Five on Friday - September Goals

August was probably my toughest month of this year so far… in addition to my usual August funk, there was lots of anxiety with the kids returning to school in-person, Brian had to have an unexpected back surgery for a ruptured disc, we watched several people we love suffer from Covid, the weather was miserable, and my mood was just, well, crap.  August was not my favorite.  Haha.

But after the longest month six months everrrr, we’ve finally entered the sweet spot of the year… the last four months, which are my FAVORITE four months!  I love every single thing about September through December, and I have high hopes that these last four months are going to help salvage this year that will go down in history as the craziest one ever… well, it better be the craziest one ever… we don’t need future years being any crazier!!  Haha.

Today I’m recapping my August goals and going over my September goals.  As always, I’m using a Y for YES and N for NO to indicate whether or not I accomplished my goals.

August Goals

Relationships/Connect

Y  One last Sunday lunch with my in-laws before kids go back to school.
Y  One last Sunday dinner with my parents before kids go back to school.

Personal/Health/Wellness/Fitness/Beauty

N  Meditate every day. – Our schedule changed when the kids started school, so I accidentally forgot twice this month because I was out of my routine.  Boooo.
N  Quiet time every day. – Quiet time is done right after meditation, so this was forgotten twice, too… on the same days, of course.
Y  Drink 64 oz. most days.
Y  Close all rings on my Apple Watch at least 20 days. – Yep, closed all of them exactly 20 times.
Y  Walk/run 41 miles. – I ended up doing 49.62 miles!!
Y  Start revamping skin routine. – I started using a few new Neutrogena products.
Y  Read 2 books for fun. – I read five!  All of my library holds became available at the same time, so I was forced to read them all very quickly.
N  Finish White Fragility. – I’m almost done with it, but I didn’t quite finish… because I was too busy reading all of my library holds.
Y  Continue reading Get Out of Your Head. – I didn’t get to read very much of this either, but I did read some.
Y  Visit with therapist via Zoom.
Y  Schedule annual dermatologist skin check.
Y  Schedule annual well visit with midwife.

Family

Y  Take Jacob for his nine-year well visit.
Y  Take Jacob to meet his teacher.
Y  Take Olivia to meet her teacher.
Y  Send the kids back to school and pray that we’ve made the right decision.
Y  Continue to check on registration for Olivia’s dance classes.
Y  Make decisions regarding baseball for Jacob.
Y  Continue looking at mountain houses to rent for fall break.

Home

Y  Test drive 1-2 SUVs I have my eye on. – Yep!  We test drove three and I decided on one, too!
N  Spray paint travel frames white and hang in bedroom.
Y  Decorate the house for fall.
N  Complete 2 things on Master To-Do list. – I did big fat zero.

Now for the September goals… so far everything is going well at the kids’ school, but there is always a chance that they will have to move to distance learning, so I’m hesitant to set too many personal goals.  I am, however, including lots of fun fall bucket list items since I’m no longer doing seasonal bucket lists.
