Lindsay’s Sweet World is Eleven!

Eleven years ago on March 7, I published my very first blog post, and here we are, 2,344 posts later, and I’m still heeeere!

It’s been quite a journey these past eleven years – I’ve shared our lives in great detail (while also leaving out the parts that I want to keep private), I’ve shared recipes, I’ve shared fashion and product recommendations and organization ideas and home décor.  I’ve shared the good parts of life and the bad parts of life and (most) everything in between, and after all these years, I still enjoy coming here each day to my little corner of the internet to create.

After eleven years of blog anniversary posts, there’s really not much else to add, so instead, I’ll just say a great big THANK YOU to those of you who have supported me through the years.  Your presence here, your kind comments, your emails, your advice, and your encouragement really means a lot to me, and I’m always grateful that so many of you take the time out of your day to be here.

This blog helps support our family, so every blog pageview, every purchase made through my links, every share on social media, and every like or comment is one step in the right direction for my small business.

And even though nothing has changed from last year, I thought I would share my top three most-viewed posts of all-time here again in case you missed them.  All three of these posts still drive traffic to my blog daily, which is hard to believe since one of them is the first post I ever wrote…

Quick Weekend Overview + See You Tomorrow!

Hi friends, just wanted to pop in and let y’all know that I’m taking the day off today since it’s a holiday.  We have had the best weekend watching all the college football, decorating the house for fall, diffusing our beloved Cinnamon and Pumpkin Spice oils, and eating all the pumpkin donuts.  Needless to say, we are fully immersed in all things FALL and we are so excited that September is here!  The only thing missing is Jacob as he’s been away on a retreat for the long weekend.

So anyway, I plan to spend some one-on-one time with Olivia today and then we’ll go grab my Boo this evening when he returns!

I’ll see y’all back here tomorrow with one of my most viewed posts each month… my Amazon purchases post!

Happy Monday, y’all, and HAPPY SEPTEMBER!

Tuesday Things

Well, a post titled Tuesday Things can only mean one thing… I didn’t have time to get my weekly update done for today!  Haha.

But that’s okay.  I’m still trying to get back into the swing of things now that the school year has started, and while I was verrrry on top of things the first week, the second week kicked my BUTT, so I am now on the struggle bus and we’re only two weeks into the school year.  What can ya do?

That said, now that the kids are back in school, it is my goal to start blogging four times per week again, eventually moving to five when things pick up during the holidays.  But if I don’t get around to doing all the posts, I’m not going to beat myself up about it.

This year, my word is PRESENT, and I have definitely been allowing myself to be more in the moment than ever this year.  While that has been such a blessing, it has also made me a little too laid-back in some circumstances, and that has made me a bad blogger at times because I keep forgetting to take pictures to document all the things.  Haha.

Anywayyyy, all that to say, I should be back here tomorrow with last week’s recap!  I’ll see y’all then!  And until then, one of my favorite quotes I've seen on social media this week so far...

Happy Tuesday!

Blogs I Follow

I’ve had a few reader requests in recent months asking me to share the blogs that I read on a daily basis, so boy, do I have a treat for y’all today… there are so many ladies to love!

I’ve been blogging for 10 years now, and I have “met” so many wonderful ladies along the way.  Some of these blogs I have been following for longer than 10 years and some I have just recently discovered.  Also, some of these ladies are blog friends (meaning that we have connected and they also read my blog) and some of them don’t even know I exist.  Hahahaha.  And a couple of these ladies were part of the reason why I decided to start my own blog!

I have read loads of blogs throughout the years, but most have stopped blogging somewhere along the way, so today I will only be sharing active blogs.  To give you some perspective, my blog reading list includes 143 blogs, but only 22 appear to be active now in 2025.  It’s wild how many people have started relying solely on social media and/or have stopped having an online presence altogether.

While I think social media is okay, I don’t really spend much time scrolling… I do pop in to check in with a handful of my favorite accounts each day, but I’d much rather sit down with my cup of hot tea and read blog posts.  So, I’m grateful for those who are still “opening their doors” and sharing their hearts with us via their blogs every day.

Without further ado, here are the active bloggers on my blog reading list.  I’m listing these ladies in alphabetical order by blog name, and I hope today you can find somebody new to love!

