Five on Friday - Purse, Planner, Sports Bras, and Other Faves

Happy Friday, y’all!  Guess what?  It’s still raining here.  Yep, we’re now going on ten full days in a row that it has been rainy and gross.  As my Momma said on Facebook the other day, “Did I move to Seattle?  ‘Cause I don’t remember packing.”  Lol.  But seriously, our entire RiverWalk is completely under water and I’m a little worried we may need to start loading the animals two by two if it doesn’t stop soon.  Supposedly the sun should be joining us tomorrow but I’ll believe it when I see it.

In the meantime, we’ve been making our own sunshine over here and I just wanted to stop in really quickly this morning to share a few random things.  Our kids are delirious from all of the lack of fresh air, so I’m going to make this quick since I bribed them with some Netflix so I could get this post done.  #Truth

O N E – New Purse

I’m incredibly picky about purses and once I find one I love I use it until it falls apart…  then begins the stress of finding a new one that lives up to my ridiculously high standards.  I’ve been using the same one now for at least three years and it’s starting to look a little rough, so I’ve started to keep my eyes open for some new ones.

I had to return something at Kohl’s yesterday and on the way back out the door, I decided to browse their selection of purses since I have a gift card to spend there.  Immediately, I saw this purse and I couldn’t believe how cute it was!  I thought for sure it wouldn’t meet all of my criteria, but to my surprise, it was perfect:

- Main compartment has full zipper closure (I don’t like button closures)
- Main compartment is large enough to hold my planner but not so large that it’s a suitcase
- Has an outside pocket that is large enough to hold my keys and phone
- Straps are long enough to wear on my shoulder but short enough to hold in my hand
- Stands independently (I don’t like slouchy purses because that makes them too hard to find everything inside)
- Must not cost a bajillion dollars
- Must be good quality so it will last for several years
- MUST BE CUTE!

Well y’all, this one is PURSE PERFECTION.

However, it is currently not on sale, and Lindsay does not pay $49 for purses.  So now I’ll just be over here stalking this thing until it goes on sale… or until I get a coupon...  which will probably be pretty soon considering I get them pretty frequently via email.

But anyway, if your criteria for purses is similar to mine, check this one out if you’re needing a new one.  It’s perfection.  That bow is giving me all the heart eyes.  And it’s gold.  Need I say more?

T W O – Planner

Speaking of planners, Y’ALL, I LOVE MY NEW ONE SO MUCH!!!!  You may remember this post where I sang the praises of my new Emily Ley Simplified Planner?  Well, I had to wait until January 1 to start using it and that day finally came after all of these months of waiting.  I.  FREAKING.  LOVE.  THIS.  PLANNER.  It is exactly what I’ve been longing for all these years.  The daily edition planners are a complete game changer.  I have so much space to write every single thing for the day – appointments, meetings, to-do lists, meals to cook, etc… and with room to spare.

I will be sharing an in-depth post really soon about how I’m staying organized in 2019 so if you think you might be interested in using my method you’ll need a daily planner.  Emily still has a few left for 2019 (but not many) so you should head over and grab one before it’s too late!  They are also 20% off right now with the code GETREADY, which is rare, so that makes it a great time to buy!

T H R E E – Sports Bras

‘Tis the season for working out and I’ll be back in the gym next week once the kids go back to school.  On my gym days I wear a sports bra all day so I need them to be comfy.  Therefore, I’m incredibly picky about those, too.  I saw these at Kohl’s and I may grab one of them, too, since I’m in need of a good sports bra right now.  I only have one that I truly love (and they don’t make it anymore) and a couple that are just okay, so I want to give this one a whirl while it’s on sale.  It comes in lots of colors, but y’all know pink will always and forever have my heart.  It’s been my favorite color for my whole entire life.

F O U R – Instagram

I’m planning on doing another round of decluttering/organizing/cleaning out + we have some really fun house projects in the works for 2019, so be sure to follow along with me on Instagram if you don’t already.  I typically post “highlight reel” pictures in my feed, but the behind-the-scenes cleaning out and organizing can be found in my stories.  You can follow here if you don’t already.

And I am reeeeaaaally missing Christmas right about now, too, because I’m at a loss for what to post in my feed now that all of my festive Christmas stuff is packed away.  Boooo.

F I V E – Posts You May Have Missed

It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I know a lot of people haven’t been reading blogs (I know I haven’t) so I thought that I would include a few of my favorite posts from the past week in case you missed them:

First up was this post about a new top I bought from… Kohl’s.  Haha.  I’m sensing a theme here.  But seriously, it’s one of the best tops I’ve ever bought.  I love it so much I dedicated an entire post to it.  Click here if you want to see why I love it so much.  Also, it's on sale right now!

Second, I posted all about Christmas 2018.  It was a great couple of days, and it was my favorite Christmas mass ever… you can read the post here to see why.

Finally, I always do an ode to the year when it comes to a close, so my Ode to 2018 is here.  I summarized all of our date nights, vacations, day trips, concerts, outings with friends, and all of the other big events of the year.  I also counted down my Top 5 most popular posts of 2018 by pageviews.  One went viral so I was pretty excited about that!  You can see that post here.

Well, I hope you’re enjoying your 2019 so far!  We are over here for sure!  I’m excited to get back into our regular routine next week and start all of the decluttering and organizing again!  I love the fresh start that the new year brings!

Happy Friday!

  4. I loved your simplifying stories last year, so I can't wait for it again this year! I should totally take some of your pointers and declutter my makeup.

  5. I need a new sports bra so bad but it's one thing I really don't enjoy buying. Since I have a bigger chest, I can't just buy any sports bras and usually the ones for me look like grandma bras haha! Ready for it to stop raining over here, too!! I wasn't expecting rain the entire break!

  9. YOU need Kohl's cash or coupons... I normally always have some I do not use, so hit me up lady! That purse is too cute not to be had. You had such a great year and its been so fun to get to know you more and get organized with you. I got the simplified planner and waiting patiently for it to arrive. I also want to say thank you for posting good amazon finds, i.e. the zella like leggings because I am addicted!

  11. Taking down our stuff this weekend and I am already sad. A good purse is worth it! Have you done the return an amazon thing to kohl’s? If you do you get a 25% off coupon, super helpful when you need one and have something to return. I got the Emily Ley binded planner and it’s freakin’ awesome!!!!

  12. That's a very nice purse! I have bag issues too. I can't wear cross bodies so I need them to be totes that I can wear on one shoulder!

  17. Those are all of my same requirements in a purse! How neat. This purse is absolutely adorable, too. I love it. Hope you’re able to get it soon. I don’t like paying full price for anything either. I am a sale shopper! I need to check out that planner. I usually get a Happy Planner from Hobby Lobby (because I like using that 40% off coupon), but I checked over the course of 2 weeks and they were so picked over. I finally settled on a different planner they offer there (Agenda 52) and I am not in love. That whole line was 40% off that day so I got a ton of accessories for it all under $30 total. But, I got it home and wasn’t that impressed. It’s a binder style planner. Cute, but not functional. You already know that I’m right there with you when it comes to Instagram (since we already talked about it). Ha. Hope we both find some inspiration soon!
