Cozy season is almost here, y’all! I know fall doesn’t technically start until the end of September, but September 1 will always be the first unofficial day of fall in my heart. ;o) Soon enough, we’ll all be enjoying colorful crunchy leaves underfoot, shorter days, and the first chill in the air after a long, hot summer, and there is nothing that makes me happier than snuggling up at home with Brian and the kids (and now Bellie!) and watching football in a warm, cozy home. Gah, I’m so excited for the next four months!
Since the first unofficial day of fall is tomorrow (for me, anyway – hehe), I thought I’d share 14 things that I think transform a house into the coziest home.
Flameless Candles
Candles (and any other ambient lighting) are the epitome of coziness, and while I would love to have real candles all over the house, it’s just not practical since they are a fire hazard. Instead, there are so many options for flameless candles nowadays, and they still give all the cozy vibes, but without the hazard. Flameless candles come in tons of different sizes, shapes, and colors these days, and these pillar candles are the perfect set to get started. These have irregular edges and a lifelike flicker giving the illusion of real candles. They’re waterproof so they can be used indoors or outdoors, and they have a remote control to adjust light modes and brightness from afar, and they also have built-in timers for 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours so you can set them and forget them. And if pillar candles aren’t your vibe, we have these taper candles on our mantle and we love them. I love these tealights, too.
String
Lights
Perhaps my favorite thing of all time to cozy up a space is string lights! I hung a strand in my office years ago and they the absolute best thing! Olivia loved mine so much that she requested a strand in her bedroom. And we also have them on our back porch. These are weatherproof so they can be used indoors or outdoors and they’re easy to install since each socket includes a hook. The bulbs are long-lasting, too. Mine have been hanging in my office for years, and they are on for most of the day every single day and we’ve only had to change a few of the bulbs here and there.
Lamps
Lamps are so much cozier than overhead lights, so we have them all over the house. We have lamps in the living room, the dining room, every bedroom, my office, and even the kitchen… I will put a lamp just about anywhere, and small touch lamps are great for that because you don’t even have to have an outlet. This one is rattan, so it’s warm and cozy, it has three brightness levels, and it’s rechargeable providing 50 hours of use on a single charge. It’s perfect for cozying up any little corner in the house! And if you really want something unique, these waterproof lamps are now trending so you can be cozy in the bathroom, too! Shower goals!
Diffuser
& Oils
Having a signature scent in your home is a must, and my favorite way to freshen up our home is to use a diffuser. This one has two misting modes, seven mood lights, and a beautiful star pattern, giving it the most whimsical design! We run our diffuser year-round, but it is extra special during the fall and winter when we can diffuse our cozy seasonal scents. My personal favorite oil for fall and Christmas is this cinnamon bark. It is warm and inviting, and it smells divine, especially when paired with clove or pumpkin spice.
Scented
Candles
And if you’re not a diffuser person, you can never go wrong with a scented candle. Bath & Body Works always has lovely options, and these are beautiful and they come in various scents. I absolutely love the shape of the glass jar on these!
Candle
Warmer
If you want to use real candles, but you don’t want the hazard, a candle warmer is a great alternative to burning them because it provides a safe and eco-friendly way to enjoy them. There’s no open flame, no smoke, no soot, and no pollution. This electric candle warmer melts candles by providing four different levels of light, and it also has a timer for automatic shutoff. And it also provides ambient lighting to cozy up any nook in the house.
Cozy
Blankets
There is nothing cozier than a giant, snuggly blanket, so we have blankets all over the house. My personal favorites are blankets like this one because they are the warmest and snuggliest. And if you want to be the warmest ever, I highly recommend getting an electric blanket. I use mine every single day during the winter and it is the best thing ever.
Blanket
Basket
If you’re going to have blankets all over the house, you’ll need a place to store them, and an oversized basket stuffed full of blankets definitely screams cozy. Not only is a blanket basket functional, it makes any room look so much more inviting. I am obviously having a moment with scallops, so of course, I love this one.
Couch
Caddy
This find is kind of random, and I don’t have one, but I came across it while I was browsing, and I thought it was genius! How cozy is this couch / bed caddy?! It’s a big, fluffy pillow with a removeable silicone insert that holds cans, bottles, mugs, remotes, phones, and snacks! It’s sturdy and supportive, but so much cozier than using a traditional hard tray. This is perfect for hot chocolate and all the snacks for a cozy movie night!
Coffee
Table Books
Books books books! I love a book and you simply cannot go wrong with using a book as décor. They instantly cozy up any space in the whole house, and bonus points if the books are about being cozy like this one!
Indoor
Tabletop Smores Maker
Our family loves smores and they’re obviously best around a campfire. However, not everyone has access to a firepit or an open flame, so this tabletop smores maker is perfect to have on hand in fall and winter. It comes with a flameless heater so it can be used indoors, it has four removeable trays that hold ingredients, and it comes with four roasting forks and a foldable base for compact storage. Such a fun way to make memories right in your own home!
Electric
Fondue Maker
Another fun (and cozy) activity would be to have a fondue party! This electric fondue maker comes with a melting base, a removeable melting bowl, three detachable trays to hold all food items, and four skewers. You could melt various kinds of chocolate and provide sweet treats for dessert fondue, or you could melt cheese and provide salty snacks for a savory version.
Plants
Plants also warm up any space, and we have them all over our house. I know not everyone has a green thumb, though, so that’s what artificial plants are for! These hanging plants come in a macrame hanger with a set of 100 string lights that can be controlled with a remote. These are very realistic and they have great reviews! This would look absolutely magical hanging in the corner of the living room!
Mirror
Balls
I also have mirror balls in many spaces in our home because I just love the way they look. And when they reflect any kind of light – especially natural light – they really become something special! We have random mirror balls in all sizes just laying around our house, but I really like this little one that comes with a stand because it gives it a more finished appearance, and the hanger allows it to swing around a bit, allowing it to catch the light even more.
And
those are my cozy finds, y’all! I have
