Confessions {9.15.2016}

I skipped confessions last week, so I have a heap of them to get off my chest this week!

I confess...

… that I’m extremely socially awkward and the older I get, the worse it seems to get.  Sigh.  It takes me a long time to get comfortable around new people, but once I am, I’m an open book!  #ProbablyALittleTooOpen

… that using a combination lock on my gym locker these last few weeks has caused a flood of memories from junior high when I first started using one.  I remember getting my first lock and having a complete meltdown over learning how to use it… was anybody else that intimidated by them??  I mean, turn right 1,800 times, turn left 165 times, turn back to the right 4 more times, and don’t forget to pass zero!!!!  Exhausting.  I remember being terrified that I was going to forget how to do it and show up late to class with the wrong books.  #IWishThatWasMyBiggestProblemNow

… that since we’re on the topic of meltdowns over learning new things, I also remember when my mom took me to open my first checking account when I was sixteen I had a total meltdown over learning how to write checks and balance the checkbook.  It was all too much!  Haha.  #ProbsThatSeemedSoBigThatWerentReallyProbsAtAll

… that I think the follow/unfollow game that some people play on Instagram is so childish.  There’s one person in particular (I won’t mention any names) who has followed/unfollowed me at least 6 or 7 times just in the last couple of weeks.  If you follow me and I follow you back only to have you unfollow me one day later, I’m going to unfollow you as well, and then if you try to follow me again, I’m not playing your games and following you again, so give it up!  I understand that people do it to increase their following, but it’s really exhausting and super annoying.  I’d rather have a small handful of organic followers who I can actually connect with rather than 8 million who don’t even pay attention to what I post because all they care about is increasing their followers, too.  #DoYouNotHaveAnythingBetterToDo #HowManyTimesCouldOnePersonSayFollowInOneParagraph #FollowFollowFollow #Follow

… that I am FED UP with this whole airbag recall.  Remember how I was in a rental car for 70+ days because my driver’s side airbag was recalled for deploying too forcefully and sending shrapnel all over the car?  Well, literally the very next day after I got my car back with a safe driver’s side airbag, I received another recall letter in the mail stating that my passenger side airbag has been recalled for the exact. same. thing.  $#!@  The letter then proceeded to say that they are not giving us rental cars for this recall and that we should just “not allow anyone to sit in the passenger seat until the airbag is replaced… maybe toward the end of October.”  There are soooo many things wrong with this.  First off, how can I not allow anyone to sit in the passenger seat for two months?!  This is my primary vehicle!!  Second, if shrapnel comes flying out when the airbag is released, then it can kill me just as easily from the passenger airbag as it could from the driver’s side airbag… I mean, I’m only 2 feet away from it.  And finally, my precious boy rides with me every single day and God forbid that we got in a wreck and shrapnel fly everywhere, it could hurt him in the back seat as well.  GET IT TOGETHER, AIRBAG PEOPLE!  I'M TIRED OF LIVING IN FEAR EVERY SINGLE DAY OVER SOMETHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE TO KEEP ME SAFE!  (For those of you who know nothing about this, you need to go to Google immediately and search “Takata airbag recall.”  Millions of vehicles across tons of different brands have been recalled – Volkswagen, Honda, Mercedes, Toyota, BMW, Audi, GM, Landrover… the list goes on.  Please, PLEASE do your research and do everything you can to keep yourselves and your precious cargo safe.)

And now that I've scared the daylights out of you, happy almost weekend!  ;o)

  1. Ahh your last confession IS scary! And you're so right that even if you didn't let anyone sit in your passenger seat for two months (which isn't realistic at all) then you're in danger, too! You may want to check with your insurance company to see if your car insurance has a loss of use policy with it--they provide you with a rental while your car is in the shop. I only know about that because I had to take advantage of that after I hit a dog (who lived by the way....got up and ran away) that did $1200 worth of damage to my car!! But you might just want to see about getting a new car haha!

  2. I definitely feel you on the social awkwardness. It takes me a bit to open up, but like you, when I do, sometimes it is probably too much!

  3. The follow/unfollow game is so annoying! I've had things like that happen to me too and it's a bit ridiculous. I'm sorry friend. I am with you on I'd rather have a smaller amount of genuine followers than a ton of people who are just following me so I follow them and never like or comment on my stuff. So sorry about this airbag situation. Ugh! So scary.

  4. Totally the same as your first confession. I'm awkward around most people except for close family and close friends. If and when I finally DO open up, I'm too open too, share too much, say embarrassing things, etc.

