Need More Time

As most of you know by now, we lost our sweet pup of fifteen years this past weekend.  Last week was a little chaotic with Brian’s birthday, Olivia’s birthday slumber party, our benefit ball, and caring for Maui in her last days, so I didn’t get much blog work done, nor did I get much done around the house… I chose to spend all of my extra time with my girl because I knew our days were limited.

I spent yesterday playing catchup on a million non-blog related things, so I didn’t have time to get my weekly post together.  Hopefully it’ll be up tomorrow, and if not, I should have it up Friday.  There’s a LOT to recap, so it’s going to take some time, and I'm giving myself grace as we navigate this time.

In the meantime, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have reached out with kind words and condolences for our girl.  We miss her dearly and these last few days without her have been tough.  I know we’ll all get through it, but it’s just going to take some time.

We’re all so very grateful for the fifteen years we had with her.  She brought all of us so much joy.

See you back here tomorrow or Friday.  <3

Happy 11th Birthday to Our Olivia Cate!

Olivia,

Today you are eleven… just two more years and you’ll officially be a teenager.  Day by day, we’re seeing your littleness slip away as you grow, and your interests change – you’re slowly starting to trade in your child toys for more mature things like scented body lotions and lip glosses, diaries, and Taylor Swift posters.  You do still adore your stuffed animal collection and various little toy trinkets, though, and I pray that you hold onto that love for just a little bit longer.  ;o)

This past year, you completed your fourth-grade year at school, and you’re cruising through fifth grade now.  You had a few hiccups in fourth grade, and there have also been a few in fifth, but overall, you are thriving at school, making good grades, still participating in the Challenge Program (Gifted Program), and being social with your friends.

Two of your closest friends moved away last year (Cami and Savannah), but your relationship with Maren has grown stronger, you are still loving your Aubrey, and you made a brand-new friend this year in Caroline.  After a bit of girl drama in fourth grade, we are grateful that the drama has been very minimal this year as you have found your people.  I know it comes with the territory when you get a bunch of young, hormonal girls together, but it’s never easy to navigate.  We’re happy we haven’t had to deal with it much this year.

In addition to your school friends, you still enjoy hanging out with Mack, Buckley, and Noah (my friends' kids) even though you’re the only girl in the group, and Jacob is still your bestest friend.  You have also kept in touch with Evelyn (your friend who you met at the beach two years ago) via mail and I love your pen pal friendship.  You were able to reunite last year at the beach, and you will be seeing each other again for the third time in June when we head back to our favorite place… 30A!

Your favorite ways to spend your time these days are by doing any and every kind of craft – drawing, painting, making bracelets, making potholders with your loom, sculpting, building furniture for your stuffies (and various other things) out of old boxes, knitting, cross-stitching (you just got your first kit), making other jewelry, making slime – you seriously do it ALL.  You are one of the most creative people I have ever met, and I love your creative spirit.

In addition to that, you also LOVE to write.  You mostly write song lyrics, and you’ve declared that you have already written four entire albums.  All you have to do now is put them to music.  And speaking of music, it’s one of your most favorite things ever.  You listen to it nonstop, and your artists of choice right now are Taylor Swift (AAF) and the Wicked soundtrack.  We have probably heard Defying Gravity 84 times this week alone.  ;o)  You still hate to read, though.  Haha.

This past year, you traded in your voice lessons for guitar lessons, and we couldn’t be more excited for you.  You never allowed me to sit in on your voice lessons (you didn’t want me to hear you sing even though I hear you sing nonstop around the house – haha), but you are loving having me sit in on your guitar lessons.  Watching you learn something this difficult has been so rewarding for me as it has for you.  Your determination has been so amazing to watch, and I pray that you continue with this as I think it has been really good for you.  You have a fantastic guitar teacher who makes learning fun, and that truly makes all the difference.