Carolina Charm – I have been following Christina since I started my own blog… she shares a good mix of recipes, life hacks, party planning, and family updates, and she takes beautiful photos.  She quit her full-time corporate job a couple of years ago to blog full time, so her blog is very professionally done/aesthetically pleasing, but her blog still has that OG blog kind of feel.  (I have stopped following some blogs over the years because their blogs became too “professional” and they lost all their heart.)

Chez Mireille Fashion Travel Mom – Mireille shares a lot about fashion, travel, and motherhood, and she’s so sweet!  She has been a supporter of my blog for a long time, too, and she lives in Georgia like I do!  One of these days it would be awesome to be able to meet up!

Curly Crafty Mom – Carrie runs a lifestyle blog with a good mix of fashion, favorite things, travel, and everyday life.  She has two kids, a boy and a girl, just like I do, and we have a lot of other things in common, too, so I find her incredibly relatable… we’ve had some good chats in our DMs.  She is also a runner, and she inspires me so much with all of her accomplishments!!

Family and the Lake House – Marie and I found each other at the beginning of our blogging journeys… I think we started our blogs just a few months (weeks??) apart if I remember correctly.  She is one of the people who I clicked with instantly in blog world, and we have watched each other’s babies grow up.  She is the craftiest gal, and I just love seeing all of her projects, especially around the holidays.  I also love her posts about their travels!

Green Fashionista – Kate is another OG blog friend, and she blogs about travel, fashion, and life.  I always love her recaps so I can see what they’ve been up to, because she and her husband and daughter truly have SO MUCH FUN.  They are always up to something – traveling, sight-seeing around their own city, and going to amazing restaurants – and I love to see everything that Kate wears!

Hall Around Texas – Crystal and I have been blog friends for a long time as well, and she is as real as they come.  Her blog centers around her love for Jesus and her love for her family, and she posts about daily life as well as their travels.  She writes beautifully, and she tends to see the good in everything.  She has also recently started sharing some thrifting finds, and I have been eating those up.

Honey We’re Home – Megan is one of the OG bloggers, and her blog is very professionally done as it’s her sole job.  She shares about fashion, health, and home décor to name a few things, but I also love reading her blog because I appreciate her honesty.  She is very down-to-earth and she really seems to be authentic even though she is one of the “big” bloggers.  Fun fact, she shared Olivia’s baby nursery on her blog way back when I first started blogging, and it made my whole year!

Life As Kim – Kim and I connected in recent years, and I absolutely love reading about her life with her fella and her two girls in England.  She is as real as they come, and she still does the OG style of blogging (documenting everyday life, participating in link-ups, sharing random things) which are my absolute FAVORITE things to read.  She is so funny and kind, and I just love to read everything she writes.  She posts every single day including weekends (I think?  Is that right, Kim?) and I admire her dedication… she has been blogging since 2012 and I’m only sad that we didn’t find each other sooner!

Living on Cloud Nine – Andrea and I started our blogs only a few days apart, and we found each other very early on in our blogging journeys, becoming fast friends.  She posts a lot about fashion, home décor, and traveling, and her home is gorgeous.  I’m convinced that she is a magician because her plants and flowers are INSANE.  She is a holiday décor queen, so I especially love all of her holiday home tours.  She is also the queen of Amazon recommendations!

Loverly Grey – My cousin told me about Brittany’s blog years ago because she lives in Athens, GA.  She’s a diehard UGA fan like we are, so naturally, how could I not love her?  Haha.  She is one of those influencing wizards who has turned her business into a full-time multi-million-dollar business.  She has a whole team working for her now (one of whom is my cousin’s girlfriend… she started working there long after I’d started following Brittany, so I fan-girled so hard when she got the job.  Haha.), and she semi-recently added a podcast to her ever-growing brand.  She shares primarily about fashion, and she also spends a lot of time in 30A, which is where we vacation every summer, so I always love following along with her on their adventures there.  She is primarily a social media gal at this point, but I do appreciate that unlike most other influencers, she hasn’t abandoned her blog.

