Currently… March 2026

I haven’t done a currently post in a few months, so I thought today might be a good day for one!  Get ready for a bunch of random thoughts, y’all!

I’m currently…

Making: Plans for the Mother Son dance that I’m co-chairing at the school later this week, making plans for our Disney World trip, making plans for Easter, and I’m already starting to look forward to summer break and making sure that I’m staying on track to get all necessary tasks done before then.  I am in absolute disbelief that we are halfway through March.

Cooking: A random assortment of all the usual meals that I keep in rotation – beef and parmesan pasta, turkey and cheese biscuit sliders, taco Joes, parmesan chicken and veggies, stir fry with rice and veggies, and breakfast to name a few.  We have breakfast for dinner once a week because the kids love it so much.

Drinking: I’m always drinking a ton of water, and recently I’ve been trying to get my water intake back to where it should be.  I typically try to drink at least two full 30 oz. Stanley tumblers per day (or more during the summer), but during the winter months I have trouble finishing that second one because I’m just not that thirsty when it’s freezing cold outside.  I’m trying to aim for two full tumblers again totaling 60 oz. per day, and in addition to that, I almost always have two cups of my favorite Harney & Sons Cinnamon Black Tea.  I recently switched to the decaf version, and I feel so much better after going completely caffeine free!  And if you follow me here or on Instagram, I’m sure you already know about my obsession with Manhattans… I tried one for the first time around this time last year, and it was love at first sip.  I mean, it’s the perfect drink – it goes with every cuisine, it’s delicious as a pre-dinner drink, and it’s even better as a nightcap.  It makes me sleep well and it makes me wake up feeling more refreshed (I have no idea why, but for some reason I always wake up so much easier if I have one the night before), and I swear the whiskey also helps keep the germs away.  Haha.  Brian and I have perfected the Manhattan at home (which is so hard to do with some cocktails), and after nearly 44 years on this earth I have officially found my signature drink –  2 oz. good rye whiskey (we use a couple of different brands), 1 oz. sweet vermouth, 3 dashes (or sometimes more if I’m feeling spicy) of angostura bitters, not one, but two maraschino cherries (must be Luxardo brand… no other brand will do), and a dollop of the cherry juice (this is the secret ingredient).  Combine everything (except cherries) over ice, mix in a cocktail shaker, strain into a chilled glass, and garnish with cherries.  Bonus points if the glass is cute like these.  ;o)

Eating: Lots of healthy food!  I recently tweaked my diet to eliminate a few things and to add some things, and it has helped tremendously with my inflammation and bloating.  For the past few months, I’ve had tons of bloating in my belly by the end of the day, and my inflammation has also been back in full force despite the fact that I still take my turmeric religiously.  I realized that the culprit was likely the Greek yogurt I was consuming and maybe even the cottage cheese I had started adding to my eggs for more protein about a year ago.  Sure enough, I cut out the Greek yogurts, and my bloating and inflammation decreased significantly.  I went ahead and eliminated the cottage cheese shortly after that, and my stomach is back to being flat again for the most part (I think the rest is from hormones).  CLEARLY, I have some sort of sensitivity to lactose, which is unfortunate.  Instead, I’m eating my eggs sans cottage cheese now (I eat eggs every single day), but I do still allow for a sprinkle of cheddar cheese on top… I’m just not going to give up cheese altogether!  I also added avocado to my diet every day as well as whole, natural almonds for some additional protein since I stopped eating the cottage cheese.  I also started eating at least one kiwi per day for digestion benefits.  In addition to all that, I’m still having my green smoothies every single day (1 banana, handful of blueberries, handful of spinach, and Vital Proteins collagen powder + ice) and I cook dinner at least four nights per week.  On the weekends, I still splurge and eat out on Friday and Saturday nights, and we typically eat our parents’ home cooking on Sundays.  I’m also still loving the Kind protein breakfast bars for snacks!  So, I would say that I am eating healthy 80% of the time and then splurging 20%?  Ish.

Reading: I just started The Heir Apparent by Rebecca Armitage because my Aunt Joy let me borrow her copy.  So far, it’s pretty good, but it’s not riveting.  I’m not very far along, though, so I’m hoping it’ll pick up a bit soon.  I started The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins months ago, but I never finished it because I’ve had a long string of library books that became available to read, so I need to get back to that one.  And, of course, I’m still reading my daily devotional – Called by Name: 365 Daily Devotions for Catholic Women by Kelly M. Wahlquist as well as my Bible and my Bible study The Bible in a Year Companion by Father Mike Schmitz.  I’m about 2/3 of the way through book two and then I just have one left, and I’ll officially have read the Bible cover to cover two full times + two Bible studies.

Wanting: To purchase a couple of the items on my birthday wish list that I posted about last Friday, but of course, I’ll wait until after my birthday.

Looking: Forward to summer break.  Am I ready for it to be here already?  No, not quite.  I’m not one to wish away time at all.  It’s flying by fast enough as it is.  But the thought of sleeping in every day, staying up late every night, lounging in the warm sun, spending extra time with my babies, and having fewer responsibilities and a much slower pace sounds really good right about now.  Not to mention I’m reeeeally looking forward to our beach trip and some of the other fun stuff we have planned this summer.  But first, Disney World for spring break, Easter, Olivia’s recital, and a million other end-of-the-school-year things!  Which also reminds me that I’m suuuuper looking forward to our Disney trip, too!  Thank goodness for spring break because I think all of us have spring fever right now!

Playing: A ton of 90s R&B music.  I miss the days of cruising around late at night with the sunroof open and the windows down and listening to 90s R&B.  It was vibes, y’all.  If you know, you know, and if you don’t, I’m sorry.  ;o)

Wasting: Well, I’m not usually one to waste, but I have been “wasting” time recently if that’s how you want to look at it.  And by wasting time I just mean that I have been using my time occasionally to take a quick nap if I feel tired.  I’ve never been a napper, but in recent weeks, I have started listening to my body.  If my body is struggling to sit at my desk and keep my eyes open, I will not hesitate to curl up on the bed with my electric blanket and set an alarm for 30-45 minutes to get a quick power nap.  I don’t do it often – it’s only happened a handful of times the last couple of months – but I never regret it when I do.  Once upon a time, I thought a nap was a waste of time – I used to run myself ragged some days trying to maximize my time and get things done and I would have never in a million years even considered taking a nap – but now, clearly, I’ve changed my tune.  I guess these naps are just part of my journey to creating my own happiness this year (Opalite) because a quick nap when I’m bone tired makes me happy!

Buying: Easter basket stuffers for the kids along with some egg stuffers for our annual Easter egg hunt.  All the kids on Brian’s side of the family may be grown, but they still love an Easter egg hunt!  We also had to buy a couple of odds and ends for our upcoming Disney World trip!!

