Another Lazy Weekend

Hi friends!  Monday is coming to a close and that means that we are one day closer to FOOOOTBAAAALL SATURDAAAAY!  We’re heading to Athens on Saturday to watch our Dawgs play Bama.  The weather is supposed to be cloudy and cool, so we are hopefully going to have a perfect football weekend… all we need is a WIN!!!!

We spent Friday evening downtown.  Our city has brought back their outdoor concert series now that the weather has finally cooled down, so we took the kids down there for dinner and some live music.  The kids always love hanging out by the fountain (Olivia would have preferred to hang out in the fountain – seriously, she threw multiple fits when we wouldn’t let her get in there) and Jacob was ecstatic because the balloon lady was there.  She made him a Georgia (red and black) fishing pole so he could “fish” in the fountain.  Good thing we had that as backup in case somebody needed to fish Olivia out.

Saturday, I never even left the house.  I stayed in my PJs aaaall day, took a shower late in the afternoon only to change into another pair of PJ’s, ate some Five Guys take-out that Brian and Jacob picked up, drank some pumpkin beer, and watched college football.  All.  Day.  Long.  We are always on the go, so I adore rare days like this when we have nowhere to be.  During football games I worked on a couple of projects including making over these pumpkins.  I’ll be posting the finished ones later this week.

Sunday we actually got dressed and left the house… we took the kids out to Jason’s Deli for lunch, and then over to the playground to get some fresh air since they were both cooped up in the house all day Saturday.  They sure do love this new playground.  Neither of them wanted to leave!

Sunday evening, instead of going to my parents’ house for dinner like usual, we had them over to our house so I could cook for my mom for her birthday.  I made Baked Ziti, tossed a salad with all the fixins, and baked some garlic breadsticks along with a double chocolate cake for the perfect birthday dessert.  We opened a bottle of wine, turned on some tunes, and sat around chatting and laughing all evening.  I sure do love these people!  It’s always such a wonderful way to close out the weekend and prepare for the week ahead.

Five On Friday

The staaaate is aliiiive with cooler temperatuuuures!

Don't know why I'm singing The Sound of Music... I've never even seen that movie.

Anywho, I absolutely could not be more ready for these cooler temps.  It's going to be glorious this weekend!  Never mind that it's supposed to rain.

So I have to share this darling faux fur vest that I just got for Olivia.

Now.  Fur has never really been my style (especially real fur – that’ll never happen), but with all of this boho chic fashion trending for fall, I’m starting to change my tune a little… change is good, though, right?

Babies outgrow stuff so quickly that I usually don’t buy too many impractical pieces (like this one) for my kids, but the color is so versatile that she’ll be able to wear it with many different outfits.  Plus, with my Cartwheel App I got an additional 25% off, bringing the price down to just $12.  Score.  Now to find her some tiny little boots!

Have I ever mentioned that I love having a girl?

Speaking of Target (hello, lover!), they have some fabulous selections for women for fall right now, and although I saw about eight things that I absolutely needed, I contained myself and I only bought one top.  It was also 25% off with my Cartwheel App so… no big deal, right?

Check out this precious University of Georgia dress that B found for Olivia.  Oh, it is just so sweet!  But – warning – it runs extremely small.  Olivia is 18 months (holy moly, actually 19 months today!), but she’s big for her age, so she is currently in 2T clothes.  We ordered a 2T in this dress and it was teeny tiny.  We exchanged it for a 3T and it fits just right, but probably not with much growing room.  I believe that she could easily wear a 4T in this dress right now.  It’s crazy small.  I’m hoping that this year she can rock it as a dress, then next year as a tunic, and the following year (if it’s not too small altogether by then) a shirt!  Gotta get our money’s worth!

F O U R

I don’t know if Bath & Body Works just started carrying this scent or if I’m just late to the game, but their Limoncello line is incredible!

Last week I popped in to grab a dozen couple of their three-wick candles that were on sale and I stumbled upon this.

The soap and hand lotion is infused with olive oil, y’all.  And I don’t know about you guys, but in the winter, my hands look awful from aaaall the hand washing.  I’m hoping that this stuff will help combat my winter dryness.

And ohhhh the candle!!  It smells like heaven.  Go get one and save it for spring (since you’re all currently burning pumpkin ones).  That is all.

I posted a picture of my Erin Condren Life Planner on Instagram last week, and Erin Condren commented on it and said that they shared it on their Life Planner Wall of Fame here and here.  Maybe they do this for everyone who posts pictures of theirs on social media, I don’t know, but I still thought it was so cool!

Have a fabulous weekend and enjoy this gorgeous fall weather (assuming you’re experiencing it, too)!

What I Wore

Fall… so close, yet so far away…

We are still having some seriously warm weather (as per the usual here in Georgia), so making the transition to fall is a little tough at this point.  As much as I’d love to trade my sandals for boots and my sleeveless blouses for sweaters and scarves, that’s just not practical unless I want to live in a pool of constant sweat.  No thank you.

To start the transition, I’ve been phasing out the pencil skirts, adding skinny pants, and continuing with the sleeveless blouses and sandals or rocking three quarter length sleeves with shorts.  Trust me, in some cases (like our almost 90 degree Saturday this past weekend) shorts have still been necessary.

Here are some of my looks from the last couple of weeks... and a few of Olivia's, too.  :o)

This coming weekend is supposed to be a bit cooler (and rainy), so while I won’t quite be ready for leggings and scarves, I’m at least hoping to bust out my new booties!

Happy first official day of fall, y’all!

Weekend Review

Our weekend started off with one of our favorite fall activities – a football game!  I was so hoping for some crisp fall weather to fit the mood, but no such luck.  It wasn’t quite sweltering, but it was a wee bit warm for pants and I was regretting rocking the skinny jeans pretty early on... luckily, it cooled down pretty quickly once the sun went down.

The game was at my alma mater, and since it was homecoming they had a social beforehand with hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine.  Both of the kids have been attending this event every year since they were born, but this year was extra special because Jacob now attends the school as well.  It’s still so crazy to me to know that he’s walking the same halls that I once walked, learning in classrooms where I once learned, and playing with the children of my old classmates.

Saturday we attended our library’s Book Festival.  They had several authors and a couple of book characters present plus bouncy houses, arts and crafts, and many other activities for kids.  Jacob was excited to meet Olivia from the Olivia books, and my Olivia was, well, unimpressed to say the least.  She just wanted to play in the bubbles.

We did a little bit of everything, and by noon, the kids were hot and tired, so we headed to one of the kids’ favorite places for lunch – Chick-Fil-A!

The rest of the day was spent hanging out at home, working on a couple of projects around the house (I finally got my wreath hung on our pantry door, and I love the pop of color that it adds to the room!), eating Carrabba’s takeout, and watching a toooon of college football.  We whooped our opponent, and a couple of our not so favorite teams lost, so all was right in our world when we went to bed Saturday night.  Now let’s just see if we can continue to play like that for the rest of the season…

Sunday, we took the kids to Panera for lunch followed by a trip to Barnes & Noble, and Olivia refused to take her sunglasses off the entire time.  I kept asking her if she wanted to take them off and she would shake her little head very feverishly and say, “Uh uh!”  It was so funny.  I just adore this little girl so full of personality!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!  I’ll be spending the week cleaning out and pricing stuff for our neighborhood yard sale in a couple of weeks, but I’ll be back in a couple of days to share our fall décor.