Make Life Marvelous – Ashley is absolutely the sweetest human with the biggest heart, and she always leaves the most genuine and kind comments on my blog.  She blogs about organization and productivity, and y’all know organization is one of my favorite subjects, so I devour every single one of her posts!

Meet the Shaneyfelts – Hey Sarah!!  Sarah and I also started our blogs around the same time, and we found each other really early on in our blogging journeys.  She is another OG blogger who blogs about everyday life and family and her favorite things, and I love following along with her sweet family so much.  I have gotten many a good book recommendation from her, too.  Sarah is one of the few blog friends who turned into a real-life friend when we exchanged phone numbers years ago.  We text every so often, and we even got to meet one time at a Dave Matthews Band concert in Huntsville!

Memphis Bridges – Marylin is yet another blogger who writes about everyday life (my favorite kind of blog!), and she’s so genuine and kind.  She shares not only her highlight reel, but the parts of life that are tough as well.  As you know, if you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, I also share the struggles in life, so I really appreciate it when other bloggers do the same.  Marylin also shares my deep love for music, and I have found new artists/songs to love from reading her blog.

Mix and Match Mama – Well, I think most people who read blogs probably read Shay’s blog (I feel like she is the OG blogger), but in case you’re one of the few who don’t, here’s a little bit about her.  She has to be one of the hardest working people I follow.  She posts not just one, but two posts on her blog every single day (one regular and one recipe), she owns her own travel agency, she has four very busy kids in tons of activities, and somehow, she still makes time to travel all over the world, read all the books, cook all the meals, and watch all the things.  I feel like she secretly has more hours in a day than the rest of us do.  Haha.  She posts about literally everything – everyday life, book reviews, fashion, home décor, organization, travel, and health, and I think at least 25% of the recipes that are in my regular rotation are from her website and/or recipe books.  I started reading her blog before I ever had my own and she was one of the main bloggers who inspired me to start my own.

Momfessionals – Andrea is one of Shay’s real-life friends (they live in the same city) and I found her a while after I found Shay.  She also posts about everything – everyday life, teacher life, book reviews, crafty things, travel, and recipes – and it’s been so sweet watching her family grow… one of her sons is Jacob’s age, and her daughter is only one year ahead of Olivia, so we are in similar phases of life.

My Glittery Heart – Heather is another one of my blog friends turned real life friends.  She lives in Georgia like me, and although we’ve never been able to meet up (yet!!), we do text every now and then.  She posts about everyday life (are you seeing a theme here?!  They are seriously my favorite kinds of posts!), favorite things, home décor, Amazon finds, fashion, etc., and she shares her bar cart dressed up for the holidays and seasons.  She also runs an Etsy shop, and I love to see all of the items she creates!

Not In Jersey – Dara is my book guru!!  I have gotten probably 90% of my book recommendations from her because she reads SO MUCH.  She has a beautiful family that she posts about frequently, and she also posts about travel and everyday life.  She dog sits, too, and I just love following along and seeing all her new babies.  She and I have been blog friends for a loooong time – pretty much since I started 10 years ago, I think?? – and I love following along with her.  Hiiii, Dara!!

Slices of Life – Joanne is the craftiest lady on this list, I think!!  She makes handmade cards, and she still does the old-school style of scrapbooking with paper and photos, and I adore seeing every single page that she does since I used to scrapbook myself.  She reads a ton and shares tons of book reviews, and she also shares about fashion, recipes, travel, photography, and her family.  She is someone who seems genuinely happy, she cooks so many delicious homemade meals, and the amount of stuff she accomplishes amazes me!

Southern Curls & Pearls – I’m sure many of you follow Caitlin on social media, and maybe you still read her blog, too?  She is another influencer who has turned her business into a money-making machine, and I love following along with her and her beautiful family.  She primarily posts about fashion (the reason I started following her), but she also shares home décor, travel, and family time as well.  She and her husband just built a brand-new house that is seriously drool-worthy, and she has been one of my favorites to follow long before I started my own blog.  Ever heard of the “Christian Girl Autumn” meme?  That’s her in the original meme, and I love how she has leaned into that over the years.  Lol.  She was another blogger who inspired me to start my own, and although she’s primarily a social media girl now, I’m so glad she hasn’t completely abandoned her blog.