Creating: Okay, so this category used to be titled “sewing,” but I’ve been saying for years that I was going to eliminate it since I literally never sew anything.  Instead, I thought it would be fun to change it to “creating” since I do love to write and make art and craft.  At this time, I’m not really creating anything other than content for the blog, but I do have it on my to do list to make a couple more bracelets with my new beads that I got for Christmas.  I hope to start those soon, so I thought it was worth mentioning!  ;o)

Wishing: That we would stop switching to Daylight Saving Time every year.  Yes, yes, I know most of you probably disagree, but I am one of those weirdos who does not love it.  While it is nice to have extra daylight in the evening – I mean, I don’t think anyone would complain about that – I would still rather have the extra daylight in the morning because ever since we switched back, the kids and I have been driving to school in the pitch-black dark again.  I already have driving anxiety when traffic is heavy, so driving in heavy traffic in the dark?  No thanks.  Also, when I wake up now it feels like it’s still the middle of the night, so I have been dragging this past week because of it.  And also?  It’s terrible for our circadian rhythm.  Not to mention the last few nights I’ve been getting a burst of energy right before bed and I haven’t been able to fall asleep as quickly as I usually do.  It’s just a big fat NO for me every way I look at it.  I saw this post on Instagram last week, and it sums up all the things I’ve always thought about it.

Loving: Receiving a letter in the mail from our favorite friar who left our church a few years ago.  He and I talk fairly often on social media and occasionally via text, but it was extra special to get some happy mail from him last week.  It made my whole day!  I had just finished the book The Correspondent by Virginia Evans, so it was incredibly timely, too.  He and my friend, Trish (hiiii, Trish!  I know you’re reading!), have inspired me to want to do the same.  I definitely won’t be writing as many people as Trish does, but I do want to start dropping sweet notes in the mail here and there.

Hoping: That everything goes well for our Disney World trip.  That everyone stays well.  That we have a safe and smooth drive there and back.  That we have nice weather.  And that we have SO MUCH FUN.

Marveling: At what a difference it has made to deep clean all the windows in our house.  I’m embarrassed (well, not really) to admit that I have never cleaned the windows in our house since we’ve lived here (16 years), and after finally starting the process, it made me realize just how foggy they had gotten!  None of them really appeared to be dirty, which is why I never thought to wash them, but after washing them, I can definitely tell that there was a layer of fog on them that was preventing us from seeing as clearly outside.  I bought this window cleaner and it is truly the GOAT of window cleaners.  It leaves no streaks when used with a microfiber cloth and it is so satisfying to wipe everything clean with it.  I also love that it foams because the foam keeps the cleaner from dripping down the windows (and it also allows me to spray cute lil’ pictures on the windows while I clean for an added little bit of whimsy) and I’m loving how sparkly and clear the windows are now.  I guess that means I won’t be waiting 16 more years before cleaning them again.  ;o)

Needing: To finish deep cleaning the rest of the house (windows, blinds, baseboards, and some other random tasks) and also to finish cleaning out and decluttering the house.  I started off strong with the decluttering, completing the front sitting room, the living room, the dining room, the primary bedroom, Jacob’s and Olivia’s bedrooms, the playroom, and my office, but then I stopped.  I still need to do the kitchen, all the bathrooms, the laundry room, and a few other random places, and I’d like to have it all done by the time the kids get out of school.  Wish me luck because they only have eleven weeks left of school and we’ll be out of town for one of them!  Ten weeks is not really a lot of time considering all the other things that we must squeeze in at that time.

Smelling: Peppermiiiint!!!!  Gah, I just love how refreshing it is!  I used to diffuse peppermint way back when I first got my diffuser and oils, but I hadn’t diffused it in years until recently.  I went to an appointment at my upper cervical chiropractor’s office at the beginning of this month and they were diffusing it, and that made me go straight home and put it in my diffuser, too.  It’s just such a happy scent!  It is a crowd pleaser, too.

Wearing: Well, as I’m typing this part (Wednesday, 3/11), I’m wearing a tank, one of my favorite tennis skirts, and tennis shoes.  However, as you’re reading this (Monday, 3/16), I’m probably wearing leggings, a giant sweatshirt, and my UGG boot dupes because false spring has ended and we were plunged back in the cold today.  Boo.  Lame.  No thank you.  I’m done with winter.

Praying: With gratitude for all our many blessings.  For my cousin battling cancer, for all the miracles.  For our friend’s child who is still healing from her brain tumor surgery, that she heals completely and that the tumor doesn’t come back.  For the administration in our country, that they will learn how to lead with compassion for others.  That my upper cervical chiropractic care will rid me of this dizziness once and for all (I've had six completely normal days in a row as I type this!!!!), and that the rest of my tapering from my vertigo medicine won’t cause any issues.  And for soooo many other things as well as all the prayer requests that will remain unspoken.

Noticing: All of God’s beauty during this season of (almost) spring!  Trees are blossoming, flowers blooming, and the grass is turning a beautiful shade of green.  Birds are chirping, squirrels are scampering through the back yard, and bees are absolutely everywhere just buzz buzz buzzing all around.  The sunshine is a little warmer, the sunsets are a little later, and the breeze no longer sends a chill up my spine.  It is lovely.  (Well, it was until this past weekend when it turned cold again.  Hahahaha.)

Knowing: How little time we have left at home with all four of us under the same roof.  Jacob only has three years left of high school, and then… off to college?  College here at home?  (We have a good one right here in town.)  Only time will tell.  But either way, the sand of time continues to run nonstop and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.  Having a kid in high school really makes you think about these things.

Thinking: How grateful I am for my group of girlfriends.  We have all known each other for 30+ years and all these years later I love them even more than I did when we were young.  We have all gone in different directions over the years.  Some of us are married.  Some of us are not.  Some of us are divorced.  Some of us are not.  Some of us have kids.  Some of us do not.  Some of us have lived on the opposite side of the world.  Some of us have stayed right here at home the whole time.  But somehow, 30 years later, here we are, all together, texting daily, getting together in person at least monthly, checking on each other when we know someone is struggling, giving life advice, encouraging one another and lifting each other up, giving book recommendations, sending funny memes and Reels to each other, and always lending a listening ear when someone needs it.  I remember learning the Bible verse Sirach 6:14 in school – “Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter; whoever finds one has found a treasure.” – and it is one of the few that I remember all these years later.  I just love that all of us who learned that Bible verse together are still friends all these decades later.

Opening: I haven’t started yet, but I’m about to be opening oodles and oodles of plastic eggs for our Easter egg hunt.  It’s time to get those babies stuffed and ready!  I have to have everything for Easter done and ready to go because we will be out of town the week leading up to it, so I only have a couple weeks left to prepare!

Giggling: At memes and Reels always and forever.  I don’t scroll social media a whole lot, but my algorithm sure knows me well for the little time I do spend on there.

Happy Monday, y’all!