You started your SEVENTH year of dance lessons in the fall (insane!) and you are now taking SEVEN dance classes – ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, and hip hop plus you added pre-pointe this year.  Wow.  Your little body is solid as a rock from all of the strength and conditioning that you do for those classes (five hours and fifteen minutes per week!), and you dance with grace and skill.  Your recital is going to be insane this year since you’ll be in seven different routines, and I can’t wait to see you shine on stage in your dance studio’s production of The Little Mermaid!  EEEEK!!  You and I are both so excited about the theme this year!!

A few of your loves right now – Taylor Swift, PB&J (yep, you got your taste back for it this year after taking a little break last year), slime, Cheez-Its, friendship bracelets, Cheetos, makeup, cheese dip at any Mexican restaurant, drawing faces – especially eyes and lips, ice cream, mac n cheese, water, Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuits, scented markers, Mochis (those little squishy characters), gum, Culver’s chicken fingers, your Rainbow loom, Sheepie, Taylor Swift, Wicked, taking pictures with your digital camera that you got for Christmas, cheese pizza specifically from Papa John’s, watching any kind of crafty YouTube videos, dirt cake, making your own videos of yourself drawing or crafting (you love to do time-lapse videos of that), playing guitar, playing with Jacob, sleepovers, dance, and spending any kind of time with your friends.

You’re still super messy – hahahaha – and I don’t think that will change any time soon, but what can ya do?  I have (mostly) given up on keeping your room in any remote kind of order.  You can always see everywhere that you have been in the house because you leave a trail everywhere you go.

You and your bestie, Jacob, still spend pretty much all of your time together when you’re home, and even when you are doing something separately, you’re calling each other from different rooms saying, “Hey, come check this out!”  You do bicker, as brothers and sisters do, but it’s still so rare.  Y’all were truly made for each other.  Daddy and I love how close the two of you are, and I pray every single day that your friendship stays this solid throughout your entire lives.

I love that you still hug me, hold my hand, kiss me, and want to be stuck to me like glue when Jacob isn’t around.  I love that you’re respectful of me in front of your friends and that you’re not embarrassed to hug or kiss me goodbye in front of them.  I love that you talk my ear off constantly telling me everything that’s going on in the parts of your world that are separate from mine.  I love that you’re always excited to see me when I pick you up from school.  I love that you are so full of joy and that you bring the party with you everywhere you go.  My little bestie.

Happy eleventh birthday, Olivia Cate!  We cannot wait to celebrate you tonight with Culver’s cheeseburgers and chicken fingers and frozen custard ice cream… but first, DANCE!

Love,

Mommy

This is Eleven… Olivia’s Birthday Interview

Olivia is going to be eleven tomorrow!  Per usual, I interviewed her yesterday to ask her the same questions that I ask her every year right before her birthday, and I know she’ll treasure being able to look back on these one day.  This year’s interview was bittersweet as we lost our sweet Maui earlier in the morning, so it had been a tough day.  This interview brought me so much joy in the midst of sorrow, though… I love spending time with my girl, seeing how her big personality grows and changes year after year, and I love that she mentioned Maui several times.  Please keep Olivia’s little grieving heart in your prayers as her birthday is tomorrow.

Here’s what she had to say this year, and as always, my commentary is in parentheses.

1.    What is your favorite toy?  “Mmmm… all my stuffies.”

2.    What is your favorite stuffed animal?  “Sheepie.  Duh.” (Sheepie has been her #1 since birth and her answer to this question every single year.)

3.    What is your favorite game?  “Mmmm I think it would be that new Wicked game I got… it’s pretty good.  And I also like Pictureka.”

4.    What is your favorite sport?  “I do dance, but like, yeah.  Is that technically a sport?”  Me: “Of course!”  Olivia: “Then yeah, that’s it.”

5.    What is your favorite book?  “Mmmm, I don’t really have any favorite books because I don’t like to read, but it’s probably going to end up being… like, I still like Dork Diaries.  And I did read Princess Diaries, but after some time it got boring, so I’d say Dork Diaries or Diary of a Wimpy Kid or something.”

