Girl Chat - Favorite Fall Recipes

When I think of fall I think of several things – football, get-togethers, and holidays.  And the one thing that all of these things have in common is FOOD!!

During the fall and winter months when the chill starts to creep into the air, I tend to crave heartier foods like pastas and soups, and my sweet tooth also tends to kick into high gear.  There’s something about cold weather that makes me want to bake all the muffins, cookies, and cakes!

Here are a few of my favorite tried-and-true recipes for fall…

Favorite Cookies to Keep on Hand

Brian’s grandmother has perhaps the very best Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe that I have ever tried in my entire life.  These cookies are tiny little pieces of heaven and once you have one, you will not be able to stop eating them.  They are light and crisp on the outside with chewy ooey gooey centers.  You must try them!

Favorite Dessert to Bring for Parties & Luncheons

I actually just posted this recipe earlier this week in anticipation of the upcoming holidays.  Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake has been a staple in our house since I was little.  It is the most requested dessert in our family and it is the one dessert that my mom could probably make in her sleep.  It’s easy, it’s delicious, and I haven’t ever met anyone who didn’t like it.  They are perfect to make for parties and get-togethers.

Favorite Dessert for the Holidays

Hershey Pie was introduced to me by Brian’s mom when B and I were dating many, many years ago.  I got the recipe from her and the rest is history!  I pretty much always make one of these for Christmas with my extended family.  They are served cold, which you’re probably thinking is odd for a fall/winter dessert, but I will forever associate them with the holidays in our family.  And bonus, they are only three ingredients and you don't even bake them!

Favorite Breakfast

Waffles are a staple in our household.  The kids love a good freezer waffle during the week when we’re too busy to cook, and on the weekends, they almost always request homemade waffles.  A couple of years ago we had some red, white, and blue sprinkles leftover from July 4th, so I thought it would be fun to add them to the kids’ waffles to make Confetti Waffles.  Well, here we are a couple of years later, and they still request Confetti Waffles all the time.  I change out the sprinkles for the different holidays, and this time of year the perfect way to make them is with orange and black Halloween sprinkles and to add a dash of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.  Because everyone needs to eat pumpkin things this time of year!

Favorite Treat for the Kids

Frozen is still extremely popular in our household, and the kids’ love for it always ramps up this time of year because we will soon be busting out our Pentatonix Christmas albums and their cover of Let it Go is our kids’ favorite.  How fun is this Elsa's White Hot Chocolate recipe?!  And it is extremely rich… perfect for the colder months!

Favorite Main Dinner Dish

As I mentioned above, I tend to crave heartier dishes this time of year, and my favorite thing to cook is pasta.  Pasta dishes are typically pretty easy to make, too, so that right there is reason enough for me!  One of my favorite go-to meals during the colder months is my Beef and Parmesan Pasta with Zucchini.  Added bonus?  It only dirties one dish!

The one thing that I would love to try to make at home?  A Pumpkin Spice Latte!  If anyone has a copycat recipe for a Starbucks PSL, please let me know!  It sure would help my wallet.  :o)