Currently… August 2025

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

I try to do these “currently” posts at least once a quarter, and at the beginning of each year, I add four to my editorial calendar in random places.  However, for the past year, I have been bumping them for other content, and I realized recently that it’s been nearly a whole year since I’ve done one of these, which is just crazy!!  Y’all ready for some randomness?

I’m currently…

Making: Lots of plans as usual.  Right now, I’m working on Grandparent’s Day at the kids’ school as I am the chair for that event.  I’m also starting to think about our upcoming trip to Universal Studios this fall.  We have never been, so it will be our first time, and we’re going with friends which will make it even more fun!  And I’m already starting to look forward to the holidays… because it’s never too early to start planning for any of those.  I’ve already printed my Holiday Checklist and I’m checking things off, too.

Cooking: I would love to say that I’m trying a bunch of new recipes and getting out of the usual cooking rut that I’m in, but nope, I’m still sticking to quick and easy meals that I cook all the time – stir fry, turkey and cheese biscuit sliders, slow cooker chicken and ranch pasta, beef and parmesan pasta, etc.  And we have breakfast for dinner at least once a week.  I am really ready for a cool down so I can start cooking some soups and our favorite white chicken chili, too.

Drinking: Lots of water as always, my beloved Harney & Sons Hot Sunset Cinnamon Black Tea every morning and every afternoon, and my green protein smoothie every single day… it’s how I get my collagen in every day!  And on weekends, Brian and I pretty much always indulge in a glass of wine, a beer, or a cocktail.  My faaaavorite drink right now is a Manhattan.  I found them by accident back in February when my favorite local restaurant did away with one of their signature cocktails – the one that I always got – so I decided to randomly try a Manhattan, and friends, it ended up being the best thing because I can’t get enough of them!  They’re very similar to an Old Fashioned, but even better, in my opinion.  I love them so much that Brian found a recipe online, bought the ingredients, and we’ve been making them at home.  If you had told me 5 years ago that a whiskey drink was going to be my favorite drink, I would have told you there was NO WAY.  But here we are…

Eating: All of the stuff that I cook, for starters.  In addition to that, I’m still on an eggs with cottage cheese for breakfast kick, and I often eat eggs with cottage cheese for lunch, too.  A green protein smoothie a day, Kind breakfast bars, and Kodiak protein bars round out my snacks.  I honestly don’t get a lot of variety for breakfast, lunch, and snacks each day, but dinner is always different.

Reading: I’m currently working my way through The Small and the Mighty by Sharon McMahon (one of my favorite people on Instagram).  It’s a book about twelve unsung heroes in American History (who you probably haven’t heard of) who helped change the course of history in positive ways.  I don’t usually enjoy historical books, but this one has been great so far.  I’m also still reading my Bible daily and doing The Bible in a Year study guide.  And I’m reading my daily devotional, Everyday Gospel, by Paul David Tripp

Wanting: The weather to match the vibes in my heart.  I’m so ready for fall, but these 90+ degree temps are not allowing it.  Yet.

Looking: Forward to everything that the next four months will bring – reveling in my fall, Halloween, and eventually Christmas décor.  College football.  Crisp weather.  Friday night lights.  Cozy evenings at home.  Sweaters.  White chicken chili.  Pumpkin spice lattes.  Going to Universal Studios for the first time.  Our Pumpkins at Callaway tradition.  A Brandon Lake concert.  Trick-or-treating.  Our Halloween play list.  Fires in the fireplace.  The time change (yes, I am one of those people who LOVES to fall back because my body feels like it is sleeping in).  Thanksgiving with family.  Christmas music.  Christmas movies.  Our Fantasy in Lights tradition.  Having a Christmas tree in the corner of the living room again.  Seeing the Frozen play at the theater.  Christmas Eve and Day.  The weeks after Christmas where we don’t know what day it is because the kids are out for Christmas break and Brian is off of work.  Cocktails on random Wednesday nights just because.  Sleeping in every day for 2.5 weeks straight because we can.  New Year’s Eve and the hope, possibilities, and clean slate that a new year brings.

Playing: Music, music, music.  I listen to it all day while I work.  Sometimes I just listen to Z100 (based out of New York) and sometimes I listen to my own collection.  Lately, I’ve been listening to a whole lot of Taylor Swift to gear up for TS12, but I’ve also been throwing some other random singles in the mix that I’ve recently downloaded.  And since it’s now fall in my book, the sounds of old standards and cocktail jazz will soon be floating through the house.  Yes ma’am.

Wasting: Nothing at this time, I don’t think?  I’m not really a wasteful kind of gal.  Time is precious so I rarely waste it (other than occasional periods where I will get sucked in to social media).  Food is precious because so many don’t have it.  Money is precious since the cost of everything has skyrocketed.  So, I really cannot think of anything that I’m wasting at this time (although, Brian may say money since I recently purchased three different copies of an album by a certain artist, hahahaha).  I’m a pretty intentional person, though, and I don’t really waste much of anything.

Buying: Not much this whole year until just recently.  We had to purchase all of the back-to-school things, but those were all necessities.  I did recently purchase three items from Hollister (more on that below) that I didn’t need but wanted soooo bad, and I also purchased a few of these tops when they went on sale for $8 because I love them so much.  But other than that?  Not much for myself.  I will be purchasing my new planner this week for 2026, though!  Simplified launch day is Wednesday.  Y’all know how much I love and utilize those planners!!  This will be my 8th year using a Simplified Planner and I still love it just as much today as I did eight years ago.  It has everything I need and nothing I don’t need.

Sewing: Nothing.  Ever.  Safety pinning?  Yes.  Liquid stitching?  Yes.  But sewing.  Never.  My mother-in-law does currently have a sweater of mine that came undone at one of the seams, so does that count even though she’s sewing it for me?  Haha.

Wishing: That our kids would stop bringing home so many dang germs… at what age does this end?  Haha.  At less than three weeks into school, we’ve already had one kid miss a day because of a low-grade fever and congestion.

Loving: All of the Taylor Swift Easter eggs that have been dropped and all of the theories behind them.  I just love how she does this for her fans, and I love all of the fans who take the time to analyze every single tiny detail of every single thing she does to see how things are linked, and to predict when singles will drop, what album covers will look like, what songs could mean (even though we haven’t yet heard the lyrics), when she could potentially start touring again (or do a residency in Las Vegas!!!!), and whether or not she will be headlining the Super Bowl halftime show this year!

Hoping: That the weather starts to change really soon because I am so ready for signs of fall!  Georgia football starts this weekend, and I couldn’t be more ready for crisp weather, colorful leaves, and a chill in the air so we can finally start enjoying some time outside.  Not to mention, I’m ready to start making soups and slow cooker meals again.  And yes, this is my second blurb about weather here, so you can see just how much it means to me.  Haha.

