Five On Friday - Favorite Recent Purchases

Well hello, Friday, I’ve been missing you these last few days!

We have a lot planned for this weekend – a little bit of yard maintenance, ridding the back porch furniture of all of the disgusting pollen (and praying that it’s finished now), hanging the wall decorations on the back porch, and removing our existing non-matching ceiling fan and replacing it with the new matching one on the back porch.  We extended our back porch last summer we couldn’t find a ceiling fan to match our existing one, so we had to have a totally different one installed.  I thought that I could look past the mismatched fans since they’re a good 15 feet apart from each other, but nope, I can’t.  I just can’t.

And since all work and no play makes for a boring weekend, we have also left room for some fun as well.  Brian and I are finally heading out for our first date night alone together in 2016!  Our other date nights were for the ball that we attended back in January with family and friends, and the Elton John concert that we attended in March with my parents, so we really haven’t had a chance to spend time with one another, just the two of us.  I’m really looking forward to having him all to myself for a few hours.  And, I’m really, really excited because we are heading to the fanciest restaurant in town!  We’ve been wanting to try it since it opened a couple of years ago, but we just haven’t had the chance.  The chef is just amazing and it’s supposed to be quite a dining experience, so we’re really excited!  Plus, I love an excuse to get all dressed up.  ;o)

And speaking of dressing up, in the spring, I get the itch to buy new stuff – clothes, shoes, stuff for the kids, home décor, you name it.  Fortunately my birthday coincides with this itch, so I tend to get gift cards to my favorite stores and I’ve been doing a little bit of shopping.  I’ve found several things recently that I love, so I thought that I would share them with you in case you have the shopping itch, too.  #Enabler

O N E – Clothes for Moi

Old Navy is on point with the spring clothing.  As a matter of fact, I’m just going to stay out of the store and delete every email from them to rid myself of the temptation to go buy all the things!  I did, however, snag these three things a couple of weeks ago when the entire website was 40% off.  The peplum tops are really flattering and comfortable and they are going to be perfect for the especially hot summer days because they’re so light and loose.  I’m hoping to wear the dress this Saturday for our date, but the low is supposed to be 41 here Saturday night, so that maaaay not happen.

T W O – Swimwear for Moi

We are heading to the beach in June, so I splurged on a few new bathing suits to add my collection.  I don’t typically buy three new suits in one year, but I had a couple of gift cards to Victoria’s Secret and they stopped selling clothes - why?! – so I had nothing else to spend them on.  I’ve been wanting a color block bathing suit and this one is just perfect.  And the top of the aqua suit is just so flattering.  I love the extra band that wraps around the bottom… adds a little somethin’ something’ to make it a little more interesting.

Before I bought the bathing suits from Victoria’s Secret, I had already found a bathing suit at Target that I couldn’t resist because – black and white stripes!!!!  Needless to say, my bathing suit needs should now be covered for the next 12 years.  Just kidding, I’ll probably want another one next summer.  You can never have too many, amIright?

T H R E E – Clothes for Jacob

Jacob now wears a uniform to school, so he doesn’t require a lot of additional clothing for 9 months out of the year, but we did pick up a few things for him to wear during the summer.

F O U R – Clothes for Olivia

Old Navy, Target, and Carter’s are my go-to places for all things baby and this year, none of them disappointed.  Old Navy and Carter’s are both really good about having 40% off sales so we got really good deals on all of it!

F I V E – Home Décor

As I said earlier, we’re finally decorating our back porch this weekend, so I snagged a few things from Hobby Lobby and Target with my birthday gift cards.  I can’t wait to show you the finished back porch!

Sending warm and sunny vibes to all of you!  XO

  6. Have so much fun on your date!! Nights out with just the hubs are always so fun and much needed. Love those peplum tops. Wish that I could pull them off. You're giving me inspiration to decorate our porch. We had it built a year and half ago and besides furniture have done nothing to it. Happy Friday!

    1. I've always been a big girly girl, so I'm sure I would be sad if I didn't have a little lady to dress. I had the best time dressing Jacob when he was little, too, though! All he wants to wear now is superhero stuff. Lol.
