Long Live the Weekend

Well, as usual, I blinked Thursday evening and it’s already Monday again.  Why oh why do the weekends fly by so quickly?  Especially during the holiday season!

Brian and I took the day off Friday to finish up our Christmas shopping and we were able to get it completely done.  Everything is officially wrapped and ready to go with the exception of the last two things that are coming in the mail this week.  Feels so good to have it all done!

Anyway, as I said before, Brian and I took the day off Friday.  We had breakfast at Panera (hello, Cinnamon Crunch Bagel), finished up all of the Christmas shopping, and grabbed some lunch at a new local pizza place that recently opened.  It was so good!  I had pepperoni, black olives, and roasted green peppers “old world style,” and B had pepperoni and roasted green peppers “New York style.”  Both were so delicious, and I think we’ve found a new place to add into our regular rotation.  We love some pizza!

After lunch we went to see The Night Before, the new Seth Rogen Christmas comedy.  It was hilarious!  A bit raunchy, and definitely not one for the kids, but really funny!

Friday evening we watched Miracle on 34th Street with the kids for the first time.  Jacob enjoyed it, although he seemed a little distracted at first, and as always, Olivia didn’t pay a bit of attention to it because she was too busy being busy.  Haha.

Saturday it was almost eighty degrees (just insane) so we spent all morning outside in the back yard.  Brian finally hung our outdoor café lights around our back porch and they are just stunning.  I cannot wait to enjoy dinner on the back porch with these babies up!

Saturday evening we went to church.  I was worried Olivia would be a little crazed in church since she hasn’t been in so long (I’ve just been going without her some weekends because she’s been sick so much recently), but she actually did pretty well.  Except for the fact that we had to bust out the pacifier.  I’m sure that’s about the only reason she behaved.  Sigh…

After church, we joined my parents and uncle for dinner at our favorite barbecue restaurant that has live music on Saturday nights.  The kids always love the music and this time they got to sit on the big rocking chair when we left.

We spent Sunday at Brian’s mom and step-dad’s for lunch, and then at my parents’ for dinner.  All in all another wonderful weekend!

Now we’re on the home stretch to Christmas and we have tons of events coming up these next two weeks – Christmas parties at work, Christmas parties in the kids’ classrooms, Jacob’s Christmas program at school, and a baby shower that my mom and I are hosting at my house for my brother and his wife three days before Christmas…

I’m gonna be an aunt on my side of the family, y’all!!!!

Enjoy your Monday!

  2. So clever to take the day off and just get everything done without it having to encroach on your family time over the weekend. Also, the mug coozie is adorable.

  4. Such a fun weekend! The lights look amazing! I can't believe your weather! Although it's been warm here too - in the 50's, which is soooo not normal this time of year, LOL. Oh and I love that navy striped shirt!

  6. The weather on the east coast really has been nuts - almost 60s in December here in Boston, but I'm not complaining at all! Looks like a really fun weekend! xo, Biana

  7. Your patio lights look awesome! I did all my Christmas shopping and wrapping a few weekends ago. It was exhausting but I was so glad to have it all over with and not be constantly running out all month picking up various things! Also, now I want a cinnamon crunch bagel!!!