Marveling: At how much thicker my hair is one year after starting my daily Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides regimen.  I have struggled with hair shedding / thinning since I had our two babies (and let’s be honest – I don’t have much to begin with as mine is very fine and thin), and it gets particularly bad when I am stressed or experience a long-term bout of bad anxiety.  I started taking Sulfurzyme from Young Living a few years ago, and it did help a lot with my hair loss and regrowth, but friends, when I started taking my Vital Proteins every day, the regrowth ramped up tremendously, and my hair is thicker than it’s been since I was pregnant.  (Gosh, I miss my pregnancy hair… I have never had hair so thick and long and shiny and healthy as I did when I was pregnant.  If someone could just bottle and sell the good pregnancy hormones without the pregnancy, that would be great.  Haha.)  My hair growth has ramped up so much that I stopped taking Sulfurzyme several months ago and I never looked back.  I started taking Vital Proteins daily exactly one year ago, and my hair is growing in thicker all over my whole head.  There is a visible difference, but I can also tell because it takes me longer to dry my hair every morning now.  My hairline that had been receding by my part has started to fill in again, and I’m so grateful.  (And yes, I still have a deep recess in my hairline right there, but it’s been that way my whole life.  It had gotten reeeeally bad prior to taking the Vital Proteins, though.)  The serving size for Daily Proteins is 4 TBSP per day, but I only take two, so I’m seeing huge results and I’m not even taking the maximum amount each day.  While I’ve always wanted to try Nutrafol, it’s just too expensive, so I’m grateful that I found these Vital Proteins as they’re much more affordable.  I just mix my two tablespoons in my green smoothie every day, and that’s that.  It’s easy and delicious.  In addition to that, my nails are growing like weeds (which is actually kind of annoying – haha), my toenails have never looked healthier (they’ve always been brittle and damaged since I keep them polished 24/7), and my skin seems to have gotten some of its elasticity back in certain areas (mostly my neck/jaw area is where I’ve noticed the most difference, although that could also be due to my bone structure changing from my braces.)  Regardless, Vital Proteins has a customer in me!!

Needing: To deep clean our house.  I’m embarrassed to admit how long it’s been since I’ve done that.  I, of course, always keep the kitchen immaculate and we always wipe down bathroom countertops and wipe toilets clean and vacuum as needed, but a deep clean?  Well, let’s just say that I haven’t done one of those since before I started seeing my upper cervical chiropractor.  I’ll let y’all do that math.  Cringe.  In my defense, he did tell me in the beginning that I needed to be SUPER careful with my movements to keep my adjustments in place, and deep cleaning requires a whole lot of weird movement, so I just haven’t done it.

Smelling: Cinnamon and pumpkin pie oils in my diffuser.  Young Living started offering a pumpkin pie oil last fall, and y’all, about 5 drops of cinnamon and 2 drops of pumpkin pie oil in my diffuser smells almost identical to my beloved Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin candles that I used to burn religiously until I ditched them years ago because they were giving me headaches.

Wearing: Tanks, jean shorts, and these sandals on repeat.  After a very rainy and somewhat mild summer, we finally hit the extreme temps a few weeks ago, and it’s barely let up.  Tanks, jorts, and sandals are my “summer uniform” so that’s basically all I’ve been wearing.  These sandals have been awesome because I can wear them with literally anything as they can be dressed up or down.

Praying: For many things, as always.  For my upper cervical chiropractic care – that it fully heals me once and for all.  While I have been feeling normal 95% of the time, I have had a couple of setbacks recently, I’m thinking from hormone changes, and I’m praying that eventually I will heal fully from all of the neck tension, dizziness, and unsteadiness.  For my cousin who has been battling cancer for so very long with no end in sight.  For someone close to me who has been looking for a job for nearly a year… that this person can find a sustainable job that provides abundantly.  For our administration, that they may learn empathy and compassion for one and all, especially those who don’t look and/or think like them.  That they will start putting humanity first.  That they will uphold the principles upon which our country was founded.  And that others in our administration will continue to stand up to those doing more harm than good.  And as always, I’m thanking God for our many blessings… for our good health, for our safety, and for putting this upper cervical chiropractor in my life since he has been able to help me heal almost fully.

Noticing: How well Jacob and Olivia have adapted to high school and middle school respectively.  Jacob is handling his very heavy course load with ease, he is navigating the hallways as if he’s been there all along, and he’s having fun while doing it.  And Olivia is changing classes like a boss, she has made new friends already, and she is being responsible about keeping up with all of her homework, quizzes, and tests.  Fifth to sixth grade is a big jump because that’s when teachers typically back off a bit from communicating with parents in order to give the students more accountability as they grow.

Knowing: That it’s probably past time to put away Maui’s things.  Her bed and blanket still sit in the same spot in my office where she last lay in them.  Her food bowls are still in the kitchen by the island where they sat for 15 years.  The last of her food and all of her tiny sweaters are still in the cabinet in the kitchen where they’ve been stored her whole life (almost as long as we’ve lived in this house).  It’s been six months since she passed away and I just haven’t been able to bring myself to move any of that stuff.  I know I will have to do it one day, and I know it’s going to be really hard, and I know it’s probably about that time.  I thought time would make it easier, but that has just not been the case.  I miss her so much every single day and I know that this fall and winter is going to be especially lonely without my nightly nap snuggles with her.

Thinking: That I really want to try to stay on top of things this season so I can just focus on being grateful and allowing myself to be happy and revel in my favorite four months of the year.  Last fall and winter was so tough.  Our beloved Maui was slowly fading away (we lost her in February), I was still struggling badly with my neck issues, vertigo, dizziness, and unsteadiness, and therefore, felt like I could barely function much of the time, and I was perpetually behind on LITERALLY EVERYTHING making it really hard to stay in the moment and just enjoy my favorite four months of the year.  I felt like I was drowning this time last year.  This year, I have every reason to hope that this season is much better than last.  And if for some reason it’s not, I pray that I can remember that there is always joy in the midst of sadness/stress/chaos because our joy should primarily come from one source… The One who never changes.

Opening: Packages from Hollister… something I never thought I’d say at age 43.  Hahahaha.  But their Y2K Vault has spoken to me, I answered, and they have delivered… two graphic zipper hoodies and a pair of the comfiest, cutest sweatpants to be exact.  And soon enough, I’ll also be opening a bunch of Taylor Swift packages as I have now ordered three different copies of her new album – one original vinyl, one deluxe CD in the original cover for Olivia, and one deluxe CD with a special cover for me.  I am so PUMPED for October.

Giggling: At so much of the commentary and the memes on Threads these days.  My Threads feed is a perfectly-curated-for-me mix of hilarious memes, Bible verses, Taylor Swift joy, millennial nostalgia, inspiring and encouraging quotes, Dave Matthews Band setlists, and people standing up for justice, the marginalized, and the Constitution.

Happy Monday, y’all!

Currently… September 2024

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

It’s time for my quarterly “currently” post, so it’s time for some randomness!

