The Weekend

*This post may contain affiliate links.

This weekend was good.  It was equal parts relaxing, fun, and productive and those are always the best kind if you ask me!

Friday afternoon we received an impromptu invite to meet some friends at Mex to celebrate my friend Jeannine’s son’s second birthday.  We had no set plans so we took them up on their offer and we had a great time!  The kiddos munched on chips and cheese dip and ran wild while the adults shared a couple of pitchers of margaritas… a good time was had by all!  Well, except maybe for the people around us.  ;o)

We, of course, had to snap a picture of all of the littles because we know that these pictures will be so fun to look back on one day.  Just look at all of those smiling faces!  And to think that’s only about half of our group’s kids.  Wowzers.

We got home a little after the kids’ bedtime, so it was straight up to bed for them, and then B and I watched a movie.  We are in between binge-watching shows, and our new TV shows haven’t yet started, so we had a rare chance to watch a movie.  There wasn’t much on Netflix that we haven’t already seen, so we ended up going with The Accountant with Ben Affleck.  It wasn’t at all what I had pictured it to be, and since I was so exhausted from the long week I fell asleep a little over halfway through while B rubbed my feet.  Oh well!

Saturday morning Jacob had a soccer game so we were up and at the field by 10 AM.  Olivia threw a major tantrum over wearing the team shirt again since it’s not a “pretty PRETTY dress” but I made her wear it anyway to support the team and she ended up looking so stinking cute in it again.

This boy was not amused with the picture taking.

Jacob’s team won 5-4 and they are now 3-0!!  This was by far the most challenging team that we have had to play, but we were able to pull a win anyway!  Jacob still wasn’t aggressive enough to score a goal, but he did get an assist which we were all excited about.  Slowly but surely he’s warming up and getting in the game a little more each time, so I’m hoping he’ll score one soon.  And it better not be the weekend that B and I are out of town.  Lol.

After his big win we stopped by Jersey Mike’s for some lunch and then we headed over to the Halloween store to start looking at costumes.  The kids had such a blast scaring themselves with all of the spooky things in the store, and they also successfully picked out costumes.  Olivia opted to be Tinker Bell which I am so excited about (and I was also shocked that she picked her) and Jacob opted to be Voltron who is some kind of super hero thingy… it’s a Netflix original and he is obsessed with it.  Yes, even our kids like to binge on Netflix – haha.  The store didn’t have his size, so we just snagged his sword there and B was able to find the costume even cheaper on Amazon.  But of course!

While we were at the Halloween store look what I found – so much Hocus Pocus loot!  Y’all, they had the cutest stuff and I wanted it all!  That will forever be one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid.  And Brian informed me yesterday that he has never seen it.  I’m sorry, WHAT?!

Saturday afternoon we went to church and then it was straight back home to watch Georgia play.  On the way home we cranked up our UGA playlist and had a dance party (you may have seen it on my Insta Stories) in the car to get ourselves ready for the game.  The kids always love doing that… B and I both have UGA play lists on our phone with all of the fight songs that the band plays as well as several of the songs that they play in the stadium on game day and it always gets us excited to cheer on our red and black!

When we got home, I lit a pumpkin candle, my FIL brought pizza over, and we all drank pumpkin beer while watching the game… that is what I call the epitome of a perfect fall evening, y’all!  We played Mississippi State who had just obliterated LSU the week prior, so everyone was expecting us to lose, but we ended up obliterating them instead.  It was pretty much the best and we are now ranked in the Top 10!  Our new QB is awesome.  Freaking awesome, y’all.  And he’s only a freshman.

Sunday morning I got up early, got ready, and went straight to the grocery store to do my bi-weekly shopping.  And every time I do this I am always reminded why I should do this every single time – there’s nobody there at 9 AM on a Sunday, the shelves are always fully stocked with the freshest product, and I never have to wait to check out.  I was in and out of there and back home within 35 minutes.  And when I got home it was only 9:35 AM.  #Winning

After I got home B went out to mow and I got busy cleaning out the fridge, putting the groceries away, preparing for the week ahead, tidying up the kitchen, doing laundry, cleaning out the kids’ dressers and closets, and getting some pictures organized on my computer and my Amazon drive.  If you’re looking for a good place to store all of your files, Amazon drive is THE BEST.  We have been using them for several years now and I won’t use anyone else as long as they’re around!  Every single picture, video, and paper that I have ever taken or created in my entire life is on there so I never have to worry about losing them if my computer or phone crash or if our house catches on fire.  (Sorry for being morbid.  Haha.)

