My Birthday Weekend

Hi friends!  After an unintentional three day weekend, I’m trying to get back in the swing of things this morning.  My birthday weekend started out a little rocky when Olivia awoke in the middle of the night Thursday night with a seal bark cough and some scary labored breathing.  Fortunately we were able to scrape together the ends of her old steroid prescriptions to make one whole dose, and her breathing regulated within 20 minutes.  No ER, thank goodness!

Friday morning I got up, called the doc the second they opened, and they were able to get her in at 9:30.  The doc diagnosed her with croup (which we already knew), prescribed more steroid for her, and sent us on our merry way.  Fortunately Olivia was fine for the rest of the day – no fever, no ear infections (thank you, tubes!), and she was eating and drinking fine.  I kept her home so she wouldn’t infect the other babies at school, and we spent the day together.  She was hamming it up at the doc… you would never have even known that she was sick!

She napped for 3.5 hours Friday since she had been up half of the night, so I used that time to finally unpack my Silhouette Cameo that B got for me, ohhhh, four months ago?  Set up was easy peasy, but learning how to design and print and cut was another story.  Lawd, I was frustrated by the time naptime was over, but I think I’m getting the hang of the design portion of it.  Still haven’t cut anything with it yet, though.

I had already scheduled to meet with a landscaper on my lunch break Friday, so they still came out for a consult.  We have several things that we’re wanting done, and now we’re just awaiting the estimate so we can decide what to do.  These are some of the ideas that we’re working up…

When Olivia awoke she was just as happy as ever, so we decided to go ahead and continue with our original Friday evening plans to celebrate my birthday with Brian’s dad.  He apparently wasn’t concerned about the risk of getting sick, so we spent the evening at his house and had pizza, cookie cake, and present opening with him.

Olivia had no complications Friday night, so we decided to take a little day trip to Callaway Gardens Saturday to see their blooming azaleas.  The weather was stunning – a little on the chilly side early on, but it quickly warmed up to 70ish, and we had a great day touring the Butterfly Center and the gardens.  Everything was so picturesque.

We had to be back home by 2 because Brian had a tennis match, so I put the kids down for naps and quiet time, and I used the time to finally work on my office for the home tour!!  I will finally have the post up next week – 4/12, so stay tuned… In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek if you didn’t already see this on Instagram.  I got some good, good labeling done and I’m so in love with this new font.  It’s called AR Bonnie and it’s free!  All you have to do is Google it!

Our city does free outdoor concerts during the spring and fall, and they had moved the one from Friday night to Saturday night since the weather had been so nasty, so we decided to head downtown for some dinner with my parents at our favorite brewpub, followed by a little bit of dancing in the streets and live music listening.  I just love our sweet little city and I love that they have events like this so frequently!  We finished the evening off with frozen yogurt, and then it was time to get the babies home where they crashed after such an eventful day.  Olivia was so exhausted that she fell asleep with all of her babies still piled on her.  Haha.

Sunday we spent the day with Brian’s mom and step-dad and his sister and her family – a big homemade lunch that I got to hand-pick, ice cream cake, presents, and more time outside.

Sunday evening we headed to my parents’ house as always for more birthday celebrations – another home-cooked dinner, more cake, and more presents!

I’m stuffed, armed with oodles of gift cards to do some shopping, and as happy as a clam.  It was truly a wonderful birthday weekend!  And the celebrations will continue this week for my actual birthday on Tuesday and in a couple of weekends when we celebrate with all of our friends!  I’m so excited I can’t stand it!  Happy Monday, all you lovely ladies!!

I've told Dustin we need to go down there at Christmas time to see all the lights. What city do you live in (if that's not to weird to ask ha)?

  13. Happy birthday!!
How adorable are those little sweethearts?!
Croup is terrible. We had to take Annabelle to the ER earlier this year because of it and I was terrified. She couldn't breathe and it was so scary.
    You take beautiful pictures!!!!