I’m currently…

Making: Lots of plans!  I just finished planning and implementing Grandparent’s Day at the kids’ school, we’re planning our trip to Chicago for fall break (or, well, we need to anyway!!), I’m planning upcoming holiday blog content, and I just planned the week ahead this morning!  I’m also starting to plan for the holidays… Christmas is going to be here before we know it, so I have already started doing some shopping.  Oh, and we’re planning Halloween for the kids as well… the kids are both trying to decide on costumes and we’ll be doing our Halloween dinner, I’m sure.

Cooking: Last week, I cooked things that were easy!  We had a busy week last week with lots going on during the day while the kids were in school, and we had tons of stuff going on after school last week, so I needed quick and easy!  This week, I’m honestly not sure just yet as I haven’t made my meal plan and grocery list!  I guess I need to add that to my list above of things I need to plan.  ;o)

Drinking: Tons of water, a couple of cups of cinnamon black tea, and a green protein smoothie every day… plus a glass of wine, a beer, or a cocktail on the weekends.  Oh, and let’s not forget the pumpkin spice latte… I did enjoy one of those recently as it made its comeback for fall.  I’m sure I’ll be enjoying a couple more as the season progresses.

Eating: So much protein.  I finally started working on one of my goals that I made at the beginning of the year to get more protein, and I’ve been very diligent about it.  I’m averaging 80-100 grams per day most days, which is way more than I used to get.  A few things I added to my diet to do this?  Low-fat cottage cheese (I add it to my eggs, and it takes them to the next level, y’all!), Kodiak protein flapjacks and Kodiak protein oatmeal (for mornings where I’m in a hurry and need something quick), Kind protein breakfast bars (for protein-filled snacks on the go), and Vital Proteins Collagen in my green smoothies.

Reading: I just started Two Truths and a Lie by Meg Mitchell Moore, and, of course, I’m still reading my Bible daily and doing my Bible Recap study guide.  I’m also still reading my daily devotional, New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp

Wanting: For this nice weather we’ve been having lately to stick around forever.  I know we’re probably just experiencing “fake fall,” but it’s been so nice that it’s been in the 70’s and 80’s rather than near 100 degrees every day.  I have also been enjoying the cloudy days as well as the rainy ones since we haven’t had much rain all summer.  It has pretty much been sunny and blazing every single day for the last two months, so it’s been nice to have a break, even if it’s only temporary.

Looking: Forward to all of the wonderful things that these next four months bring… college football games, outings to the pumpkin patch, cooler weather, sweaters, fall décor, pumpkin spice lattes, boots, bringing our skeleton back out of storage, trick-or-treating, our Halloween play list, putting together my fall puzzle that I started two years ago (LOL), cozy time on the couch with my babies, fires in the fireplace, Christmas music!!, Christmas lights, cinnamon in my diffuser, and every single cozy thing imaginable.  Contrary to popular opinion, I’m also looking forward to the time change because my body will finally feel like it’s back on the proper time again.  It will be nice to wake up at 6 AM with my body feeling like it’s 7 AM.  I will miss my evening walks and jogs so much, though.

Playing: Lots of music, as always.  No matter what kind of mood I’m in, there’s always a play list that I can turn on to either amplify those feelings or squelch those feelings depending on what I need at the time.  Whether I need to be cheered up, pumped up, soothed, reminded of sweet memories of the past, reminded to forget regrets from the past, or if I need to work through challenges, music is always there.  It’s truly live giving.  Lately I’ve been listening to Abe Parker on repeat, and I’m also loving David Kushner’s new album.  And of course, Dave and Taylor are always in the shuffle.  :o)

Wasting: Time scrolling through Instagram and Threads in the evenings after the kids go to bed.  I’ve been doing more scrolling recently due to the fact that it’s an election year, and it has been equal parts appalling and hilarious this year.  Appalling because of some of the things that have been said, and hilarious because of the memes and videos that have come from all of it.  I’ll be glad when this election year is over so we can all move on with our lives and *hopefully* not have to deal with a three-ring circus the next time we have to vote in 2028.

Buying: Honestly?  Not much.  My spending has been way down the past few months aside from Amazon Prime Day back in July.  This is the time of year that I really don’t shop much, but that will all be changing soon as I start Christmas shopping!  A few recent buys have been more pairs of these leggings because they are the GOAT, my new planner for 2025 (and EEK, it’s so gorgeous!), this new Pumpkin Spice oil from Young Living (yes, they have pumpkin spice now!!!!), and some mirror ball pumpkins from the Target Dollar Spot because a) how could I not, and b) could they be more Lindsay?!

Sewing: Nothing… because my mother-in-law just handled my most recent sewing need since I can barely use a needle and thread.  Hahahaha. #NotMyStrongSuit

Wishing: That everybody could just get along, or at the very least, just be kind.  We don’t all have to agree on everything, but can we all just agree that we should all be able to have differing opinions and still be kind to one another?  Is it really too much to ask?

Loving: That we have SO MANY CONCERTS to attend before the end of the year!  Kaleo this month, Abe Parker in October, and Pentatonix (Brian snagged tickets for us in the FOURTH ROW!!!!  But the kids don’t know about this, so if you see them, please do not mention it!), Usher, and Straight No Chaser (another fun one with the kids that they do not yet know about) in December.  December is looking extra fun and festive this year, y’all!  Pentatonix at Christmas is going to be such a huge bucket list check for me!

Hoping: That we all stay well for the next four months because we have so much fun stuff planned, I can’t even begin to tell you about all of it!  I know somebody is going to get sick at some point, so I’m hoping it’s during some downtime when we don’t have anything terribly important going on… like one of the many concerts we have tickets for!

Marveling: At how my blog income for 2024 has already surpassed my income for all of 2023 and it’s only the beginning of September.  My income has been consistent year after year, so it has been a very nice surprise to see a dramatic increase this year.  I’m hoping Q4 ends up being better than previous fourth quarters to continue to widen the gap, but I’ll be happy if I perform similarly to previous fourth quarters because I’ll still have an overall increase for the year.

Needing: To start making some kind of loose itinerary or plans for our trip to Chicago in October!  We’ve never been (Brian has briefly), so there’s so much to research and figure out!  I also don’t know that much about Chicago, so I’m not even honestly sure where to start.  I did ask a couple of friends for recommendations, and they both gave us great information, so I’m sure we’ll use those as our main guide.

Smelling: Cinnamon and Clove in my diffuser and aaaallll the fall soaps!  Oh, and Young Living also released a new Pumpkin Spice oil that I’ve been diffusing and it is so good!!  I’ve been hoping for a pumpkin spice oil for years, so I’m glad it lived it up to my expectations!  It just needs a smidge more of cinnamon in my opinion, so I just drop a couple of extra drops of cinnamon bark in with it.

