I read this poem on Instagram the other night and it resonated with me so much because it demonstrates so perfectly the dichotomy that is life, and exactly how I have felt this year, especially recently.
It’s a wild
ride, this life.
It’s joyful. It’s sad. It’s crazy and wild and beautiful, and it’s so. very. ugly. sometimes. But one thing I’ve learned more than ever this year is that joy and sorrow, beauty and ugliness, light and darkness, triviality and heaviness can coexist… and they do every single day.
Some days, the sorrows of the world consume me, and some days I choose joy, and I completely tune out all the other noise.
We all must grieve the sadness in the world, and we cannot let ourselves become numb to it, but we must also allow ourselves to celebrate all the little things that bring us joy, no matter how trivial or insignificant they may be.
Joy and sorrow.
Beauty and
ugliness.
Light and
darkness.
Triviality and
heaviness.
We can hold all
of them together.
Happy Monday. <3
This is such a good reminder as we hold sorrow and joy. I often say our emotions run on parallel tracks at the same time. Hope it is a good weekfor you!
