Five on Friday - Little Black Amazon Dress, Cute Walmart Top, and Reader DMs

Hey y’all, happy Friday!  How is everyone doing this first Friday of January?  We eased back into the swing of things earlier this week, and while it was a rude awakening after a whole bunch of laziness during Christmas break, I am welcoming structure with open arms.  It’s who I am.  Haha.

Are y’all ready for some favorites from the past few weeks?  Let’s go!

O N E – Black Dress

I mentioned in my Amazon purchases post the other day that I’m on the hunt for a cocktail dress for a benefit ball we’re going to at the end of this month, and several people reached out to ask if I would share some pictures of myself in this dress that I shared in my Amazon post earlier this week.

I love the slanted neckline and I think the cutout on the torso is well-done so it’s not too revealing.  I still haven’t decided if this one is THE ONE, but it’s definitely a contender.  I truly love it, but I have to make sure I can get my dance on in it.  Haha.

Also, I don’t think I mentioned this in my Amazon post, but this dress is only $37.99, and it comes in 15 different colors if you’re wanting something other than black.

Anyway, here it is on an actual person… and please excuse the filthy mirror… it has since been cleaned.  Haha.

T W O – Walmart Top

Walmart has been killing it in the fashion department these last few years, and one of the lines that I love is the Sophia Vergara line.  All of the items are high quality, they’re comfy, and they’re priced just right, especially when they’re on sale.  I bought this top when it went on sale, and I could not love it more.  The sweetheart neckline is so feminine, and the puff sleeves add so much to an otherwise plain top.

The fabric is soft and substantial, and it is really great quality all around.  It’s true-to-size (I’m in a small) and it’s currently on sale for just $25.  It also comes in off-white!

T H R E E – Christmas Treats Delivery

My mother-in-law and step-father-in-law always have a package of Christmas treats sent to us in the weeks leading up to Christmas, and it’s always one of my favorite things!  This year, they sent oranges, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate caramel popcorn, frosted sugar cookies, and an assortment of other items, and we’ve been snacking on all of it since then.  The oranges are always my favorite part as they’re so much more flavorful than oranges from the grocery store… they’re so fresh and juicy!  This little snack box has definitely been a favorite from these last few weeks!

F O U R – Sweet DM From a Reader

I received this DM from a sweet reader a few weeks ago, and I wanted to share it here so I can have it saved in this little space forever.

This.

This is why I love blogging, y’all!  You all touch my heart daily and you inspire me in so many ways.  I’ll always be so grateful for this community.  I truly love you all!

F I V E – Compliments

While we’re being sappy, I also just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have taken time out of your day recently to send a kind note to me.  Over the last month or so, I’ve received several DMs/emails from readers telling me that I look like I’m “glowing” or that I look great, or that they love following along, and it truly means so much to me to receive these kind words from all of you.

I’m not really sure what I’ve been doing differently to bring these on, but I just wanted to let all of you know that your kind words do not go unnoticed, and I’m just really grateful for all of you who follow along each day.  Taking a moment out of your day to lift someone else up for no reason at all has a bigger impact than you’ll ever know, and I promise to pay each and every one of these compliments forward to make someone else’s day.

  2. I just love this post and you do look amazing! Those compliments are so sweet. I have not been on Instagram since Christmas Eve and it has been so refreshing but I have to say I’m a little sad but only one person has checked in on me. Out of sight out of mind. Lol. But the blogging I will never give up it’s where I started and the people are the best! Like you! Happy new year!

  7. I agree with the compliments...you are looking good and seems like you are in such a sweet spot right now with your family, fitness and life in general. What a great note you received about the journaling. Whenever anyone lets me know I've helped them in any way, even just a movie or book recommendation, it makes my day. Keep up the awesome work!