I hate that follow/unfollow jazz too. I notice it a lot on Twitter and it's so obnoxious. Some people are too concerned about their numbers!

    1. Yeah, I mean, I know that followers are important, and I'd love to have lots of them, too, but I just can't bring myself to do that! It seems so dishonest.

  5. The airbag recall is so scary, I can't believe they expect you to just avoid that seat and that all other passengers wouldn't be affected!!And yes to complicated lockers, reading that just brought back my own high school memories haha

  6. OMG I am so frustrated for you with your car mess! I'm so sorry! That is not right and I hope it gets worked out soon!

I haven't even heard of this follow/unfollow game on IG??!? That's a real thing? LOL!

  7. I am socially awkward too! Like I come across as being rude I think but in reality it's just Bc I'm awkward! #noshame. Ugh the follow/unfollow game has started with me and it drives me insane! I discovered that app that tells you who has followed or unfollowed you and I think I need to delete it. I just don't understand why you would follow someone only to unfollow the next day! So sorry about your car. What a pain!

  8. I just followed you on insta :) haha I promise I won't unfollow. This whole thing was actually really eye opening to me when I opened my blog insta. There are days when I gain 120 followers and then loose 110. What are all these people doing with their days?! Seriously!

    1. Haha. I followed you back, and I only follow people who I actually want to follow so I won't unfollow you either. ;o) And yes, I don't know how people have that much time on their hands!!

  9. Ha, I am totally with you on the first one. I seriously overshare so much LOL. I am an open book. That is so wrong about the car. They need to get their act together. Good luck, and almost Happy FRIDAY!

  10. The follow/unfollow game is getting SO old now! I'll get a surge of 10+ (BIG) followers and I'll follow them back...and the next day my following drops...why? They all unfollowed me. I mean really...it's so dumb! So I agree with you about the small, organic following. I used to get caught up in my numbers (sometimes I still do) but it's better to have REAL people!

  11. I am SO much like your #1! I think that maybe we aren't any more socially awkward but instead maybe just more aware of what was always there? lol

Trying to let go of numbers when you blog is so difficult sometimes! I'm guilt of the compare game and I have to tell myself often to just stop and enjoy where I am!

    1. Girl, SO TRUE! I have always been socially awkward, so you're probably right.

And yes, I know that followers are important... I just don't want to gain them like that!

  12. We share the same social awkwardness, so we can totally just skip that part and be friends :) also - the "follow" thing on IG - YES. I was literally just complaining about this yesterday. Drives. Me. Insane.

    1. Yes, we can totally be friends!

And I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one irritated with this IG business... sometimes it feels like I'm the only one not participating in the follow/unfollow olympics! Haha.

  13. OMG, on Insta it is SO ridiculous. I seriously don't get it all. Real followers ALL THE WAY!!

    1. I bet it is SUPER crazy for you because you have a zillion followers! I bet your numbers bounce around like nobody's business!

  14. That airbag situation is really scary!! They should definitely give you a rental! You're right, the driver's seat isn't that far from the passenger airbag, you could get hurt too!

When I was in high school and had to use a lock for the first time, I was terrible at it. I was late to class many times that freshman year due to locker difficulties!

  15. I totally agree with you on the follow/unfollow business. I don't have anytime for that! For me it's definitely not about a how many followers I have on IG. I only really care about the organic ones!

  16. Socially awkward people unite. Girl you sound SO much like me... its terrible, lol. At least we can understand each other. We don't want or try to be awkward... it just happens. The follow games drive me crazy too.

  17. I am not currently on Instagram, but the follow/unfollow thing sounds very annoying! I agree with you, I would rather talk to a smaller group of real people.

  18. I’m getting more and more annoyed with Instagram. I haven’t been subjected to the follow/unfollow thing, luckily. But I get a gazillion requests from random shops to follow me (just because they want me to follow them). I hate that. OMG the airbag thing - I would be livid! And, honestly, I don’t know how safe airbags really make cars in the first place. Have you ever been hit with one? I was in an accident once and the airbag went off and hit me in the face. It freaking HURT. I ended up with a bloody and fat lip too, because my tooth went through my lip (because of the airbag, NOT the accident!). Ugh!

  19. I have heard about the airbag recall on the passenger side now too. My co-worker got one and he thought the same thing. How can I not have a passenger in the car when I have a wife and kids? So dumb of them to not give you a rental car for it. I hate car problems. I also hate the follow and unfollow game.
