This gift guide for kids ages 4-12 is totally in my wheelhouse since we have a nine-year old boy and a six-year old girl.  I had so much fun scouring Amazon for these items, and I even found a few items for our kiddos along the way.  Without further ado, my 2020 gift guide for boys and girls ages 4-12…

For the Girls

1 – Big Life Journal

Big Life Journal is a guided journal for kids that helps them develop a growth mindset at an early age.  Through guided activities, stories, and illustrations, it teaches kids how to build self-esteem, how to persevere through difficult situations, and most importantly, it teaches them the power of positive thinking.  This is the absolute perfect gift for any kid on your list, and there is also a version available for teens and tweens.

*A special thanks to Big Life Journal for sponsoring this portion of my gift guide.  I can’t wait to work on this with Jacob!*

2 – Kwik Stix

Y’all, these Kwik Stix are the coolest things!!  As a mom of a little girl who paints all. the. time. I am so so excited about these!

From Kwik Stix – Something colorful has arrived!  Kwik Stix have gotten a line expansion, and it’s bright!  We are so excited to announce the Kwik Stix 30 pack which includes 10 ALL BRAND NEW colors – not featured in any current packs!  The same quick drying formula you love in all new colors.  Just like the Kwik Stix you know and love simply uncap, twist, and paint!  Kwik Stix have a fast-drying formula that allows them to dry in 90 seconds while still leaving a paint-like finish!  Kwik Stix take the endless mess out of painting and leave all the fun.  No cups, smocks, water, or brushes required.  Works great on posters, paper, canvas, wood, and more!

*A special thanks to Kwik Stix for sponsoring this portion of my gift guide.  Jacob and Olivia are both going to love these.*

3 – Paint by Sticker Unicorns and Magic

These paint by sticker books will keep your kids busy for hours!  Similar to the traditional paint by number books, this one allows your kids to “paint” by sticker instead, which means less mess!  Olivia has one of these and she loves it.  Since there’s no mess and it’s easy to transport, it’s the perfect thing to take on road trips!

4 – Bluetooth Karaoke Microphone

This microphone connects to any phone or tablet’s Bluetooth to allow your kiddo (or you – haha) to sing to their favorite songs.  They can choose to sing along with the artist, or turn the artist’s voice down to let their own voice shine.  It also has a fun echo effect.

5 – Picasso Tiles

These magnetic tiles can be used to build and create anything your child’s heart desires.  They are perfect for girls or boys, but I have them on my gift guide for girls because they are a favorite of Olivia’s.  <3

6 – Kid-Safe Knife Set

This set of knives can really be used to chop fruits and veggies, and a plethora of other kitchen items, but they are totally safe for kids to use.  If you have a kiddo who loves to help out in the kitchen, you can put them to work without worrying about them getting hurt.

7 – Floor Lounger Pillow Cover

This lounger cover has five pockets that you fill with pillows to create a cushiony place for your kiddo to lounge or sleep.  Since the pillows are added separately, the lounger stores easily in a drawer, and then when you want to use it, you just stuff a pillow into each pocket… seriously the coolest thing ever!  And perfect for sleepovers.  It comes in lots of different colors and patterns, so there's something for every kid on your list.

8 – Disney Princess Dress-Up Trunk

This 21-piece set is an Amazon exclusive and it includes everything your little girl needs to dress up like Belle, Cinderella, Aurora, and Snow White.  It includes 4 tops, 3 skirts, jewelry, tiaras, headbands, and stickers.  It’s a highly rated item with over 6K reviews and 4.4 out of 5 stars.

9 – Best 100 Movies for Kids Scratch-Off Poster

I told y’all I’d be including these posters in nearly every gift guide!  This scratch-off poster contains 100 of the best movies for kids, and your little ones can scratch them off after they have watched them.  What a fun thing to do as a family… perfect for these quarantine times!

10 – Vinyl Sticker Set

This set of 50 stickers is the perfect stocking stuffer for your tween.  All stickers are vinyl, and they are 2-3.5 inches, which is the perfect size for water bottles, laptops, binders, and folders.  They are waterproof, and they peel away from any smooth surface without leaving residue, so you can change them out as often as you like.  With over 400 ratings and 4.6 out of 5 stars, these are a great deal… only $4.19 for the set of 50!

11 – Tent with Light-up Stars

What kid doesn’t love to have their own fort?  This tent is so fun, and the light-up stars add an extra touch of magic.  With 2,700 reviews and 4.5 out of 5 stars, this one looks like a winner!  And it's only $33.99 which seems like a really great deal for something so substantial!

12 – Disney Princess Dolls

This set of Disney princess dolls is perfect for any princess-loving girl.  These are the Barbie-sized dolls, so they can be used with Barbie accessories.  Olivia has had this set for years, and she still plays with them.

