A Rainbow Christmas Tree for My Office

Everyone who knows me knows how much I love color!  I’ve been attracted to bold, bright, fun colors for as long as I can remember and I’ve always loved to decorate our home that way, too.  This year I spent a lot of time revamping my home office and transforming it into the colorful and chic space in which I’ve always dreamed, and it could not be more perfect.  I stuck with my one true love – PINK – for the primary color and then I accessorized with lots of rich golds as well as pops of rainbow.

Since I spent so much time curating the perfect pieces for my everyday home office décor, I thought it was only fitting that I revamp my Christmas décor in there as well.  I’ve had the idea to create a rainbow Christmas tree for years so there was no doubt in my mind that my office was the perfect space in which to do just that.

The first step was to get a new tree.  I’ve been using the same 3-foot Christmas tree in my office for the past 15 years and it was on its last leg, so I finally said my goodbyes.  For the new tree, I knew I needed something really tall because I needed enough height to squeeze in seven tiers of colors.  I also needed something really skinny since my office is so small.  As luck would have it, Michaels has had all of their artificial trees on sale for Black Friday pricing this year, and I was able to snag this brand new 7-foot pre-lit pencil tree for just $39.99!!!!  It’s tall and skinny and fits in the space perfectly.  And it was such a steal.  You can buy it online and then just pick it up at your local store.  That’s what I did!

The next step was to gather Christmas ball ornaments in the colors of the rainbow – pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.  You may notice that I omitted one color – indigo – because don’t most people??  And I also added pink because – duh!  I ended up having every color on hand already with the exception of orange and yellow.  After a quick search of the internet and a couple of trips to local stores, I found that the orange shatterproof ornaments could be purchased online, but yellow shatterproof ornaments in the size I needed were nowhere to be found.

For the yellow ornaments, I knew that some yellow spray paint would solve all of my problems, so I just ended up spray painting some old gold ball ornaments that we already had on hand and weren’t using.  Y’all know I will spray paint anything!  Haha.

Once the tree was completely decorated with the colored ball ornaments I realized that it needed something else for interest, so I picked up four white pom-pom garlands at Hobby Lobby (just $4 each!), and then I added a white tree topper and white tree skirt that I already had on hand.  Voila!  All done!  Ready for the pictures??

Isn’t it beau-tee-ful?

I think it would be really cool to eventually add other unique solid colored ornaments to it in all of the colors (a pink flower, a red ice skate, green grapes, blue mittens, etc.) to add more interest and make it even more fun than it already is!  And I think it would be fun to seek out a new ornament every year, too!

The tree is truly the perfect addition to my home office and it’s such a treat that I get to look at it all day while I work.  I’m seriously wondering if I can somehow make it acceptable to leave it up all year.  Haha.  I can’t stop staring at it, y’all!!

I’ll be going on Instagram stories at some point today to give y’all a little video tour of the tree, so be sure to follow me here if you don’t already.

Happy Monday!

    1. Yes! That's exactly why I did it that way. I was worried it would be boring if all of the textures were the same. Thank you!