Sunday afternoon we went to my MIL and step-FIL’s for lunch and we had a good long while to play in the yard afterward.  It was in the mid-eighties but Olivia had insisted on wearing a fleece sweater.  <Insert eye roll here.>  She saw it when we were cleaning out her closet and she just had to wear it, but she never once complained about being hot.  #SheBetterNot

We walked around the garden for a bit and saw some fuzzy bees and some okra that is still going strong and then it was back home to prepare for Sunday dinner.

Yesterday was my Momma’s birthday so we hosted Sunday dinner at our house because I didn’t want her to have to cook on her special day.  I made Sausage and Vodka pasta, broccoli, and garlic bread and we mixed up some Moscow Mules for the non-wine drinkers and the rest of us shared a bottle of merlot.  We had a Publix Chocolate Ganache cake for dessert because my Momma is a major chocoholic, and OMG if you have a Publix you need to try one of those!

We had a great evening watching football, listening to old standards, and chatting, and as always it was the perfect ending to a pretty much perfect weekend.

I heart fall so much, y’all.

Five on Friday - Favorites

*This post may contain affiliate links.

Due to holidays, hurricanes, and days off for doctor’s appointments and baby-watching, I haven’t worked many five-day weeks in the last couple of months, so working Monday through Friday this week was loooong.  I got up on Tuesday thinking it was Thursday and I got up Wednesday thinking it was Friday, so I’m actually in disbelief that Friday is finally here.  I thought I would never see it!  Haha.

Today I’m sharing some faves!

O N E – Fall Decor

Did you catch my post on Tuesday?  I shared our fall home tour and this year’s décor is by far my favorite.  Every year I put up the same things from previous years but I try to mix it all up and put it in different spaces each year to come up with new looks.  I also try to add a couple of new things each year, and this year was no exception.  My mantle this year is so good that I don’t think I’m going to want to try anything different next year!  That surely won’t stop me from doing a fall home tour post next year, but don’t be surprised if next year’s décor looks pretty much the same as this year’s.  ;o)

Anyhoo, you all know just how much I adore fall, so snuggling up on the couch with B each evening after the kiddos have gone to bed has been even better lately since we have this lovely view of fall goodness.

The post is here if you missed it, and I tried to link as many items as I could in case you want to create your own little fall wonderland, too.  Spoiler alert – almost everything is from Hobby Lobby.  No surprise there, though.  ;o)

My sweet friend Laura also featured it over on her blog today so you can head over there to see it as well!  Thank you, Laura!

T W O – Boutique Quality Tunics & Leggings for CHEAP

I’m always on the hunt for good basic leggings and tunics that won’t break the bank and for some reason they’re really hard to find.  Well, I stumbled on these leggings and these tunics the other day, and I couldn’t even believe my luck!  They both have loads of reviews, most of which are excellent, they come in a bajillion different colors and patterns, and they. are. so. cheap.  I’ve looked all over creation for a cream colored tunic these last couple of years and I have never found one, so I ordered this one yesterday.  I am so excited to get it and I’ll let y’all know how I like it!  If you want to see whole post, you can find it here.

T H R E E – Top 100 Holiday Toys

Amazon put out their list of the top 100 toys for the upcoming holiday season and I was really happy to see it.  I love online shopping, but sometimes it’s really hard when you’re not looking for something specific and you just want to browse… you know, since you don’t have the same visibility to everything as a whole like you do in a store.  This list makes it easy to browse the popular items, several of which have already been purchased to put under our tree this Christmas.  A lot of the items are already on sale, too, which makes them pretty much irresistible.  From this brand new Lego Ninjago Lego Set (which I'm actually hesitant to post on here because I don't want it to sell out in case we decide to get it for Jacob - haha) to this awesome new Etch A Sketch ( I think I would like to have one of these for myself!) to this adorable toddler drum set to this giant stuffed unicorn.  I mean, I'm not a fan of unicorns, but if I was I would have to have this.  Well done, Amazon.  Well done.  Walmart and Target who?!