6.    What is your favorite TV show?  “Mmmm my favorite TV show… do movies count?”  Me: “No, because I’m going to ask you that next.”  Olivia: “Maybe like Pokemon Go… yeah, Pokemon Go or something… or like…” (I give her some examples of shows we’ve watched recently.)  Olivia: “OH, Unlisted.  That was really good.  Because every time it ended on a cliffhanger, and I really wanted to see what happened next.”

7.    What is your favorite movie?  “Wicked and The Eras Tour.  Period.  Done.”  (Haha, no hesitating there!)

8.    What is your favorite song?  “I don’t know, I just like Taylor Swift and Wicked songs.  That’s all.”

9.    What is your favorite band or singer?  “I don’t know… does Ariana Grande, Cynthia Arivo, and Taylor Swift count?”  Me: “Yeah, of course!”  Olivia: “Okay, then all three of them!!”

10. What is your favorite holiday?  “Christmas!!  And every year before Christmas, I always say Halloween is the best holiday and then I get to Christmas and then I say nope, nope, Christmas is the best holiday…”  (And then she jibber jabbered on so much after that I couldn’t even keep up typing as fast as she was talking so I missed half of it.)  Then, without missing a beat she said, “Oh, sorry if I’m speaking too fast, next time I can talk a little slower.”  (It’s like she read my mind.  LOL.)

11. What is your favorite season?  “Um, I would say winter because my favorite holiday is in it, but it can sometimes be miserable, but I’d say like… I don’t know… I love all of the seasons.  Maybe summer because we get to go to the pool.  Or maybe spring because it’s relaxing and rainy.  Or maybe just, like, all the seasons.  Oh sorry, am I talking too fast again?”  (The tone in her voice was hilarious when she said that last part.  She was in rare form this year for the interview.)

12. What is your favorite color?  “My favorite color is purple.  If I had to list three, I would list purple, pink, and blue.  I do love green, though, because of Elphaba.  And pink is Glinda.  Warn me if I’m talking too fast!!!!  Did you get that?!”  (Hahahaha.  At this point I think she was trolling me.)

13. What is your favorite animal?  “Okay, this time I will talk slow.  My favorite animal is probably Maui… I’m not saying what type of animal this time.  I’m saying Maui in honor of her.”  (Aaaand that’s when I started crying.)

14. What is your favorite shirt?  “Mmmm, I just got a Wicked shirt that I really like a lot.  Um, and I can’t really list anymore but, um, yeah, that’s it… that’s cool!!  I’m cool with it!”

15. What is your favorite fruit?  “Mm, my favorite fruit is… I don’t really like fruit.  I kind of like apples and pineapples, but with apples, um, Mommy says I’m way too specific because I cut off the outside, but I also cut out part of the inside and then I’m left with nothing.  That’s what she says at least.”  (LOL, I am dying.  She is definitely trolling me now because she knows y’all are all going to read this.  Because I do say exactly that.)

16. What is your favorite vegetable?  “Again, don’t really like vegetables, but I if I had to say… probably, like, broccoli or something… Nana’s carrots are good, too.  WAIT, for fruit I should have said brussels sprouts because it has a seed so it’s a fruit.”  Me: “Did you mean okra?”  Olivia: “Oh yeah, okra for fruit!”

17. What is your favorite snack?  “Hmmmm, probably, um, I like Welch’s fruit snacks, just normal Welch’s fruit snacks, and white cheddar Cheez-Its.  But sometimes I get tired of white cheddar Cheez-Its, so sometimes I would like to just have Welch’s fruit snacks, but you won’t let us have just fruit snacks for a snack.  Sorry, I’m speaking too fast again… I keep jibber jabbering as you say it.”  (LOL)

18. What is your favorite treat?  “My favorite treat is every type of candy.  Mostly bubble gum, though.  And ice cream… especially ice cream sundaes that I make at Pop and Cokie’s.  But everybody says I put too many toppings on them, but that’s the way I like it.”  Me: “I can’t get everything you’re saying again.”  Olivia: “Sorry, I’m yapping too fast.”  (I think she has said bubble gum for the last 4-5 years… I really do need to go back and check because it is always on her list.)

