Five on Friday - Favorite Fall Tops, Two Field Trips, and Quarterly Awards

Hello, Friday!  For the first day in weeks I have an entire day with nothing planned – no appointments, no field trips, no conferences or meetings or errands to run.  So.  I plan on checking a few things off of the ol’ Master To Do list today.  I’m going to try to remember to post some on Instagram Stories, so you can follow along with me there.

Now I have a very picture-heavy post for you today so let’s get started!

O N E – Halloween Sweatshirt

The kids love it when I get festive for the holidays so I decided I would dress up a little for Halloween this year.  I’m not going in costume, but I bought this pumpkin sweatshirt from Amazon and they love it.  I typically wear a small in tops, but I sized up to a medium and it is the perfect length to wear with leggings!  Woo hoo!  Look how cute!  And only $17.99!  It appears that it’s getting close to being sold out, but Amazon has so many other options as well like this onethis one, this one.  All qualify for Prime and can be at your doorstep by Halloween!  :o)  And I was going to take a picture of myself in it with the leggings and boots, but sadly, I didn't think about it until it was dark outside and the lighting in our house is terrible.  So here's the stock photo.  I'll try to remember to take a picture with it on in my IG Stories tomorrow!

T W O – The Cutest Fall Tee

We still have about a month left of all things fall before I officially make the switch to Christmas mode, so I’m going to be wearing this tee on repeat.  It’s another Amazon special, and it was only $17.99.  It’s very well made and I love the fit.  It’s really soft and it’s pretty long and I like that the sleeves are a little more fitted than traditional t-shirts.  It’s not quite long enough for leggings, but you could easily wear a long tank under it and pair it with leggings that way.  And the color is perfection for fall.

T H R E E – First Field Trip with Olivia

Last Thursday I got to take my girl on her very first field trip at her new school, and it was also my first time accompanying her on any field trip!  We went to a place called Backyard Orchards in Eufala, AL.  They have a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, cotton fields, hay rides, and so much other fun stuff to do.  It was quite a drive from where we live, and the kids rode the bus while the parents followed behind in our own cars.  We arrived bright and early and after a quick bathroom break for the little ones, the teachers split everyone into groups.  We had so many parent volunteers there that day that each parent only had to be responsible for two or three kids.

I was in charge of the two Olivias in the class – my Olivia and another little girl in her class, Olivia J.  The other little girl, Olivia, who was in our group was just as sweet as could be and we had the best day riding the cow train, playing on the bouncy houses, playing on the tire swings, climbing the obstacle courses, playing in the corn bin, going on a hay ride, picking out pumpkins, and playing in the cotton bin.  The weather was cool and crisp in the morning and warm in the afternoon, and the sky was so blue!  We had a picnic lunch outside and it could not have been a more perfect day.

The teachers let all of the parents take their own kids home at the end of the field trip because it was so close to the end of the school day, so I loaded Olivia up in my car and she was out like a light within 15 minutes.  Bless.

F O U R – Field Trip with Jacob

In addition to going with Olivia to the pumpkin patch, I also got to accompany Jacob on his field trip last Friday!  His class went to a play at our local theater followed by a picnic lunch in the park and some playground time.  Parents weren’t able to go to this play because the theater only had enough spots for students and teachers, but I was able to meet them at the park, have lunch with him, and hang out for a while.

He’s in second grade now so I don’t know how much longer he’ll want his momma around for stuff like this, but I’m going to hang on to every little moment until then!  Seeing his little face light up when he sees me at his school events just makes me feel so good!

F I V E – Awards Ceremony for  Jacob

Right after Jacob’s field trip on Friday we went straight back to the school for the first quarter awards ceremony.  Jacob racked up on awards as he always does!  He brought home:

Principal’s List Award
Religion Award
AR Goal Award
All Day Every Day Award
Top 5 AR in his class Award

He just continues to amaze us and we are so proud of him!

S I X – Awards Ceremony for Olivia

Earlier this week Olivia had her very first awards ceremony, too!  Since she’s in Pre-K4, they don’t get real grades yet, so they only have the opportunity to receive the religion award, and she received hers!  Woo hoo!

My parents were able to attend her awards ceremony (they had missed Jacob’s because they were out of town at my brother and SIL’s house) since it was her first one, and she was hamming it up the entire time we were there.  We were sitting behind her, and she kept turning around and grinning at us from ear to ear.  My dad kept making funny faces at her and cracking her up and it was just the cutest thing.  She is a piece of work, y’all.  She really is.

So many school activities and so much goodness this past week, y’all!  If I was still working I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to attend most of it.  When I worked it was always such a nightmare when we had a bunch of school events in the same week because there wasn’t enough time in the week for me to make up my time away from work.  I’m so, so incredibly thankful to be able to do these things and not have to stress anymore about missing something important.  Our sweet little babies will be in college in the blink of an eye and I’m just grateful that I can be here for every moment until then!

So thankful, grateful, and blessed.

Happy weekend, y’all!

    1. Yes it is! This is Olivia's first year there and while we know several of the moms of the kids in her class already, there are still lots that I need to meet! I was able to meet several new ones on the field trip and it was so nice!
