Happy Friday, y’all!  Today, as usual, I’m sharing some favorites, so let’s get right to it.

O N E – Laptop Organizer

We don’t allow technology in the kids’ bedrooms overnight, so we have a space in the kitchen where they plug everything in and leave it before they go to bed.  That spot in the kitchen has become the bane of my existence, though, because we have two laptops, an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and a set of Airpods that all rest there, along with aaaallll of their cords.  I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with the best way to get everything organized, and while there are some great charging stations out there for laptops, etc., they are bulky and take up too much space.

I came across this acrylic file and thought it would be the best option.  It has three slots (there is also another option that has just two slots), and we plan to use one for Jacob’s laptop, one for Olivia’s laptop, and one for all of the other little items.  I plan to set it up this weekend and bundle the cords, and I’ll share what it looks like after we get it all organized.  I’m really excited about it!!  In the meantime, here’s the “before” picture of the countertop…

T W O – Nike Socks

My faaaavorite socks from the late 1900s (LOL) are back in style, and I cannot even tell you how happy that makes me!  While I’ll probably always wear no-show socks for my workouts, I loveeee that the Nike socks that I wore in high school in 1998 are making the fashion rounds again.  I’m already jumping on the trend, and I purchased this six-pack from Dick’s Sporting Goods.  I forgot how good and cushiony Nike socks are!

T H R E E – The First Gift of Christmas!

Well, it has happened… I have officially started Christmas shopping!  Olivia recently started throwing out ideas and making her official Christmas list, and I have officially started purchasing said items from her list.  One of the things she wants the most – an actual blackout sleep mask.  She has been sleeping in a sleep mask every single night since she was about five or six years old (and by the way, I think that is absolutely hilarious), and now she is asking for one that blacks out all light.

I have seen people blog about this one for years, so it was the first one that I went to research, and it is incredibly popular!  It currently has 4.6 / 5 stars with more than 95,000 reviews, and the reviews are fantastic.  It’s made of memory foam so it’s soft and comfortable.  It has deep eye cups so there is zero pressure put on your eyes, and the cups are so deep that you can blink naturally in them.  It has curved thin sides, making them comfortable for side sleepers, and the perfectly contoured nose bridge cutout puts zero pressure on your nose so there is no issue with breathing.  It has an adjustable strap from 19-28 inches, so it fits literally everyone (even children), and the strap won’t snag hair.  The best part – it blocks out 100% of light as the eye cups seal completely around each eye.  They literally thought of everything when designing it!  They come in five different colors, and of course, I snagged the purple one for Olivia.

F O U R – Freida McFadden Books

I finally jumped on the Freida McFadden train a couple of weeks ago and I’ve already devoured THREE of her books + half of a fourth.  I typically read a lot during summer break, and then my reading really wanes during the school year, but these books are all so good that I’ve been using every spare second to read because I cannot put them down.  So far, I’ve read Never Lie (5 stars), The Teacher (5 stars), The Boyfriend (4.5 stars only because it wasn’t quite as good as the other two), and now I’m reading The Crash.

Y’all, this woman knows how to write a page turner!!!!  The books are all suspenseful, keeping you on the edge of your seat, but without being overly graphic/disturbing.  And just when you think you have the book figured out, there’s always a twist, and you find yourself shocked.  The best part is that the books are quick and easy to read – they’re not so twisty and complicated that you have trouble keeping up – but they still manage to surprise you.  If you’re looking for a new-to-you author to love, I highly recommend her.  I haven’t read one I didn’t love yet.  I’m told The Housemaid is her best one, and I’m excited to report that my hold at the library is finally available so I’ll be reading that one next!

F I V E – An Informative Article

In light of all the recent gun violence in our nation, my friends and I have had many heart-to-heart conversations about the subject this past week, and one of my friends sent this article by Dr. Jessica Knurick to me on Wednesday.  It’s a long read, but it’s so informative and the evidence from RAND’s research and analysis is so shocking (especially the third bullet point!) that I thought I’d drop it here for anyone else who would like to read.  (And the sentiment below this has nothing to do with that article... I just thought they were beautiful words.)
