Confessions {2.16.2017}

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve participated in the confessions link-up so today… it is on!

I confess…

… that I have been eating aaaallll the Valentine’s goodies this week.  I am usually good about having self control, especially during the day at work, but this week, nope.  I’ve been treating myself.  And if I don’t stop soon, I’m also going to be treating myself to some new pants because my current ones aren’t going to fit anymore.

… that I am really exhausted with Instagram.  One of my goals this year is to hit 5k, so I’ve been working really hard these last few weeks to find my stride and really engage with others.  But you guys, trying to increase your following on Instagram organically is basically like banging your head against a wall.  Remember that Paula Abdul song Opposites Attract?  Yep, it’s just like that… two steps forward and two steps back.  No, make that two steps forward and eight steps back.  Sigh.  I know that you can get lots of followers very quickly by playing the follow/unfollow game, but I just can’t bring myself to do that.  I can, however, bring myself to ask for followers, so if you’re not following me on there already, click here and help a sister out!  I promise I’m really interesting!  Haha.  #NoShame

… that I am also exhausted with Twitter.  #SameShenanigans  #IDontEvenCareIfYouFollowMeOnThere  #OKMaybeALittle

… that I hate Twitter anyway so I’m not that mad about it.  #CanEveryonePleaseJustStopUsingIt

… that I have just not been motivated to do a lot of things ever since January and February hit.  I have a serious case of the post-Christmas “mehs”, and I’m just ready for them to pass.  I don’t like feeling like I’m only operating at 80%... because usually I operate at least 110%!

… that Brian and I put the kids to bed a few minutes early on Valentine’s night because they were both acting flipping crazy from too many sweets.  Class parties with cookies and at-home parties with cupcakes and candy on the same day do not a happy ending make.

… that last night I went to a movie with my mom and I was totally stoked about not having to be there for the kids’ bedtime routine.  I used to hate missing it because it was always my favorite time of the day getting to snuggle each of them, but now with Olivia’s bedtime antics, I’m happy to check out occasionally.

… that I secretly love when Olivia comes and gets in the bed with us at night… as long as we’ve already actually gone to bed, though.  Several nights last week she tried to come in there when we were still awake.  Sigh.

… that I’m really dreading getting rid of Olivia’s paci.  I just know it’s going to be awful, but also, that was the point at which Jacob seemed to grow up instantly.  No more baby.  :o(

… that I took one bite of a breakfast bar that someone gave me at work this week and I threw the rest of it straight in the trash.  I hate wasting food, but you guys, it was just awful.  #BorderlineGagworthy.

… that I want all the spring things!  This cold shoulder tie sleeve top, this cold shoulder bell sleeve top, this off shoulder swing top, this dress, and these heels… I’ll take one of each, please!

… that I wish I could take one month off from work (or heck, just quit altogether!) just so I could clean out every single inch of our house at the same time.  The bad part about cleaning out whenever I have the chance is that I can’t ever just have the entire house clean at once.  What good is it to have a cleaned out, sparkly kitchen when your living room that’s right next door is a disaster?  #OCD

… that I am feeling completely overwhelmed by clutter lately, and while last year I was able to eliminate a ton of it, I just can’t seem to stay on top of it because it accumulates too quickly when you have kids.

… that the older I get, the more of a minimalist I become.  #FutureTinyHouseOwner  #JustKiddingILikeToHaveMyStuff

… that the older Beyonce gets, the less and less I like her.  I mean, what the heck was that Grammy’s performance??  And why did the Grammy’s people even give her that much time?!?!  I didn’t think it was ever going to end.  #JustPutEdSheeranBackOn #AndBringBackDestinysChildWhileYoureAtIt

Happy Thursday!

  1. I totally agree about Beyonce. My husband and I kept wondering when her song would end...so dramatic! I look at Twitter, but mainly to see news stories. I don't know how many people use it socially anymore. Instagram seems to be the big thing now. I follow you on both, so good luck! have a happy Thursday!

  2. So fun you got to go see a movie with your mom - which one?! I agree about Beyonce's performance. We were totally confused by it, just couldn't figure out the meaning. So then I go online to get some clarity and everyone says they love it...but no one explained it, haha! I am also OCD about things being clean at the same time. I wouldn't mind a good chunk of time off from work to do that, too!!

  3. Your last confession made me laugh. I totally agree. I didn't understand it at all and didn't feel like it was even a song. Blah! Bruno Mars was amazing though. I have been the same way with post-Christmas letdown. It just sucks and our yo-yo weather hasn't helped. Ugh! I also hate twitter. I don't really get it and don't care. IG is my fav, but I agree that getting new followers can be difficult.

  4. I refused to watch the Grammys this year but I will need to look up Beyonce's performance so I can see what everyone was talking about! and I'm ready for summer to get here so I can be off of work--I have too much to do!

