Five on Friday - What Do You Meme Family, Stanley Cup Carrier, and the Cutest Luau Pineapple Cups

Happy Friday, y’all!  We made it to the finish line, and as of yesterday at noon we are officially on SUMMER BREAK!!!!  Can you tell I’m excited?!  The last few weeks have been oh-so-wonderful, but overwhelming, and I’m so happy to finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Today I’m sharing a few favorite things from the last couple of weeks, several of which are perfect for summertime!

O N E – What Do You Meme? Family

Olivia purchased this game with her own money recently, and although we’ve only had the chance to play it a couple of times (because – so BUSY), it is so much fun!  It’s VERY easy to play and it is absolutely hilarious.  Gameplay is very similar to Apples to Apples, so many people can play at once (you need at least three, but it’s more fun the more people you have), and it can be as quick or as long as you’d like depending on how many rounds you’d like to do.

This game has had our family in stitches – it is laugh out loud funny – and it is such a great game to have on hand for summer break!

There is also an adult version (which I’m sure is even funnier) that would make for the perfect game for a game night with friends.  I think I may buy it to play with our poker night group!

T W O – New Family Members

Speaking of What Do You Meme?, Jacob and Olivia thought it would be hilarious last week to add a few new family members to our home…

Y’all.

They took all of the memes from the game and placed them in all of the picture frames around the house.  When I realized what they were doing, I couldn’t stop laughing.  And we left them up waaaayyyy too long.  Haha.

T H R E E – Stanley Cup Carrier

Olivia’s friend at school has one of these Stanley Cup carriers, and Olivia thought it was the coolest thing, so she asked if she could buy one with her own money.  We found this one on Amazon (I’ve actually blogged about it before!), and she has been using it ever since then.

If you’re like me, and you carry your water (literally) everywhere with you, this bag is pretty genius.  It holds your Stanley Cup (there’s a 30 oz. version and a 40 oz. version), and it has a pocket for your cell phone, a pocket for your ID/credit cards/money, and a hook to hang your keys.

It comes with an adjustable, removeable strap, and the strap has a pad that rests on your shoulder for maximum comfort.  This thing is perfect for all of those summer walks, hikes, and bike rides because it holds all of the essentials (including water!) and leaves you completely hands-free!

F O U R – Plastic Pineapple Cups

I purchased 80 of these cups for our end-of-the-year 7th/8th grade dance that I chaired last week.  Our seventh graders always put on the dance as a goodbye to the eighth graders since they’ll be moving on to high school, so it’s customary for the seventh graders to give the eighth graders a little gift.

We chose these cups as the gift, and they couldn’t be cuter.  They’re surprisingly well-made – the pineapple stem is pretty impressive – and they are extremely affordable.  They come in various bulk quantities ranging from 12-80 depending on how many you need, and they are perfect for any luau themed parties this summer.

I will say this – assembly was a bit difficult at first as Brian and I couldn’t figure out how to get the green stems on the tops of the pineapples, but once we figured out the trick (to squish the base of the stem and then twist it into place) it was smooth-sailing.  It does take some elbow grease, though, so just know that.

Personally, I think it was worth it for the price and quality!

F I V E – Summa Summa Summa Time

And finally, my very favorite from the week is that today is the first full official day of summer break!  I had planned on doing NOTHING productive all day, but I'm so behind on life and blog stuff after these busy weeks, that I'm going to have to take some time to play catchup.  I'm hoping to squeeze in some leisure time, too, though.

I’m thinking today we’ll be sleeping in, then I’ll enjoy my hot tea while catching up on some blog reading (I’m soooo behind, blog friends, but I miss and love all of you, and I’m excited to catch up on your lives!), I’ll take extra time to do my Bible study, then maybe I’ll do a little bit of reading in the sunshine (weather permitting), hang out with the kids for a bit, and try to work in some productive things in between all of that.

Then we have poker night with friends tonight, so that’ll be a fun way to kick off the break!

Next week I’ll be getting back in full planning/productive mode because I only have one week to buy and pack everything we need for our beach trip!  EEK!

  3. I like the Stanley carrier and put one in my cart to order for my daughter. She was traveling this week and had just a small purse, but wanted to bring the cup with her to the beach. This would have been perfect. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
