Happy Friday, y’all! It has a very busy week (and a heavy one at that), and I’m grateful that we don’t have much going on this weekend. Tonight, we’ll probably have a family movie night at home, tomorrow will be an all-day college football marathon paired with lots of rest, reading, and takeout (surrounded by our fall décor and the scent of cinnamon and pumpkin spice wafting through the house), and then Sunday will be a family day with our Sunday lunch and dinner with the grandparents. We truly have the perfect relaxing family weekend on deck!
Here are some favorites from the week to kick off the weekend!
O N E – Pumpkin Shaped Charlie
Brown Halloween Vinyl
When Olivia and I were out shopping last weekend, she saw this It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown special edition vinyl, and she said, “Mommy, you need this!” I was like, yes, yes I do! Haha. So, we put it in the cart, and I have been listening to it nonstop since then. The Charlie Brown Halloween and Christmas soundtracks are both so nostalgic for me, and the Halloween soundtrack in particular is so fun because our family has watched that movie every year on Halloween night since Jacob was born.
I cannot stress how much I love vinyl – the sound is just so special – and it sounds particularly good when you’re listening to something older rather than something new. We have been listening to this all week, and it’s just the coziest thing cooking in a kitchen that smells like pumpkin spice while drinking a glass of wine and listening to this record. We will have it on repeat until Halloween!
T W O – Sweater Vest
While Olivia and I were out shopping, she came across this sweater vest, and I was surprised that she wanted it in beige rather than cream or mauve. But then she told me that the beige gives “all the fall vibes” and I understood immediately why she chose that one! Haha. My little girlfriend was looking for a fall transitional piece, and she completely nailed it! She can wear this even while it’s still hot outside and still look like fall. ;o)
It truly is the cutest thing, and like I said, it also comes in cream and mauve. All of the colors are so cute. The quality is excellent, too, and they fit true-to-size.
T H R E E – New Dove
Volume & Fullness Shampoo
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect volume shampoo ever since Dove discontinued the one that I loved a couple of years ago. I have been using my OG tried and true – Pantene Sheer Volume – in the interim, and while I love that one, it just wasn’t the same as my Dove that I had loved for so long.
Well, apparently, Dove changed up their whole line, and for the first time ever, I saw this new Dove Volume & Fullness Shampoo when we were out shopping, and I couldn’t grab it fast enough!
This shampoo is designed for fine, thin, flat hair (it’s me, hi!) and it’s infused with biotin which helps regenerate hair strength and “refill it with 1 trillion protein strength builders with every wash.” It protects hair, it repairs hair, and it restores hair to reduce signs of damage while adding maximum volume to hair that is otherwise flat and lackluster, and y’all, I am SO PLEASED with it. I’ve been using it for nearly two weeks as you’re reading this, and I can honestly say that this shampoo adds more volume and texture than the Pantene.
The one thing I don’t typically love about volume shampoos is that they can make hair look dry and dull, but this new Dove shampoo makes my hair look shiny while also providing volume… that’s not something that usually goes hand in hand. I usually have to sacrifice one for the other. But not with this shampoo. Oh, and did I mention that it smells heavenly?
If you are looking to increase volume without sacrificing shine, this shampoo is amazing. I’m hoping that Dove keeps this one in the product line forever!
F O U R – Bug Bite
Thing + Cortizone-10
We always keep these two things in our medicine cabinet, and boy, did they come in clutch this week. Ugh. It’s a long story that I’ll recap in my weekly post next week, but long story short – Olivia was playing outside Monday evening and she fell in the grass, and in the five seconds that she was on the ground, her head went into a fire ant bed, and she ended up with at least 30 fire ant bites all over her body. It was a nightmare.
Thankfully, we had our Bug Bite Thing and Cortizone-10 in the cabinet, so after she showered all of the ants off, I used the Bug Bite Thing to suck the venom out, and then we covered each of her bites with Cortizone-10 for residual itchiness.
I was really worried that she was going to be in horrible pain or have horrible itching for the rest of the night (I mean THIRTY+ BITES, ugh), but thankfully, she recovered pretty quickly. She is still covered in bites (ant bites take foreverrrr to go away), but thankfully, she is doing okay aside from some mild itching here and there. She takes Claritin this time of year for her seasonal allergies, so it also helped that she has that in her system.
We are so grateful that she is okay, though, because getting bitten that many times at once can be extremely dangerous, and it could have been so much worse. Bottom line, always keep one of these Bug Bite Things in your cabinet just in case. It works on mosquitoes, bees, wasps, flies, chiggers, sea lice, and more.
F I V E – September
Sentiment
I saw this on Instagram on the first day of September, and I thought it was so beautiful. All of us are holding on to some form of doubt, fear, anxiety, old trauma, past hurts, and regret, and this sentiment is a great reminder to shed all of those things like trees shed their leaves in the fall. Because you’re never going to grow if you can’t let the bad things go.

Now I'm wondering if an ant is what bit my foot a few weeks ago. The mark is still there! Hope Olivia is ok now!