Wearing: Shockingly, the past couple of weeks have been mild weather-wise as we’ve had a ton of rain, so I’ve already started transitioning to jeans and tees, and I’ve even worn boots a couple of times.  This might be the earliest in the season that I’ve ever worn them.  My favorite thing that I’ve been wearing lately, though, is these leggings.  I bought them in some new colors and I’m so excited to have so many color choices!  They are truly the best leggings I’ve yet to come across.

Praying: For so many things… for a dear friend who is halfway through her first pregnancy after a long journey of infertility and loss… that her baby continues to grow perfectly and healthily and that she has a smooth and safe delivery in a few months.  For my cousin who is battling cancer.  For one of my aunts and one of my uncles who are battling Alzheimer’s/Dementia, and for their loved ones who care for them daily.  For Maui, who seems to be aging at a rapid pace these last few months after being diagnosed with kidney disease last year.  For all of the victims and their families as well as the other people affected by the school shooting in Georgia a couple of weeks ago.  For the unity of our country after so much division these last few years.  For the best possible outcome in November for the election.  For my vertigo that has subsided to occasional dizziness/boat rocking… that it continues to improve until it no longer exists.  And as always, I’m thanking God for our many blessings… for our good health, for our safety, and for His provision for our family.  I also have several unspoken prayers that I’ve been praying about for quite some time, and I’m hoping they are answered soon.  Right now, they’re still in the “not yet” phase, and even though the “not yet” can be frustrating, I am choosing daily to believe that God is working.  He never stops working.  <3

Noticing: That the leaves are starting to turn colors here, and it’s a beautiful thing!  We usually reach our peak around early November, so we still have a while to go, but I just love the whole process of fall and seeing all of the beautiful reds and yellows and golds and oranges as they eventually turn to brown and return to dust.  We didn’t have much rain this summer (until the last week or so), so I don’t think the colors will be as vibrant this year, but I’ll take what I can get.  ;o)

Knowing: That I will be going to vote as soon as possible.  I’m so ready for early voting to begin so I can go cast my ballot!  This will, by far, be the easiest vote for a presidential candidate that I have ever made since I turned 18 in 2000 and voted in my first election.

Thinking: Of how excited I am that Jacob decided to join Velocity this year.  Velocity is the middle school version of Teen Advisors, and they do some great things for their fellow peers and for the community, and I’m excited to watch him grow in his faith and do great things to help others.

Opening: Target packages!  I bought those new leggings and some new sports bras to replace a few of my old ones, and I’m loving all of them.

Giggling: At videos that Brian and I have been sending back and forth to each other, most of which are about the current political climate.  Sometimes you just have to laugh so you don’t cry.  Haha.

Happy Monday, y’all!

It’s time for my quarterly “currently” post, so it’s time for some randomness!

I’m currently…

Making: Plans for Easter and our Disney trip!  Spring break is the week after Easter this year, so we leave for Disney World the day after Easter.  That means I’ll have to have all of my ducks in a row before Easter since we’ll be doing all of the church and family things that day.  So, I’ve been busy buying things for Easter baskets, our Easter egg hunt, and our Disney trip + I’ve been planning outfits and a loose itinerary for Disney.  Whew.

Cooking: Same ol’, same ol’… lots of easy dishes – chicken tacos, sausage peppers and onions tacos, beef and parmesan pasta, sheet pan sausage and veggies, various baked chicken recipes with veggies, and all of my other usual staples.

Drinking: Lots of water every day (I aim for 60-90 oz. per day), and two cups of hot cinnamon sunset tea each day.  I drink mine straight – it has no need for milk or sugar – and it’s black tea so it has loads of health benefits.  Then, on weekends, I typically have an alcoholic beverage.  Usually beer or a cocktail on Friday and Saturday, and always wine at Sunday dinner.  :o)

Eating: See above for what I’m cooking.  Haha.  For breakfast I eat an egg with a sprinkle of cheese every single day, and for lunch I’ve been trying to squeeze in extra protein and veggies by eating leftovers from whatever I cook.  I’ve also started making omelets for lunch – 2 eggs, spinach, cheese, and a dash of pink Himalayan sea salt and pepper.  And I still eat an apple every single day.

Reading: I’m currently reading The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel at the recommendation of a friend, and I’m enjoying it so far.  In addition to that, I’m still working my way through The Bible and The Bible Recap, and I’m reading my daily devotional… by far, the best daily devotional I’ve ever owned.

Wanting: The weather to stay warm.  For some reason this winter I had a very low tolerance for the cold.  I’m always cold, but I have felt chilled to the bone pretty much since November and I’m soooo tired of it.  It’s an odd kind of cold this year, too, and the only way I know to describe it is that it feels like there’s ice water running through my veins sometimes… kind of like when they put an IV in your arm and you first feel the liquid start to flow through your veins.  It’s weird, I know.  And I think that might be why I’ve started having issues with Reynaud’s Phenomenon this past year, too.  I’ve never experienced that in my whole life until April last year, and I’ve noticed that 99% of the time it happens, it’s when I’m freezing cold.  I’m a moderate weather girl, and my ideal weather is warm/cool depending on if we’re rolling into spring or fall, and I don’t like extreme temps.  However, when choosing between extreme heat and extreme cold, I’ve always been one to choose extreme cold… until this winter.  All of a sudden, lately, I’ve been thinking I would choose 95 degrees over 45.  I’m sure I won’t be saying that in July and August, though!  Haha.

Looking: Forward to our Disney World trip!  Although, I won’t be able to ride everything because of my vertigo/dizziness/boat-rocking, I’m still going to be the happiest girl just to be there.  AND, I get to celebrate my 42nd birthday in Magic Kingdom this year!  AND we’re having Be Our Guest for my birthday dinner!!!!  The last time we went to Disney and my birthday fell during the trip, we made the mistake of going to Animal Kingdom on my birthday, and that’s my least favorite of the parks, so I had wished that we had planned better and chosen a different one for my birthday.  (You can see all of our trips here if you missed them.)  This year, we had the forethought to make sure we were in MK, and I’m so excited about that!

Playing: At the time that I’m typing this, Justin Timberlake’s new album hasn’t yet dropped, but by the time you’re reading this, it will have been out for a few days, so you can bet that’s what I’m playing right now as your eyes scroll through this post.  ;o)

Wasting: Time texting with friends, scrolling through social media, and generally procrastinating this week.  (And I am, by nature, NEVER the procrastinating type.)  The weather has been lovely, and I’ve had crazy spring fever, so I don’t feel like working on blog stuff or housework or house projects right now.  I’m also exhausted from this time change, so I think I’ve honestly wasted a lot of time staring off into space this past week.  There were a couple of days that I legit considered curling up in my bed and taking a nap, but I resisted.  And I’ve also been close to falling asleep in the car line every afternoon since we sprung forward, too.  It’s been hard to focus on work, and even reading my book, because I feel so dang tired.

