Mother's Day Weekend

Happy Monday!  I hope your weekend was as sweet as ours was!

We kicked off the celebrations Thursday at Jacob’s school where they hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast for us.  The kids made the sweetest vases – painted mason jars stamped with their handprints, wrapped in ribbon, and topped with a flower.  I think that this may be my favorite gift that Jacob has ever made for me.  It will sit in my office for years to come!

Thursday was also Cinco de Mayo, so we whipped up some chicken enchiladas and made a batch of margaritas to enjoy on the back porch.  And while this has nothing to do with Cinco de Mayo or Mother’s Day, Olivia came home from school with her first topknot and may have just been the cutest thing I’ve ever seen so of course it had to be documented here on the blog.  :o)

Friday was Muffins with Mom at Olivia’s school.  She made a sweet little vase full of handprint flowers for me.  My office is going to be so cheerful!

Friday evening after work, we took the kiddos out for pizza and then downtown for our city’s annual festival on the river – live music, food trucks, carnival rides, dragon boat races… all kinds of good stuff.  The weather could not have been more perfect… sunny and warm with a nice breeze blowing in off of the river.  It was one of those evenings where you could wear long sleeves or short sleeves and be comfortable in either.  We spread a blanket in the grass and kicked back to relax and enjoy the music.  Some friends and eventually my parents joined us and we all enjoyed the evening chatting, listening to music, and watching the kids play.  Once we got home, B and I caught up on some shows and dug into the cookie cake he had gotten me for Mother's Day.  Never gets old!

Saturday we – well, the kids and I, anyway – were lazy all day.  The kids and I stayed inside, played, colored, and cleaned the playroom while B cut the grass.  While they napped after lunch, I laid out in the sun and read some more of my book, which is getting really good, by the way.  Then Saturday evening we went to church followed by Mex with my parents, and on the way home we swung by DQ to grab some Blizzards to enjoy on the back porch.

Sunday we spent the afternoon celebrating Mother’s Day with Brian’s mom.  We had a big lunch, and afterward we spread a big blanket out in the yard under the shade of some trees, and the kids played with blocks while the adults chatted.  I was able to get a few pictures with my babies, but it pretty much took an act of congress and wading through 200+ pictures to find one good one.  Haha.  #ThatMomLife

Sunday evening we celebrated Mother’s Day with my momma and my grandmother at my parents’ house – we had good food, good wine, good dessert, and more good times with the people who I’m so fortunate to call family.  I am so blessed to have such amazing and strong women in my life to help me on my own journey through motherhood, and I would be completely lost without them.

I hope you all have a beautiful week!