19. What is your favorite drink?  “Water.  Period.”  (And then she proceeded to make sure that I wrote out the word period since she said the word period because she wants y’all to know that’s literally all she drinks.  Hahahaha.)

20. What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner?  “Hmmmm, I don’t know, sometimes at night we have nothing to eat – well, we have stuff to eat, but I mean sometimes when you don’t cook – I like pocket PB&J with Cheetos and Babybel.  And after that, you can say that I said it dramatically.  Just to make this funnier.”  (Pocket PB&J = Uncrustables and LOL the girl was on fire trying to make this her most entertaining interview yet.

21. What is your favorite restaurant?  “Hmmmm, maybe I like the new <says the name of the new local Mexican restaurant that we’ve been to a couple of times recently> but I also like Culver’s and <says the name of the pub that we frequent down the street from our church>.”

22. Who is your best friend?  “Caroline, Maren… and those are the main friends that I play with.  We’re just a little group of three, so yeah!”

23. What makes you feel happy?  “Mmmm, my friends.  And Maui.  And that’s pretty much all.  And my family.  And God.  And that’s what I’m gonna say for thankful for.”

24. What makes you feel sad?  “Um, things.”  Me: “Things?”  Olivia: “Like Maui, and when me and friends aren’t getting along.”  (I think she didn’t want to mention Maui again because she didn’t want me to get upset.  Bless her.)

25. What are you afraid of?  “I’m afraid of ghosts.”  (That’s the same thing she’s said for the last three years.)  Then she went on to say, “I see ghosts.”  Me: “What?!”  Olivia: “Let me tell you, you don’t want to see one.  They creepy.  You don’t believe me, do you?”  Me: “So you have seen a ghost?”  Olivia: “Yes.”  Me: “When?”  Olivia: “At nighttime when I’m in the bed.  The way I see ghosts… you know how, like, fog looks?  It’s transparent kind of?  It’s a transparent blobby thingy of fog.  It looks like fog.  But it’s not fog.”  Me: “So you think those are ghosts?”  Olivia: “Yeah, totally.  What else could they be?  Could it be fog somehow gettin’ in my room?  Naw.”  (Okay, I’m officially dying with laughter with her dialect here and also what in the creepiness is this?!)

26. What are you thankful for?  “My family, Maui, friends, God.  And that’s all I need to be thankful for because I love them the most.  And food and stuff.  And I’m thankful that we’re not poor.”

27. What are you really good at?  “Dance and… let’s see… probably dance and guitar!”

28. What is your best memory?  “I remember one year I said throwing up and you told me it’s supposed to be a GOOD memory.  But this year I’m actually going to say something good.  Um, I’m going to say, going to Disney World and actually seeing Evelyn at the beach because I thought there was a chance that I may not see her at the beach last year.”  (Y’all, she really did say throwing up last year. LOLOLOLOL.  I cannot believe she remembered that.)

29. What do you want to be when you grow up?  “Um, maybe like… I know I’ve never really tried it before… I’m good at it, but I’ve never shown anyone before… but an actress.  I wanna be in movies like Wicked.  I want to be a celebrity, but also do YouTube or something.  But also, be a celebrity.  I don’t know how I’d become a celebrity, though.  I kind of want to be a model, too.  For commercials and clothes.”

30. If you could have one wish, what would it be?  “To get infinite wishes!!  Do I have to choose one?”  Me: “You can say whatever you want to say.”  Olivia: “Probably to see Maui or Cami again.”

Happy almost eleventh birthday to the biggest Wicked loving Swiftie I know!  We love you so very much!