Buying: Everything for Easter and our Disney World trip.  I’m almost done shopping for Easter baskets for the kids, but I still need to buy items to stuff eggs for our Easter egg hunt that we do every year.  I’m also buying everything we need for Disney.  We don’t really need much this time around, but we did buy a couple of new tops for Olivia, and I bought this one for myself, too, because I absolutely could not resist it.  I mean!!  I also needed new shoes, so I grabbed some new Nikes… my go-to.  Oh, and a new swimsuit for our pool day!

Sewing: This prompt will forever go unused, so I’m removing it from the next post.  Haha.

Wishing: That my body would hurry up and adapt to the time change.  Springing forward is a huge struggle for me each year, and it takes me weeks to fully adjust.  My internal body clock runs like a top, so when the time moves, it takes my body a long time to catch up.  I feel like I do my best sleeping early in the morning before my alarm starts to go off, so now that we’re waking up an hour earlier, I feel like I’m losing the best part of my sleep, hence, the reason I have been exhausted for the last week.

Loving: That I can go on walks and runs after dinner now… that’s the only good thing about springing forward.  ;o)

Hoping: That everything goes well on our trip to Disney World, and that my vertigo doesn’t end up rearing its ugly head.  While I’m going to be careful choosing which attractions to ride, I’m hoping I can at least ride a few.  I’m just hoping that none of them trigger any dizziness or vertigo.

Marveling: At the fact that I’m going to be 42 in just a few short weeks.  I have no idea how that happened.  Haha.  I still feel 25 most days, so it’s hard to believe I’m going to be FORTY-TWO.  Aging has never bothered me, and I truly believe that you’re only as old as you feel, so hopefully I’ll continue to feel 25 for a while longer.  :o)  I’m also grateful for each year that passes by because that’s another year that I’m here!

Needing: To finish getting organized for Easter and our Disney trip, to start packing, to get way ahead on the blog, and make sure everything is good to go before our trip!  I have been blogging about a week ahead these last couple of months which has been so nice, but I know I’m going to lose my lead while we’re gone for spring break!

Smelling: Lime and peppermint in my diffuser in an attempt to wake myself up!  It’s my favorite scent for spring and summer, and it does give off all the energizing vibes!

Wearing: All kinds of stuff… the weather can’t make up its mind if it wants to be rainy and warm, rainy and cold, sunny and cold, or sunny and warm, so I’ve had all kinds of outfits going on these last few weeks.  One thing I’ve been wearing no matter what the weather has been is these jeans.  They are the best of the best!  I’m also starting to bring back my beloved Target tanks that I lived in last summer.

Praying: For many things as usual… for my cousin and Jacob’s teacher who are both battling cancer, for a dear friend who has struggled with infertility and loss this past year and is trying to get pregnant again, for a couple of different family members who are struggling with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, for Maui who was diagnosed with kidney disease a few months ago, and for a couple of other friends who are struggling with their mental health.  I’m also still praying really hard that one day this vertigo and dizziness will resolve… I don’t even care if anyone finds the real reason it happened… I just want it to go away.  As grateful as I am that it’s no longer interfering with most of my daily activities, the lingering dizziness and boat-rocking is still taking its toll on me.  I don’t mention it much anymore to anyone because I know everyone is tired of hearing about it, but unfortunately, it’s still very much present every.single.day. (there hasn’t been a single day since July 11, 2023 that I haven’t had it… most people just don’t realize that because I’ve gotten good at living with it/hiding it) and it’s getting really freaking old.  In addition to all of this, though, I’m constantly thanking God for my many blessings, the health of our immediate family, and my growing relationship with Him.  There’s always good to be found in the struggle.

Noticing: That summer break is right around the corner!!  We are coming down the home stretch – the kids just entered the fourth quarter of school this week – and it’s blowing my mind.  Every year flies by even faster than the previous year and it makes me so sad that time seems to be passing so quickly.  After this year, Jacob will only have five years left at his current school and then he’ll be going to college.  WHAT?!  Oh my word.

Knowing: That I really need to stop putting off cleaning out the rest of the house.  I always feel like I go into the new year absolutely ITCHING to get started, but then I lose steam.  Well, I lost steam much earlier this year, so I haven’t cleaned out half of the stuff I need to, so I’m hoping to muster the motivation soon.  Otherwise, I’m going to have a bunch of big X’s on my March goals list.  Haha.

Thinking: That 2024 is off to a much better start than 2023, and I’m hoping and praying that it stays this way.  Last year was one of the tougher ones for me, and I’m still hopeful that 2024 is going to continue to be better.

Opening: Target packages!  I placed an order for some refills that we needed (mascara, snacks that the kids love, etc.) and I also ordered a couple more basic tanks that I love so much because they have them in an whole new array of colors for summer!  I also ordered some goodies to put in the kids’ Easter baskets, and I ordered a new swimsuit for myself (as mentioned above) so I can retire another one of my old ones this year.  Some of mine are literally 20 years old.

Giggling: At memes, always and forever.

Happy Monday, y’all!

Currently… December 2023

*This post contains affiliate links.  As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

It’s time for my quarterly “currently” post, so it’s time for some randomness!

I’m currently…

Making: Plans for so many upcoming events that I’m organizing plus various other things that I’m working on.  Brian’s and my day date on Friday.  Class auction baskets for fourth and seventh grades.  Reindeer Run at the kids’ school.  Christmas shopping.  Olivia’s class Christmas party.  Finishing up decorating for Christmas.  Sending out Christmas cards.  Whew.

Cooking: Lots of easy meals, but ones that include lots of veggies.  Between Thanksgiving break and my trip to New York City, I’ve eaten tons of junk and had many an adult beverage these last two weeks, so I’m trying to get as many veggies (and lots of protein) into our meals as I can.

Drinking: A whole lot of alcohol.  Lol.  As I said before, during Thanksgiving break, B and I treated ourselves to drinks most nights, and in New York City, we definitely did our fair share of drinking – beer, wine, cocktails, etc.  I had the best cocktail at the Oscar Wilde popup Christmas bar in New York.  It was called the “Leisurely in Love” and it had Titos Vodka, Giffard Lychee, Combier Rose, Lavender, and fresh lime juice, and it was soooo delicious.  I also had a couple of beers on the trip, and I had a couple of Amaretto sours at our hotel bar.  That’s my Momma’s signature cocktail so I joined her for a couple one evening.  ;o)  Now that I’m back from vacation, I’m sticking to water water water.  And my hot tea, of course.  I did also treat myself to Starbucks the morning we got back, because I was craving a Peppermint Mocha the whole time we were in New York City, but I never got one because coffee makes my stomach iffy sometimes and I didn’t want to risk it.  When I went to get my Peppermint Mocha on Monday, I was so disappointed because they were out, and I had to settle for a Caramel Brulee.  While it was delicious, it did not hit the spot since I had my heart set on a Peppermint Mocha.  Guess I’ll be taking another trip to a different Starbucks soon!

