This weekend was good. It was equal parts relaxing, fun, and productive and those are always the best kind if you ask me!
This weekend was good. It was equal parts relaxing, fun, and productive and those are always the best kind if you ask me!
Friday afternoon we received
an impromptu invite to meet some friends at Mex to celebrate my friend
Jeannine’s son’s second birthday. We had
no set plans so we took them up on their offer and we had a great time! The kiddos munched on chips and cheese dip
and ran wild while the adults shared a couple of pitchers of margaritas… a good
time was had by all! Well, except maybe
for the people around us. ;o)
We, of course, had
to snap a picture of all of the littles because we know that these pictures
will be so fun to look back on one day.
Just look at all of those smiling faces!
And to think that’s only about half of our group’s kids. Wowzers.
We got home a little after
the kids’ bedtime, so it was straight up to bed for them, and then B and I
watched a movie. We are in between
binge-watching shows, and our new TV shows haven’t yet started, so we had a rare
chance to watch a movie. There wasn’t
much on Netflix that we haven’t already seen, so we ended up going with The
Accountant with Ben Affleck. It wasn’t
at all what I had pictured it to be, and since I was so exhausted from the long
week I fell asleep a little over halfway through while B rubbed my feet. Oh well!
Saturday morning Jacob had a
soccer game so we were up and at the field by 10 AM. Olivia threw a major tantrum over wearing the
team shirt again since it’s not a “pretty PRETTY dress” but I made her wear it
anyway to support the team and she ended up looking so stinking cute in it
again.
This boy was not amused with
the picture taking.
Jacob’s team won 5-4 and
they are now 3-0!! This was by far the
most challenging team that we have had to play, but we were able to pull a win
anyway! Jacob still wasn’t aggressive
enough to score a goal, but he did get an assist which we were all excited
about. Slowly but surely he’s warming up
and getting in the game a little more each time, so I’m hoping he’ll score one
soon. And it better not be the weekend
that B and I are out of town. Lol.
After his big win we stopped
by Jersey Mike’s for some lunch and then we headed over to the Halloween store
to start looking at costumes. The kids
had such a blast scaring themselves with all of the spooky things in the store,
and they also successfully picked out costumes.
Olivia opted to be Tinker Bell which I am so excited about (and I was
also shocked that she picked her) and Jacob opted to be Voltron who is some
kind of super hero thingy… it’s a Netflix original and he is obsessed with it. Yes, even our kids like to binge on Netflix –
haha. The store didn’t have his size, so
we just snagged his sword there and B was able to find the costume even cheaper on Amazon. But of course!
While we were at the
Halloween store look what I found – so much Hocus Pocus loot! Y’all, they had the cutest stuff and I wanted
it all! That will forever be one of my
favorite movies from when I was a kid.
And Brian informed me yesterday that he has never seen it. I’m sorry, WHAT?!
Saturday afternoon we went
to church and then it was straight back home to watch Georgia
play. On the way home we cranked up our
UGA playlist and had a dance party (you may have seen it on my Insta Stories)
in the car to get ourselves ready for the game.
The kids always love doing that… B and I both have UGA play lists on our
phone with all of the fight songs that the band plays as well as several of the
songs that they play in the stadium on game day and it always gets us excited
to cheer on our red and black!
When we got home, I lit a
pumpkin candle, my FIL brought pizza over, and we all drank pumpkin beer while
watching the game… that is what I call the epitome of a perfect fall evening,
y’all! We played Mississippi State
who had just obliterated LSU the week prior, so everyone was expecting us to
lose, but we ended up obliterating them instead. It was pretty much the best and we are now
ranked in the Top 10! Our new QB is
awesome. Freaking awesome, y’all. And he’s only a freshman.
Sunday morning I got up
early, got ready, and went straight to the grocery store to do my bi-weekly
shopping. And every time I do this I am
always reminded why I should do this every single time – there’s nobody there
at 9 AM on a Sunday, the shelves are always fully stocked with the freshest
product, and I never have to wait to check out.
I was in and out of there and back home within 35 minutes. And when I got home it was only 9:35 AM. #Winning
After I got home B went out
to mow and I got busy cleaning out the fridge, putting the groceries away,
preparing for the week ahead, tidying up the kitchen, doing laundry, cleaning
out the kids’ dressers and closets, and getting some pictures organized on my
computer and my Amazon drive. If you’re
looking for a good place to store all of your files, Amazon drive is THE
BEST. We have been using them for
several years now and I won’t use anyone else as long as they’re around! Every single picture, video, and paper that I
have ever taken or created in my entire life is on there so I never have to
worry about losing them if my computer or phone crash or if our house catches
on fire. (Sorry for being morbid. Haha.)
Sunday afternoon we went to
my MIL and step-FIL’s for lunch and we had a good long while to play in the yard
afterward. It was in the mid-eighties
but Olivia had insisted on wearing a fleece sweater. <Insert eye roll here.> She saw it when we were cleaning out her
closet and she just had to wear it,
but she never once complained about being hot.
#SheBetterNot
We walked around the garden
for a bit and saw some fuzzy bees and some okra that is still going strong and
then it was back home to prepare for Sunday dinner.
Yesterday was my Momma’s
birthday so we hosted Sunday dinner at our house because I didn’t want her to
have to cook on her special day. I made
Sausage and Vodka pasta, broccoli, and garlic bread and we mixed up some Moscow
Mules for the non-wine drinkers and the rest of us shared a bottle of merlot. We had a Publix Chocolate Ganache cake for
dessert because my Momma is a major chocoholic, and OMG if you have a Publix
you need to try one of those!
We had a great evening
watching football, listening to old standards, and chatting, and as always it
was the perfect ending to a pretty much perfect weekend.
I heart fall so much, y’all.