Sunny Side Up – Erin is another professional blogger who I’ve followed for years, and she shares loads of organization products and tips and home décor… and her home is stunning.  Her organization skills, though… that’s what keeps me coming back for more.  It is next-level, professional-grade organizing.  I do love that she throws in real life updates as well!

The Other Side of the Road – Tanya and I have been blog friends for years, and I love everything about her!  She shares recipes, book recommendations, travel, products she loves, and lots of posts about everyday life… my favorite part of her blog.  I’ve watched her two sweet kiddos grow into independent, thriving, wonderful young adults, and watching her navigate that stage of life always leaves me feeling hopeful for the future when it will be my turn to navigate being an empty nester.

The Queen in Between – Shelly is another longtime blog friend, and I’ve always loved reading about her sweet family and their adventures.  In addition to sharing about her family, she shares about fashion, home décor, book recommendations, and so much more.  Shelly always puts her heart and soul into her writing, and I have always appreciated her authenticity and her honesty.

Each of these ladies has inspired me in more ways than one, and I love nothing more than to grab a hot cup of tea, snuggle up in my blanket, and catch up on their lives every week.  The blogging community is truly a unique group, and I’m so blessed to be a part of it.

And hopefully I’m not forgetting anyone!  Going through 143 blogs, most of which are now inactive, took some time, and I’m hoping I didn’t inadvertently miss anyone!  Blog friends, if I missed you, please let me know so I can add you!

Now I’d love to hear from you… who are some of your favorite bloggers?  I’d love to add some new ones to my list!

Happy Monday, y'all!

Blog Housekeeping Notes

Hey, y’all, happy Tuesday!  I know most of you come here on Tuesdays for a weekly recap, but today, I have some blog housekeeping notes instead.

Many of you who have followed for a long time know by now that I reduce my blog posts from four per week to just three per week (most weeks) during the kids’ summer break.  I like to be able to enjoy spending time with them and I don’t want to be chained to my computer all summer.

With that said, I’ll be doing the same thing this summer starting next week!  My weekly recaps are, by far, my most popular posts, so I wanted to make sure that y’all know that you will be getting those on Wednesdays rather than Tuesdays.  Once the kids go back to school in August, I will resume posting four times a week, and the weekly recaps will move back to Tuesdays.

There may be a few weeks during the summer where I do post four times per week as there are going to be some extra recaps such as beach recaps and birthday posts for Jacob, but most weeks, I’ll be here in this space Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

If you haven’t been reading for the full ten years that I’ve been here, you can always go back and read old posts, too!  These can be accessed easily from any desktop computer or tablet in the sidebar.  They’re organized by year and month.

The sidebar doesn’t show up in the mobile version of my blog, but you can scroll all the way to the bottom of the mobile version and click “view web version” if you want to see the desktop version on your phone.

And if you’re looking for something specific like a travel recap, a concert post, a recipe, or a decoration or craft post, these can all be found easily in the category links just below my header.  Those show on the desktop version here:

And the mobile version below:

I also have a gazillion labels if you're looking for other topics besides the main ones in the categories under the header.  You just have to scroll all the way to the bottom of my blog (in desktop view) and the labels are there.  As you can see there are a ton of them and it shows how many posts there are for each label.

I’ll be back here tomorrow with last week’s recap, and it’s a super-sized one as it was Olivia’s recital weekend!

Have a great Tuesday, y’all!

Lindsay’s Sweet World is TEN!

It’s official, y’all… March 7 marked an entire decade since I pushed publish on my very first post and sent this little blog baby of mine out into the world!

What started as a creative outlet for me when I was in the throes of early motherhood while also balancing a full-time corporate job, is now a full-time job, and I still love coming to this space now just as much as I did ten years ago.

I started this blog as a scrapbook for my family, a space for my kids to look back on one day when they are grown and no longer living under our roof, but it has turned into something so much bigger than that.  It is a space that holds not only all of our day-to-day activities, but all of the goodness, sadness, trials, and triumphs that happen during any life well-lived.

It has also become a source of income for our family, and it allows me to contribute to our finances while also having the freedom to be my own boss so I can be there for all the things happening in our kids’ lives, big and small.

Every class party.

Every spring break.

Every class birthday.