Eating: See above for what I’m cooking.  Haha.  Lots of veggies and fruits, and as little gluten as possible.  I still haven’t cut it out altogether, but I’ve been eating much less of it, aside from during Thanksgiving break and our trip to NYC.

Reading: I’ve been reading the same book for a month – The Idea of You by Robbine Lee.  It’s such a great book, y’all, but I just haven’t had the time to read lately, so it’s taking me forever to get through it.  I’ve also been making my way through Winning the War in Your Mind by Craig Groeschel, although, I haven’t picked it up in a couple of months.  And I’m, of course, working my way through The Bible and The Bible Recap.

Wanting: To get caught up on life stuff and get ahead of the game.  I feel like I’ve been behind this entire year and that’s a yucky feeling, but no matter how hard I try, I just cannot seem to get ahead this year.  It has truly just been one of those years.

Looking: Forward to all of the festive things that the Christmas season is going to bring!  We have so many fun things coming up, and I just love this time of year!

Playing: Soooo much Taylor Swift.  I just cannot get enough of her, and ever since she released the song “You’re Losing Me” I cannot stop listening.  It is just the most heartbreaking song.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it a million more times here on the blog, but the girl is a lyrical genius.  I love her.

Wasting: Nothing?

Buying: Aaaallll the Christmas gifts.  I think I’m about halfway done??  I haven’t checked thoroughly, but I’d like to be done as early as possible this year.  Brian and I are going on a day date Friday, which usually translates to “running all the errands,” so I’m hoping that we can knock out nearly the rest of the shopping.  I’m also buying all of the items for the fourth and seventh grade class auction baskets as well as items for the Reindeer Run fundraiser at the school in a couple of weeks.

Sewing: Nothing per usual.

Wishing: That this vertigo would go away.  Sigh.  Yep, it’s still here.  It’s been almost five months and it’s. still. here.  Thankfully, it isn’t affecting my daily activities as much anymore, but it would be really nice to be able to lay down, recline, sit up from laying down or reclining, run, and tilt my head up without everything spinning.  I’m so freaking tired of it.  I am very grateful that I can drive and do most of my other daily activities now, though.  So grateful.

Loving: These Chelsea boots from Target!  They are just fabulous!  I purchased them for our trip to New York City and they did not disappoint.  I walked all over the place in them, and they were so comfortable.  They have a small block heel, so they’re stylish, but not too tall, and they have memory foam insoles for maximum comfort.  They’re also water resistant and they’re surprisingly warm!  I cannot recommend these enough!  And the best part for me was that I got them for 30% off making them just $28!  They’re not currently on sale, but they’re worth every penny of the full $39.99 price point.

Hoping: That we all stay well for the remainder of the Christmas season.  Brian is recovering from a cold and pinkeye, but the kids and I haven’t been sick in a while.  *Knocks wood*  I just pray everyone stays well so we don’t have to miss anything festive or important like we did the year before last when 3/4 of the family got the flu for the entire week before Christmas.

Marveling: At the fact that both Brian and my dad both got sick a couple of days before Momma and I left for New York City, and neither Mom nor I got sick.  SO GRATEFUL.  My dad thinks he may have had the flu as he was so very sick with aches, chills, and fever, and Brian had a bad cold and pinkeye in both eyes.  Both of them came down with their sicknesses two days before we were supposed to leave for our trip, so I thought for sure one (or both) of us were going to end up getting sick on the trip, but we didn’t!  Whew.  Thank goodness for my trusty Thieves from Young Living!!!!  I started slathering myself in it the second Brian told me he had a scratchy throat.

Needing: To catch up on so many things.  My master to-do list is insanely long right now, and it seems that every single time I cross an item off the list, 2-3 pop up in its place.  I took some time earlier this week to get organized and make all the lists, and it has made such a huge difference in my headspace.  Even though I know I have a lot to tackle, at least it’s all written down and organized.

Smelling: Cinnamon and clove in my diffuser always and forever this time of year.  This scent is what I imagine heaven will smell like for me one day.

Wearing: These jeans (I get so many questions about these and they're currently on sale!) and these faux leather leggings on repeat, these sweaters, and these boots.

Praying: For so many things.  We have so many family members and friends who are suffering right now.  For my cousin who is fighting cancer, for my aunt who is struggling with Alzheimer's, for my uncle who is struggling with Parkinson’s and dementia, for my uncle and aunt who are caring for both them around the clock (I can’t imagine the toll it must take on them mentally and physically), for another cousin who recently lost a loved one, for Jacob’s teacher who is beginning a very tough cancer battle, for one of my best friends who just lost her baby, for Maui who was just diagnosed with stage one kidney disease, for a medical professional somewhere to somehow figure out how to help me be free of this vertigo once and for all, FOR PEACE IN THIS WORLD, and for several unspoken requests that I’m keeping to myself.  It has been a really tough year, and I’ve realized this year more than ever that it’s true that you never really know what someone is going through... things may look okay – maybe even great – from the outside, but you just never know what’s truly going on behind the scenes in someone’s life.  This has made me try to be much more patient and kind with others than ever this year.  And in addition to all of the above requests, I’ve been thanking God extra hard for all of the good things in life, especially the health of our immediate family.

Noticing: That these last four months of the year, which are my favorites, are flying by faster than ever.  Every year it seems to go by faster than the last, and just when I think it can’t possibly fly by any faster, it does.  I’m not one to rush time, but I do have to say that I am looking forward to a new year and a fresh start.  While we did have so many good things happen this year, 2023 will still go down in history as one of my least favorites.  We have had way too much sickness, injury, sadness, health scares, car wrecks, and bad news this year, and living with vertigo for nearly half of the year has been a huge challenge, especially knowing at this point that it may be something I have to live with forever.

Knowing: That 2024 is going to be better.  I’m speaking it into existence now!

Thinking: That I’m so grateful that we actually went through with our girls trip to New York City.  It was the highlight of my year!  I’m so grateful that I got to have all of that time with my Momma, my aunt, and my cousin, and I’m extremely grateful that our trip went so smoothly.  After having so many things go wrong this year, it almost felt like I was playing with fire taking the trip.  Haha.

Opening: Lots and lots of packages from Amazon and Target and various other stores.  I took full advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and I’ve been doing lots of online shopping for Christmas, so I had a pile of packages waiting for me when I got home from my trip.

Giggling: At Brian because he just texted me and asked me what on earth was going on with Olivia’s legs in a picture I posted on Instagram.  He said it looks like she has three legs in the picture I posted on Instagram stories and now I can’t unsee it.  Lol.

This is the picture I posted:

This is what Brian sent pointing out that she has three legs:

This is the actual full picture that gives you a better picture of what’s actually going on… she has her right leg bent out to the right side so that's her foot in the bottom left corner.  Instagram stories cuts off the sides of all of the pictures since they’re different dimensions and it did, indeed, make it look like she has three legs.  Hahahaha.

Happy Wednesday, y’all!
