Brian’s Grandmother’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

I’ve mentioned a few times on the blog how B has been baking his grandmother’s chocolate chip cookies lately, and many of you have asked for the recipe.

Well, ask and you shall receive!

These are the epitome of the perfect chocolate chip cookie.  They are gooey on the inside and chewy around the edges and they pretty much taste like heaven.  Of all of the chocolate chip cookies I’ve tried in my day, these are my favorite.

Buy It

2 1/4 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup shortening (we use Crisco)
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
6 oz. chocolate chips

Make It

1.    Combine flour, baking soda and salt and set aside.

2.    In a separate large bowl, combine shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar.

3.    Add eggs and vanilla to shortening and sugar mixture.

4.    Add flour mixture to shortening and sugar mixture.

5.    Stir in chocolate chips.

6.    Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

7.    Let cool on cookie sheet.

Makes around 30 cookies.

This recipe is one from Brian’s Dad’s Mother’s kitchen, so it is tried and true and it has been loved for many decades.

The only thing I hate about it is that I never got to meet the chef behind the recipe.  <3

    1. Oh man, I'm sorry you can't have eggs! I would be in big trouble because I eat one almost every day! You should try it with the flax eggs and see what happens!