Every rehearsal.

Every recital.

Every sick day.

Every practice.

Every music lesson.

Every field day.

Every awards ceremony.

Every field trip.

Every summer break.

Every school Mass where one of them has read or sung in the choir.

That has been the biggest blessing of all.  I missed so much while I worked at my corporate job and I’m so grateful that I don’t have to miss anything anymore.

Today’s post is my 2,150th, and I look forward to (hopefully, God willing) publishing 2,150 more!  While blogging is becoming more and more uncommon as many are leaving to be social media influencers, I don’t see myself saying goodbye to this space any time soon.  I love sitting down and writing every day, and I love sharing my heart with all of you.

Just for fun, here are my top three most-viewed posts of all time, all of which still bring traffic to my blog daily:

#3

Olivia Cates Pink & Gold First Birthday (my first post ever!)

How I Organized My Entire Life by Creating a Series of Lists + How I Use My Planner to Easily Maintain Them

How to Organize All of Your Child’s School Papers in Just One Box

I have readers from all over the world (which will never not be mind-blowing to me), and I just want all of you to know that I’m so grateful for each and every one of you.  Thank you for your support, for your kind words, for your condolences when we experience something tough, for your purchases through my links, for your engagement with my posts on social media, for your content suggestions, for your constructive criticism, and for your words of encouragement as we navigate each day.

We are grateful for you, and we appreciate how much all of you have loved on our little family for ten whole years!

Cheers to ten more?!

A Couple of Blog Housekeeping Notes

Hey, y’all, happy Tuesday!  I know most of you came here today to see our weekly recap, but I wanted to use today to put out my annual reminder that those recaps will be moved to Wednesdays during the summer.

I like to maximize my time with the kids while they’re out for summer break, and I don’t want to be sitting at my computer all day, so I plan to publish posts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays this summer just like in previous summers.  There may be a week or two where I will blog on a random Tuesday, but most weeks, I’ll just be publishing three days per week.

Another reminder, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see that my daily to-do lists will cease for summer break, too.  While I do keep very loose to-do lists some days during the summer, the last thing I want to do is be a slave to a to-do list when I could be spending time with the kids.  So, I’m giving myself a break from those, too.  You may see a random one here and there if there’s a lot on the agenda, but most days – no to-do lists during summer break.

We are officially on summer break starting this Thursday at noon, so this will be the last Tuesday post you’ll see from me until they go back in August (aside from the random one or two that may happen).

With all that said, if you came here for last week’s recap, come back tomorrow!  :o)  And if you want to follow along with us in real time this summer, you can always follow along on Instagram stories.  You can also see our VERY busy weekend in my "Everyday 6" highlight on Instagram.  Just head to my Instagram bio, tap the "Everyday 6" highlight, and our weekend is there... including snippets of Olivia's recital dances!  Her Janet Jackson tribute for Jazz was amazing.

I am so excited for lazier days, more time outside, more time with my babies, and lots of time with friends.  Oh, and a beach trip!

Thanks, y’all!  Happy summer break!

Happy Tuesday!

Lindsay’s Sweet World is Nine!

Wow.  I just cannot believe that this little blog of mine is nine today.  On this day nine years ago, I published my very first blog post about my one-year-old’s pink and gold birthday, and now here we are, and she just turned ten.

Time flies, friends.

Today’s post is my 1,938th blog post, so I’m hoping to hit #2,000 this year!  I know most bloggers have turned to social media to run their businesses, and most have abandoned their blogs altogether, but I have to say, this space still brings me more joy than social media does any day, and I love to come here each day and share a little piece of my heart and our lives each day with you.

I usually do a whole spiel about the things I’ve learned each year, and I share some accomplishments from each year, but today, I just wanted to pop in to say…

THANK YOU

To those of you who have recently started reading.

To those of you who have been around since the beginning.

To those of you who click and purchase through my links.

To those of you who engage with my posts on social media and pin my Pinterest images.

To those of you who reach out with suggestions, constructive criticism, and words of encouragement.

To those of you who come back here day in and day out and read no matter what I’m posting about on any given day.

To those of you who have loved on our little family and supported us through the good times and the bad.