Five on Friday - Heated Neck and Shoulder Wrap, a New Devotional, a Great Gift Idea, and More

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Happy Friday, y’all!  We have a crazy busy weekend ahead – Olivia’s birthday slumber party, an honors recital piano tryout for Jacob, the annual benefit ball that we attend every year, and a double birthday celebration for Brian and Olivia on Sunday.  It's going to be exhausting, but it’s going to be so much fun!

Edited at 9:23 AM Friday morning to add – I wrote this post a couple of days ago before Maui took a turn for the worse.  She has being going downhill for a couple of months, but she really started deteriorating earlier this week.  She was still eating here and there and she was drinking a ton of water, so we weren't terribly concerned.  However, yesterday, she stopped eating and drinking altogether and she's been lethargic, she barely responds to anything, she can't stand up anymore... when she tries she is wobbly and falls over, and we are now having to feed her baby food and water with a syringe.

I called our vet yesterday afternoon when we realized that she wasn't going to drink any water on her own, and they told us that we needed to schedule an end-of-life appointment so they can assess her.  Unfortunately, they don't have any availability until first thing Monday morning, so at this point, we are just trying to keep her alive until then.  I know they are going to tell us Monday that it's time to say goodbye and I know in my heart that it's the right decision.  I have made my peace with it, but I am still so heartbroken.

The last few days have been rough.  There have been lots of tears and lots of grieving over the parts of her that have already been lost, but all the while, life goes on  the kids are still going to school, we're still doing homework and studying for tests, we're going to music lessons and dance lessons, we found joy in celebrating Brian's birthday Thursday night amidst a day full of tears and sadness, and this weekend, the show must go on with all of the events we have committed to.  In between, I have stopped doing all unnecessary work, cleaning, and working out so I can spend every single second possible with our girl before we say goodbye.

Our hearts are broken, especially at the timing of all of this, but prayerfully, everything will work out just the way it's supposed to.

Today I’m sharing some favorites, as always…

O N E – Hot and Cold Neck and Shoulder Wrap

Okay, I’ve had this hot and cold neck and shoulder wrap for over a year, and I can’t remember if I’ve posted about it or not, but it is one of my very favorite things… I have been using it nearly every day since I bought it.

This neck and shoulder wrap contains wheat and flaxseed + lavender, chamomile, peppermint, and lemon grass, and it can be heated in the microwave or cooled in the freezer.  Heating it and draping it around my shoulders and neck has been a huge relief for my tension when nothing else works… it just melts away the tension.  I have also been putting it at the foot of my bed at night to warm my feet since it’s been so cold.  It is such a treat to get in bed and have a nice little warm spot for my feet since they’re always freezing.

The grains move around inside the wrap so you can customize the fit to any part of the body where you’re experiencing tension, stress, pain, or cramping.  And it stays warm for hours.  This is one of my favorite (and most useful) purchases on Amazon of all time.

T W O – Everyday Gospel by Paul David Tripp

I’ve been doing my new devotional for nearly two months, and I am loving it so far.  This devotional isn’t like traditional devotionals, and rather it’s more like a Bible in a Year kind of study.  Paul David Tripp works his way through the entire Bible in this 365-day devotional, and each day he breaks down the scripture for the day and explains how it relates to us in present day.  This is a great option if you’re looking for a daily devotional or if you’re looking to dig deeper and do a Bible in a year study.  It's currently 43% off which is the cheapest I've seen it since it was released!

T H R E E – Wire Flower Craft

We bought this craft kit for Olivia for Christmas – she is the queen of crafts! – and she loves it.  The kit comes with various colors of wire, a plastic apparatus that you use to make the flowers, detailed instructions on how to place the wire to make different kinds of flowers, and a wooden block to showcase your creations.  This is a really unique kit that would be perfect for gift-giving, and it makes a beautiful display when you’re done.  Olivia had so much wire leftover afterwards that she made flowers for a bunch of family and friends, and she even got creative and invented her own flowers.