13 – Makeup Kit

If your little one is anything like my little one, then she loves to wear makeup.  This little set includes lip colors, eye shadows, nail polishes, blush, and brushes, all in a cute little carrying case.  It’s non-toxic and washable, and it’s a # 1 best seller on Amazon with 9,500 reviews and 4.5 out of 5 stars.

14 – Disney Princess Pop-up Palace

This sweet little palace is the perfect doll house for your little girl’s Disney princesses.  It's two feet tall and there are five rooms – Aurora’s kitchen, Ariel’s bathroom, Cinderella’s foyer, and Belle’s dining room, as well as a lounge area.  It fits the Barbie size princess dolls (listed above) and it also includes 13 Disney princess-inspired accessories.

For the Boys…

1 – Big Life Journal

I included the Big Life Journal in both sections of this post, because they are a wonderful tool for girls and boys alike.  In case you skipped over the section for girls above, Big Life Journal is a guided journal for kids that helps them develop a growth mindset at an early age.  Through guided activities, stories, and illustrations, it teaches kids how to build self-esteem, how to persevere through difficult situations, and most importantly, it teaches them the power of positive thinking.  This is perfect for any girl or boy on your list, and there is also a version available for teens and tweens.

*A special thanks to Big Life Journal for sponsoring this portion of my gift guide.  I can’t wait to give Jacob his copy!*

2 – Kwik Stix

In case you skipped straight to the boy portion of the post, I wanted to include these Kwik Stix again as they are awesome gifts for everyone!

3 – Paint by Sticker

Here’s another Paint by Sticker book that any kid would love...  this one features zoo animals!

4 – Star Projector

The star projector that Jacob has had since he was a baby bit the dust a couple of months ago, so Brian bought this one for him, and he likes it even better.  It has multiple color options as well as a “twinkle” option, and it makes for a perfect nightlight.

5 – Voice Changer

This voice changer features 10 different voice modifiers, and it also has levers on the side that can adjust the frequency and amplitude for each one, meaning that there are hundreds of different sound combos.  Our kids have had one of these for years and they still play with it constantly.  Do they love it?  Yes.  Does it annoy the stew out of me?  Also yes.  Lol.

6 – Hover Soccer Ball

This soccer ball hovers on a cushion of air and can be easily pushed back-and-forth with your child’s foot… perfect for indoor play on a rainy day!

7 – Crystal Growing Kit

This kit allows your kiddos to grown their own crystals at home… perfect for any little scientists in your house.  :o)

8 – 100 Kids Activities Scratch-off Poster

Here's another fun bucket list poster that your kids can make their way through.  This is the perfect gift to give now, especially, with so many people still staying at home in quarantine.  It would also be a great thing to work through during the summertime when the kids are out of school.  I may just have to buy one of these for summer 2021 if we’re still stuck at home!

9 – Lego Baby Yoda

EEK!  Lego has come out with a Baby Yoda Lego set, y’all!  We all knew it was just a matter of time!  This set is 1,073 pieces, and I’m sure it’ll eventually be on Jacob’s wish list.  Just look how cute!

10 – Snap Circuits

My parents gave one of these Snap Circuits sets to Jacob a few years ago and he has played with it ever since.  This set allows your kids to construct working models of electric circuits.  It may sound crazy and complicated, but it comes with step-by-step instructions, so your kids can do it by themselves.  This one has nearly 8K reviews and 4.8 out of 5 stars, so it’s another winner!  We love toys that are also educational!

11 – 5,000 Awesome Facts

Jacob has had this book for years and I think he’s read it cover-to-cover several times.  He’s constantly spouting random facts about anything and everything, and every time I ask him where he learned said facts, he always says, “my 5,000 Awesome Facts book.”  Haha.  It’s the perfect gift for any kid who loves to learn about anything and everything.  There’s some super cool stuff in there.  ;o)

12 – 2021 Guinness World Records Book

Jacob also loves any copy of the Guinness World Records books that he can get his hands on… and they now contain loads and loads of pictures unlike the versions from when I was young!  Our kids love to read this and try to find records that they can break.  Spoiler alert, they haven’t broken any yet.  Lol.

13 – Gravity Maze

My parents gave this game to Jacob for his birthday and he absolutely loves it.  It’s a single player logic game and marble run, and it comes with multi-level challenges.  Some of them are SO hard, y’all.  This STEM toy is the perfect gift for any boy or girl, ages 8+.  With nearly 10K reviews and 4.6 out of 5 stars, it’s another Amazon best seller.

And that wraps it up, y’all!  Stay tuned for my last gift guide on Wednesday… that one will be for the teenagers… we all know how hard they are to buy for!

  12. Your gift guides actually appealed to me. Being a School Counselor, I saw many items I could use around school and with my students. The Kwik Stix, I would love for myself! :)