F O U R – Baby Girl Can Write

Jacob was recently working on homework and Olivia decided that she wanted to color at the table with him.  I handed her some paper and crayons and started helping Jacob with one of his problems, and a couple of minutes later she said, “Look Mommy, I wrote my name!”  I didn’t have it written anywhere for her to see nor did she ask me how to spell it or how to write the letters, but she wrote almost her entire name from memory!  I couldn’t believe it!  We know that she knows her letters and that she can even write some of them, but I had no idea that she could do all of that from memory.  And that handwriting!!  Not too shabby for three years old!

F I V E – These Booties

The weather this week has been sunny and beautiful but also scorching hot.  I am already in that fall mindset so it’s been really hard waking up and putting on sleeveless blouses and skirts all week.  Momma’s ready for pants and scarves!  Since I can’t quite rock cooler weather clothes, I have been wearing the one thing that makes me feel like fall but keeps me feeling cool for the summer-like temps.  These booties!  Aren’t they cute?  I know I've mentioned them before, but they are so comfy and affordable that they are definitely one of my favorites for the week... and they are also on sale!

I hope you have the very best weekend!

Boutique Quality Leggings & Tunics for Half the Price

*This post may contain affiliate links.

Leggings are all the rage these days, and you can pretty much find them in any color and pattern imaginable.  With so many options available I can’t help but want a whole closet-full, because let’s face it – I’m #basic and I do love to wear clothes that feel like PJs.  You know you do, too!

The one thing that I don’t love about them is the price.  Why oh why are leggings so expensive?!  For the longest time I was only able to find them in boutiques with price tags upwards of $30.  And I’m sure you have all heard of LuLaroe as it is probably the most well-known brand of leggings, but the staggering price tag on those has always scared me away as well.  Since these won’t be in style forever and since I love variety, I just can’t bring myself to pay that much for one pair.  I did buy a pair of these since I wear black leggings the most, but they aren’t offered in many colors, and even if they were, I wouldn't be able to afford more.  So what’s a girl to do?

Well, for the last couple of years Walmart has sold some cute ones, but the quality is not great.  I’ve had issues with them digging into my waist and sliding down plus they’re not stretchy enough, and they also wear out very quickly.

But guess what I just found?!

These!!!!

They are only $11.99 each, y’all.  $11.99!!  And they have loads of raving reviews!  I’ve never had the privilege of slipping on a pair of LuLaroes so I can’t personally attest to this, but everyone in the reviews is stating that the quality of these is every bit as good as LuLaroe leggings and that they are equally as buttery and comfy.  They come in one size that fits sizes XS to L.  With 45 colors and patterns to choose from plus free two-day shipping and free returns, I feel like I've hit the leggings jackpot!

And what’s a girl to do with heaps of leggings?  Why, buy something to cover her hiney, of course!  ;o)

I’m a big believer in wearing tunics or longer tops and sweaters with leggings because I like for my butt to be covered when I’m wearing leggings since they’re basically thick tights.  However, tunics are another item that I have always had trouble finding.  The only ones I’ve ever been able to find are from boutiques, and again, the price is a big turn-off.

I found these tunics that are soooo cute, and guess what?  They come in six sizes and 45 colors and they’re only $15.99 each!  These also come with free two-day shipping and free returns.  The reviews compare them to the LuLaroe Carly tunic, which again, I have never tried personally, but I know people rave about them, so if these tunics are that good then I’m thinking I’ll take one in every color!

Just kidding.

But seriously.

There’s pretty much no reason to wear real pants this winter if you ask me.

Fall Home Tour 2017

*This post may contain affiliate links.

Happy Tuesday, y’all!  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite posts of the whole year!  It’s my fall home tour for 2017!

Each year I put out the same pieces, but I like to rearrange them and also add a few new things to them each year to change everything up for a completely different look.  I’m so excited to share this tour with you because this is my very favorite year yet for fall décor!!  I am happy with every single inch and I’m pleased as punch with the results.

I’ll just stop blabbing about it and let the pictures do the talking.

Enjoy!

Well, what did you think?  I’m usually soooo excited about decorating for Christmas each year, but I have to admit that I’m going to be a little sad to take down this year’s fall décor.  I don’t see how I can possibly top myself next year!

Before I go, here is a list of all of the items I used to decorate.  I linked as many as I could find online!