I’m so very grateful for all of you, and I hope to continue showing up in this space for you for years to come!

Happy Thursday, y’all!

Lindsay’s Sweet World is Eight!

Eight years ago today I hit publish on my very first blog post, and 1,725 posts later, I’m still heeeere!

One thousand seven hundred twenty-five posts, y’all!!!!

So many of the lifestyle bloggers have abandoned their blogs these last few years in favor of Instagram and TikTok, but I have zero desire to give up this baby of mine because it still brings me so much joy to write and photograph and design and share our lives with all of you in this space.  I’ve worked so hard on this little corner of the internet, and there’s no way I’d want to give all of that up!

As I do year after year, today I’m going to share some of the things I’ve learned as well as some accomplishments from the past year…

A few things I’ve learned this past year…

I have learned to finally accept Instagram Reels this past year.  Sigh.  Haha.  I still do not love that my entire Instagram feed is Reels, but I have learned to accept the fact that they’re not going anywhere, and I have even started participating a little here and there.  I can promise that my feed will never be 100% Reels, though.

I have learned to be comfortable talking on camera.  I have had so many requests from readers and followers over the years to talk and engage more with y’all on Instagram stories, but I never did because it always made me so uncomfortable.  For whatever reason, I’ve always found it so awkward talking to my phone, seeing myself on camera, hearing my voice play back, etc., but I’ve learned to push myself outside my comfort zone and overcome that discomfort.  It truly doesn’t bother me anymore!

I also learned to be comfortable sharing more outfits and “modeling” (I use that word very lightly) clothes for y’all.  I used to use product photos with the occasional static photo of myself when sharing items with all of you, but in recently months I’ve finally become comfortable with posting videos of myself, too.

I have completely accepted the fact that I will never be everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay.  There will always be people who dislike/don’t agree with/want to criticize things that I say and do, and that’s okay.  I used to contemplate/fret about/worry about so many things before (and sometimes after) I posted them, and any time I would get a nasty DM/email/comment it would stress me out, but I’ve finally reached the point where I’m no longer bothered by them.  I don’t get a lot of bad ones, but when I do, I just delete, block, and let it go.

A few accomplishments this year…

I managed to continue to keep blog pageviews consistent this year even though more and more people are ditching blogs for social media instead.

I also continued to bring in consistent income since my pageviews were consistent.  Woo hoo!  Love you forever, Mediavine.

I had a couple of new blog posts start picking up speed on Pinterest, and that has been driving pageviews, which in turn means more ad revenue!

I finally started using Instagram Reels, and I actually enjoy making them.  I still don’t want my feed to be all Reels, but I do enjoy the ones that I do make.

Stats

I have pretty much stopped focusing on stats and just enjoyed the process of creating content.  I’d be creating no matter what the numbers looked like, so I really don’t check the numbers very often.  Just for fun, though, here are my top three blog posts of all-time.  Nothing has changed since last year!

Most Popular Post of All Time: How to Organize Your Child’s School Papers in Just One Box

Second Most Popular Post of All Time: Olivia Cate’s Pink & Gold First Birthday

Third Most Popular Post of All Time: How I Organized My Entire Life by Creating a Series of Lists + How I Use My Planner to Easily Maintain Them

Finally, the same words I reiterate in every blog anniversary post:

The sole purpose for starting this baby of mine was to start keeping a journal again – to have a place where I could jot down my feelings and document the fleeting moments of motherhood.  A place to discuss my fears and my insecurities.  A place to discuss my shortcomings and a place to celebrate my accomplishments.  A place to share the things that I love.  I kept a journal from the ages of 6 to 21 – that’s almost half of my life in old diaries, notebooks, and binders all carefully lining the bookshelves in my office – and I thought that it was high time to come back to what I love after a decade-long hiatus.  I feel like I have found my passion and I feel like I am home.  I feel like I was meant to be a blogger.  My only regret is not starting sooner.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of you who visit this little space every day, to those of you who offer kindness and encouraging words, to those of you who purchase through my links, to those of you who engage with my posts on social media and pin my Pinterest images.  I am truly humbled by your support and I’m very grateful that I have the opportunity to stay home with our kiddos while also providing an income for our family.

Happy eight years!  Long live blogging!