  5. I read one mom say that she thought the paci going would be terrible, but it totally wasn't. I'll be praying the same thing for you!

So IG is impossible now days. If you want any kind of growth at all you almost have to play some sort of game. Yup, I said it. What I don't understand is how does one photo get 300+ likes and the next one struggles to hit 100? Complaints about likes are all over the web and it is ticking people off.

  6. Ugh the Beyoncé Grammys thing was awful. I have no words! How fun to see a movie w your mama. I agree ab bedtime. I love going out and not having to do it haha. Growing IG followers is such a game and I hate it. I'm trying to grow too and I keep gaining and losing 5-10 so my number won't increase! But I'm
Not all about that follow/unfollow game! Nope. No! Happy Thursday!

  7. Too funny about Beyoncé . I didn't watch her Grammy performance but it seems that she is way too into herself lately. I mean seriously what was up with her pregnancy announcement. That's just weird That she tried to make herself look like some holy Virgin Mary- she's not. How self important. Maybe I just didn't get it She definitely seemed less self important when she was part of destiny child

    1. Yeah, it was SO weird. That was the part that made me not like it... the whole Virgin Mary thing was just not OK. She obviously thinks she's more important than she actually is!

  9. I also want all the Spring things! It's bad! Haha bedtime is usually such a crazy time around here that when I miss it I'm totally OK with it. What movie did you see? P.S. I can't stand Beyonce :)

  10. I just keep hoping that all my spring window shopping will usher spring in early :) I don't know if it is working. And I am OVER Beyonce. I need to get better about my social media and maybe even add it to my blog...I am wanting to get my own domain and do a couple of other things to it, but the time...And twitter, I don't even have an account. Your followers will come. Have a great day!

    1. Thanks, Jenna! Yep, it's a ton of work running a blog, isn't it? Thank goodness it's all work that I love (aside from the Insta frustrations) or else I wouldn't be doing it!

  11. The instagram follower game is killlllling me. Ugh.

  12. Your hashtags are KILLING ME! I am cracking up!!
What is it about this year????I can't seem to keep up with the clutter either and DO NOT feel like I'm operating 110% either! You would think it would be the "winter blues" but my goodness the weather has been like spring most of the time!!
But I'm with you! I need to SNAP OUT OF IT!!
I'm with you on the IG followers...drives me crazy!

  13. GIRL...I seriously was trying to find a way to start working only 11 months a year...NOT so I could stay home with my kids but so I could get all the clutter out of my house, paint my house, get the damn house finally FINISHED after 13 years!! And Instagram..I feel ya! I use an app that tracks when people follow and unfollow and I'm always amazed at the people who are obviously following me just to get me to follow back!! Hey...follow me if you want but if your IG doesn't look like something I'm interested in I'm not following you back. So frustrating!

  14. This is the second time I've said this to you in a week, but DITTO ON INSTAGRAM. Also, I have a Twitter account that I never use and I'm just calling it quits. I have too much to manage and I don't even enjoy it!

  15. Ha, I know what you mean about the sweets. I bought those creme brulees from Target and I've had four of them in the past month. LOL. Oops! So good though, and it is a time for sweets!

  16. Um so my goal thanks to your inspiration was to double my following which is not much and oh my word I am over it - seriously I have been so discouraged all week! Thanks for your words, I feel better that I am not alone banging me head against a wall!!!!!

  17. I totally agree with you. I use to like Beyonce but lately I am not a fan. As for Instagram I am just happy when I get 30 likes HAHA! I wish I had 1/5 of your following. I love your pics on instagram :)

  18. Thank you for linking up with me. I am sooo over IG and the follow/un-follow game. I had a big IGer follow me only to unfollow me 2 days later. And I was already following her. Ugh. So annoying. I am over winter as well. Bring on Spring. Beyonce annoyed me when she announced she was having twins because she will have so much help that it is "easy" and make twin moms look bad. Ugh. Plus she needs to grow up a LOT.

  19. O. M. G.... yes about Instagram! I run into the same thing, but girl, you are rocking it! I think you'll hit 5k waaaayy before the end of the year!

  20. I feel like Beyonce must have fell and hit her head because girlfriend is all kinds of confused, maybe a bit cray, too.

  21. I love these types of posts and all of your light-hearted honesty. It's refreshing! I gave up the rat race on IG a looooooong time ago. If blogging and social media isn't a joy to me, I just refuse to do it. Ha!

  22. I am right there with you on wishing I could clean the ENTIRE house at once... and that it would stay clean for more than 5 fricking seconds! You said it with the clutter, feels impossible to keep up with kids. The toys must be breeding when we're all asleep, I swear!

    1. Hahahaha. I think you're right!! I mean, WHERE does it all come from?!

  23. I agree. Twitter is meh and Instagram seems to be so slow lately. I don't want fake followers and it seems like the spam is out of control. Hoping for some instagram updates or changes this year that benefit me :)
