Prayers for the Gulf

I’m typing this post late in the morning on Wednesday, just as Hurricane Michael is making its way ashore in one of our favorite places, Panama City Beach, FL.

Panama City Beach and the 30A area has been our family’s vacation destination for years upon years… it’s like a second home to us and it’s a place where we have made countless memories.  It was the very first place that we ever traveled to as a family of three, when Jacob was just nine months old, so it holds a very special place in my heart.

From the quaint little beachside shops and restaurants of 30A to the hustle and bustle of Pier Park in Panama City, that entire area is our very own little slice of heaven, and we are praying so hard today that it is spared.

In addition to all of the memories we’ve made there, we also have many friends and family members who love it so much that they have made it their home.

By the time you’re reading this, it’s likely that the worst is over in Florida, but we’ll be right in the middle of it here in Georgia.  Our city is going to take a direct hit, so we would appreciate your prayers for us as well.  Fortunately, we should be far enough inland where we won’t have to worry about an all-out catastrophe like the state of Florida, but we do have to worry about damaging winds, flooding, and possible tornadoes.

Those of you who know me know how I feel about this kind of weather, so you know that we are taking every precaution to stay safe.  Schools closed early here on Wednesday and school is also canceled for Thursday as well, so we can, thankfully, stay home.

So anyway, if you’re the praying kind, please keep us and everyone else in Michael’s path in yours.

And before I go, a few pictures through the years...