F O U R – Swiffer Dusters

I’ve been using these Swiffer Dusters for my entire adult life, and I don’t believe that I’ve ever shared them here on the blog.  I hate housework, so I’m always looking for anything that makes it a little easier.  These Swiffer Dusters make dusting a breeze – they are so much easier to use than a rag and spray.  All you do is slide one of the dusters onto the plastic wand and then get to dusting!  The wand is narrow so you can slide it under hard to reach places, and the dusters trap dust so it doesn’t get pushed around.  I can typically dust our entire house from top to bottom with just one duster.  Then you just pull it off and toss it in the trash.  So convenient, so much faster than dusting with a rag and cleaner, and they get the job done well!  Just thought I'd share since spring cleaning is right around the corner!

F I V E – Beautiful Words

Right now it feels like the whole world is on fire and things have been heavy.  I shared these beautiful words on Instagram and thought I’d share them here, too, for any of you who are feeling the weight of everything that has happened in our country this past month.

When things feel heavy and I feel helpless, my favorite thing to do is to pour into my family – walking and talking with Jacob, getting ice cream and chatting with Olivia, having long (sometimes hard) conversations as a family, doing puzzles together, listening to the kids play music and create, eating dinner together every night, snuggling with Maui on the couch, going on date nights with Brian, and just being together – it is always balm for my soul, especially when I’m weary.

Not only is this time together beneficial for me, but it’s beneficial for our kids, and I know our time together is shaping them into the future humans they will become.  And I pray that those humans end up being kind, honest, compassionate, helpful, inclusive, funny (and maybe a little sarcastic – hehe), light-hearted, spunky, and unapologetically themselves no matter how different they are from others.

How to Fix Album Artwork on Your iPhone When It’s Changed or Corrupted During an Upgrade

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 13 to an iPhone 16 Pro, and when I synced my new iPhone to my iTunes library for the first time, at least half of my album artwork was corrupted on my phone.  What do I mean by corrupted?  Well, the artwork for some of the albums (the album covers) changed from the correct album artwork to random artwork from various other albums.  Here's an example... this is the Taylor Swift Folklore album, but it was showing the cover for the Trolls soundtrack.

When it should have looked like this:

The Gracie Abrams album, The Secret of Us, had artwork for a Frank Sinatra album, the Zach Williams album, There Was Jesus, had artwork for a Lil Jon Christmas album, my favorite album by Phil Wickham, Hymns of Heaven, had artwork for R. Kelly (cringe) and so on.  And these are just a few examples of hundreds... thousands?

All of the changes were totally random, and some of my albums weren't corrupted at all.  Some of the newly updated (wrong) album covers were for albums that I don’t even have on my phone (R. Kelly, I’m looking at you), which was REALLY strange.  So I have no idea how this happened, why it happened, and if it will happen again.  Apparently, Apple is aware of the situation, but they want people to use their streaming services, so they haven’t made it a priority to get it fixed.

The weirdest part was that the artwork was only wrong on my phone.  It was all still correct in iTunes (thankfully).  If it hadn’t been correct in iTunes, then this fix I’m sharing today wouldn’t have worked.  So before you try this "fix," do check your album artwork in iTunes first to make sure it's correct.  To see if the album artwork is correct in iTunes, you can do the following:

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Click on “Albums” on the lefthand side
  3. View all of your album covers

Or if you want to check a specific song, you can do the following:

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Click on “Songs” on the lefthand side
  3. Right click on any song in your list
  4. Click “Song Info”
  5. Click “Artwork” at the top
  6. This is where you can delete artwork or manually change it should you want to

While this is definitely a first world problem to have and it’s not the end of the world, I knew it would drive my organized-everything-in-its-place-Type A-self insane.  INSANE.

Music is everything to me.  I love it.  I listen to it constantly.  I rarely use streaming services and instead I primarily listen to it from the music app on my iPhone AKA my personal library.  I have created dozens of playlists over the years – I have one for every mood, every situation, various years of my life, various people in my life (Brian, Jacob, Olivia), etc.  I even have some that were transferred and created from burned CDs from the early 2000s.

