14 Finds - Classy Halloween Decor for the Person Who Hates Halloween Decor

If your kids have begged and begged you to decorate for Halloween, and you don’t love the idea of decorating for Halloween, this post is for you.  My entire adult life, I have enjoyed decorating my house and making it all cozy and welcoming for fall, but when our kids were very small and they suggested that we start decorating for Halloween, too, I was not remotely on board. 

Witches and jack-o-lanterns and ghosts and bats just did not scream cozy or welcoming to me.  But because I’m a mother who is a sucker for her kids, I decided to humor them and make the most of it, and now I love decorating the house for Halloween as much as I love decorating it for fall.  If you had told me ten years ago that I would have a life size skeleton by my fireplace – and that I would LOVE it – I wouldn’t have believed you.

I do have some rules, though.  Everything we use must be what I like to call Halloween chic or Halloween classy – I don’t allow any super scary stuff, and I absolutely do not allow any bloody or gory stuff.  If it isn’t cute / kind of fancy, it’s not allowed.  I also try to stick to neutrals, and I don’t incorporate too many colors like orange or green.  Give me all the black and white things! 

Today, I thought I’d share some fabulous Halloween decor options in case you’re considering dipping your toes in the Halloween decor for the first time.  :o)

 

Moody Garland

You can’t go wrong with a beautiful plum garland on the mantle or the dining room table, and this one screams Halloween with its dark, moody branches.  It has flexible wire that allows for easy movement and styling and it’s pre-strung with lights and hooks.  It would look stunning on a mantle with some battery-operated taper candles!

 

Lit Ghost Wreath

How fun is this wreath?  The ghosts are perfectly festive for Halloween, but the wreath’s neutral colors, warm lights, and bow accent add a little bit of charm. 

 

Bat Garland

This bat garland would pair very well with the plum garland above.  It also gives all the festive Halloween vibes because – bats! – without being too over-the-top. 

 

Light Up Witch Broom

I’ve seen these light-up witch brooms all over social media this year, and they are just FABULOUS.  Nothing screams Halloween like a witch broom, but its understated design would actually look beautiful in any corner of your home.  It’s six feet tall and it comes with built-in string lights that are controlled by a remote and it went straight on my wish list for next year.  I also cannot get over this one… that is some serious Halloween magic right there!

 

Battery Operated Ghost Taper Candles

These ghost taper candles are the product that I saw that inspired this post!  HOW CUTE ARE THESE?!  I am OBSESSED.  I’m not spending any money on new decor this year, but these immediately went on my wish list for next year!  They are battery operated so they give the whimsical candlelight glow without the fire hazard, and they can be used year after year since they don’t burn down. 

 

Black Cat Throw Pillow

This throw pillow is such a cutie!  It’s shaped like a cat, so it looks like an actual black cat resting on your couch or chair!  And this pillow and this pillow are awesome, too, if you prefer traditional shaped pillows.

 

Trick-Or-Treating Dog Mugs

Y’all!  These mugs are absolutely precious, and they would be the perfect accessory for any coffee or tea bar. 

 

Witch Hats

This set of six witch hats is so inexpensive, so you get lots of bang for your buck!  The set includes the hats + 115 feet of clear fishing line, so you can hang them in any space.  I absolutely LOVE the floating witch hat décor that I’ve seen on social media, and I think this would be so cool in any space.  SO cheap to do, too.

 

Ghost Throw Blanket

It wouldn’t be a holiday without a festive throw blanket, and this one is the perfect black and white neutral that would look good in any space.  It’s cute and festive, but not over-the-top, and it has excellent ratings for coziness.

 

Candy Holder

This ghost candy holder is expensive, but it’s large and it’s a piece that you could use forever and eventually pass down.  And it holds 1.25 quarts of candy!

 

Light-Up Ghost

This light-up ghost would be cute standing in a corner or along the side of a fireplace, and it’s sherpa!!  It comes with everything you need, including the lights and it has great reviews.  I also love these little guys, too!

 

Terracotta Pumpkins

These terracotta pumpkins are also pricey, but they are elegant (if something with bats on it can actually be described as elegant – ha!) and they are sturdy / top-notch quality.  They come in different sizes and colors, and they are just perfection for a Halloween front porch.  And don’t forget these!

 

Ghost Table Decor

I do love a pop of light pink and/or lavender every now and then with my Halloween decorations, and I just couldn’t get over this cute little ghost table decoration.  Their expressions are darling, and I would totally put these cuties somewhere in my house.

 

Checkered Pumpkins

And if you’re still not convinced you can decorate for Halloween after all of this, you can never go wrong with pumpkins!  I love these because they can be used for fall and easily transition to Halloween.  They’re sophisticated, but the checkered pattern totally gives Halloween vibes without being too Halloween-y!  They come in this color, too.
