it.

Life is far too short, friends.

Friday Funnies (Laughing So We Don’t Cry!)

It is just so sad that this is actually true.

  1. It's hard to wrap my head around what we are witnessing. It's deeply troubling. My 17-year-old understands more than I ever expected she'd have to. Her and her friends remind me that the next generations isn't lost. They are watching and learning.
On a lighter note, I love the pink in your bedroom.