So, you can probably see how important it is to me to see the actual album artwork for Folklore when I’m listening to Folklore by Taylor Swift.  As a matter of fact, I care so much about having the correct album artwork for each album in my library, that I started the very large task last year of going through every single album in my iTunes library and uploading the album artwork for all of the blank ones that were on there.  (Many of them were blank because they were songs that were downloaded from Limewire back in the day – oops!  LOL – and some of them were blank because they were ripped from CDs and the artwork didn’t transfer.)  I spent hours upon hours last year, and I’m still only about halfway done with that task.

Anywayyyy, when I synced my iTunes library after getting my new iPhone and saw that all of my hard work had been undone in the blink of an eye, I was SO MAD.

The first thing I did was ask my technology guru – my husband, Brian – and he had no idea why or how that could have happened.  Since he was clueless, he and I both scoured the internet for a fix.

Apple was unhelpful (surprise, surprise), and while there were many suggestions for workarounds, all of the workarounds had negative consequences, too.  Sigh.

Brian finally found a thread on a discussion board on Apple’s website, and I owe all the credit to someone with the username “kronius” on there for solving my problem.

The fix sounds scary… it requires deleting all of your songs from your phone (EEEEK!) but it worked and it fixed all of the album covers!!!!

A few things to note before I provide the step-by-step instructions:

  1. None of my music has been purchased from Apple.  It is all purchased from Amazon, ripped from old CDs, or downloaded from Limewire way back.  So, this fix works for all music downloads… not just Apple purchases.
  2. The album artwork was only incorrect on my phone, NOT in iTunes.  All of the album artwork was correct in my iTunes.  If the album artwork is incorrect in iTunes for you, then this fix will not work for you.
  3. I had 6,181 songs on my phone at the time that I did this, so my music library was very large, but this process only took 45 minutes from start to finish, and 38 minutes of that was syncing the songs back to the iPhone.
  4. I had 62 playlists on my phone at the time that I did this, and they were all recovered and restored on my phone at the end of the process.  In other words, you will not lose your playlists.
  5. iTunes keeps a record of your listening stats… it shows how many times you have listened to a song, and the date and time each song was last played.  Going through this process does not mess up your stats either.  You will not lose them. (This was important to me, too.)

Okay, are you ready for the fix?!

Here is the step-by-step process to correct the album artwork on your phone:

  1. Open iTunes
  2. Connect iPhone to computer
  3. Select the iPhone in iTunes and go to “Music”
  4. Uncheck (turn off) “Sync Music”
  5. Click “Apply” – this will remove all music from the iPhone (this only takes a few seconds)
  6. Close iTunes
  7. Locate and delete the iTunes Album Artwork Cache directory (mine was here: C:/Users/[My Username]/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/Cache)
  8. Disconnect iPhone from computer
  9. Reboot iPhone (turn it off and turn it back on)
  10. Restart computer
  11. Open iTunes
  12. Connect iPhone to computer again
  13. Select the iPhone in iTunes and turn “Sync Music” back on
  14. Click “Apply” – this will put the music back on the iPhone and the album covers will now be corrected (this took 38 minutes for me and I had 6,181 songs and 62 playlists at the time)

It seems like a lot, and it seems a little scary, but y’all, it was SO EASY and I was actually in shock that it actually worked as I always have terrible luck with technology.

So, if you’re unfortunate in the technology department like I am, and this weird thing happens to you, I hope this helps!  Share with your friends!

And for you regular readers, I realize that this isn’t something that I typically post about, but I wanted to post about it today because a) I want it archived somewhere in a space that I own so I can access it easily should it happen again in the future, and b) I want to help others who may be having the same issue and can’t figure out how to fix it.

Because nobody has time to manually correct hundreds/thousands of album covers.

Have a great day, y’all!
